17 Role of bike sharing «Bike sharing will make Paris a cycle capital city» Aim : to triple cycling use and reach a 15% modal share by 2020 A previously unseen (in Paris) 150 M budget Doubling the total lenght of bicycle lanes (from 700km to 1.400km) Create a cycling express network to cross Paris from N. to S. and from E. to W. Offering a cycling continuity between Paris/closed suburb (Paris s gateways) Other policy measures : bike parking, suporting cycling citizen associations, cycle touring, financial support to acquire a bike The development of bicycle in Paris City aims at improving global living conditions by tackling several issues: improvement of Air quality, reduction of noise nuisance, reduction of car traffic and reduction of congestion in public transport, way to improve Public Health by providing an easy physical activity to practice Biking offers a freedom of movement but it s also the most relevant way to commute for journey under 5km in city. Thus, bicycle has an important potential of development: half of current motorised commutes could be made by bike. Finally, Paris enjoys several assets for bicycle: a quite flat terrain, a mild climate, dense city with short distances, and beautiful urban landscapes
18 The future with «the Bike plan/plan vélo»
19 The future with «the Bike plan/plan vélo» Reinforce the existing bike parking offer : bike parking spaces by removing car parking spaces.
