Because Seattle has a extesive off street path syste, additioal sigs were required to distiguish aed routes. The M1-8 series of sigs are used i Seattle to ark aed routes. These sigs are istalled alog aed routes with suppleetary sigs fro the M2, M3, M4, M5 ad M6 series. M1 sigs are also istalled at decisio poits o paths with D1-1c or D11-1csigs (see figure). May of Seattle s paths are aed. I order to iclude the colloquial route ae o the M1-8a sig, adjustets were ade to the sig. The route uber was replaced with route ae withi the ai body of the sig. The space at the top of the sig was used for a logo.
