Sme phts f ur 2015 presence are shwn belw. Chregrapher We want t use the pprtunity f being in the parade in frnt f ne millin peple n the streets and many mre n TV t send ut a strng visual message arund celebrating the bicycle s rle in making cities vibrant, healthy and fun. We see bicycles as being at the heart f the future f urban mbility! We have sme initial ideas n what type f flat we might create and we have sme terrific vlunteers amngst ur crew, but we are nw lking t bring smene n bard with a strng creative backgrund wh can help crdinate ur grup and bring chesin t ur mvements within the parade in essence a chregrapher! We are a fully vluntary rganisatin with all f ur members giving ver their time and talents fr free, but we are wrking n securing sme funding t enable us t pay fr the services f a chregrapher in the run-up t the parade. 2 Further details f what we are seeking The aim is t make ur cycling presence as alluring and entertaining as pssible, by applying chregraphy skills t ur mtley crew f cyclists within the St. Patrick s Day Parade! The persn will wrk with a vlunteer cmmittee (f, say, 5 persns) with ne main pint f cntact. We will have a brader team f vlunteers t help with preparatins in the days befre the parade. The persn will als liaise clsely with an artistic directr/crdinatr wh will cncentrate n develping initial cncepts t interpret the parade theme and hence visual appearance f ur crew, and take the lead n the making cstumes etc.. At this pint, we expect: cyclists n the day n carg bikes, sme with kids n bard The remainder either n Dublin Bikes r ther types f bikes (t be decided) T have a budget fr materials f arund 300 t 500. Nte that the parade is estimated t take 1 hur 10 minutes t pass thrugh the city centre (nt including the hanging arund time befre the parade). The main elements f the cmmissin / deliverables fr the Campaign wuld be: Meeting ur Parade Wrking Grup and taking initial ideas n bard (say, meet this grup in early/mid Feb say by Thu 11/Feb) Develpment f a wrkable cncept arund bringing chesin t the mvements f cyclists n the day and present t Wrking Grup fr feedback/further develpment (late Feb say by Fri 19/Feb). This might mean just sme f ur cyclists, as ppsed t all f them since in previus years this aspect f ur parade presence has prved difficult! Liaisn with the Parade Wrking Grup building up t a practice sessin fr apprx 20 persns (say n Sun 06 r Sun 13 March in Smithfield Market (it is suggested)) Further develpment/enhancement f cncept and liaisn with Wrking Grup and Artistic Directr in the days befre the parade! Active crdinatin n the day, starting early (8:00/9:00am) n Thu 17 th March, and bringing the prject alive! This is likely t invlve shuting rders at a mtley crew f cyclists f all ages, including while n the mve! Please als nte the fllwing (based n ur previus years experiences): Sme stretches f the parade rute are very narrw (say less than 6 metres wide) while ther stretches are very wide (e.g. arund Parnell Square nrth) On sme stretches, ur cyclists presence needs t mve frward at a reasnable pace (say a gd bit faster than a fast walking pace!) while at ther spts we remain in the nce place fr several minutes. At sme perids, we have tnnes f rm in frnt f us ( metres free), while at ther perid, we are squashed up against the crew ahead f us and behind us! The chregrapher must be able t handle these variables, as well as dealing with children n bikes and ther difficult-t-crdinate peple-wh-haven t-practiced-in-advance! ENDS
