2 As we move to the New Year, I want to say THANK YOU to all the great members of this chapter for your support thru the years. A special thanks to the Officer Group for making my time as Director a very memorable and fantastic journey. To Tony, for your guidance and support along with everyone at Mother Road Harley Davidson for just being who you are.. One of the biggest dangers to a rider is getting on your bike in the wrong state of mind. Riding angry, drowsy or distracted can be a recipe for disaster. Remember, when you re on a motorcycle you are ultimately the only one on the road looking out for you. If your mind and emotions are anywhere other than the road ahead, you are susceptible to making rookie mistakes that can end in a crash, injuries or 7. Know the forecast. Weather is a regular foil to perfect driving conditions and the dangers of wet or icy roads multiply when you re on two wheels. Not only do you have half the stability of a car, but the lack of a windshield and your body s exposure to driving rain add to the risk. Lack of visibility is a rider s worst nightmare and until you ve been caught on your bike in the rain you will never understand just how much being pelted by rain drops at 50 or even 30 miles per hour can hurt. 8. Make sure two isn t a crowd. If you plan on riding with someone on the back, you need to make sure you are comfortable with a passenger and also make sure that your passenger knows how to do their part to make sure the ride stays safe. Something safe is ensuring your passenger has the right gear. They need a helmet, protective clothing and the right shoes. You also need to make sure they know what to do when you turn corners or need to stop. It might be a good idea to take a test run together in a safe environment like a parking lot before hitting the open road or the stop-and-go of city traffic. To Be Continued 2

I hope that everyone had a great holiday season and we are all looking forward to an exciting new year. There are so many exciting new rides and adventures lined up for the 1st 6 months of Keep your eyes on the HOG website for the ride schedule and try to join the group for some fun rides. LOH members were able to present our charity For the Love of Paws with our donation for We presented Cheri with a check for just over $1350. Cheri has been able to do some great things for her animal sanctuary with LOH s assistance. Great job!!! Let s make a challenge to make our donations even bigger in 2018! There will not be an LOH meeting for the month of February. New officers will be attending the HOT training in Henderson. Be ready for all of the leaders to be on fire when they all return for our March meeting. If anyone has any suggestions or input, remember to put a note in the HOG box in the chapter hallway. Ride safe!! Ladies of Harley (LOH ) is a program sponsored by the Harley Owners Group (HOG ) to support women motorcycle enthusiasts - both riders and passengers! It is not a separate organization within HOG, but was established to encourage women to become more active in HOG and their local chapters. Remember, you don't have to have your own bike to be a LOH member. Women are encouraged to participate in chapter events as well as functions specifically for the ladies. 3

4 Hi everyone, There seems to be some confusion as to the rules of our membership. All members must maintain a current NATIONAL HOG membership with Harley Davidson to be a member of any local chapter. National memberships run on a fiscal calendar year which means when they receive your dues, you are good for a year from the time they get your information and money. You then receive your HOG patch and pin from Harley Davidson. LOCAL chapters, like ours run on a calendar year, which means your $20.00 is good from January 1st through December 31st. Basically, you are in 2 chapters, national and local. If your National membership expires or lapses, you are automatically out of both chapters until you are current on your dues. I will be setting up a table outside starting at next month s meeting with membership forms for anyone who would like to re-up in our chapter for next year. Remember, if you have participated in 2 rides January through June, and 2 rides July through December, Mother Road Harley Davidson will pay for your local chapter dues for next year! RIDE ON! Bunnie Road Manners In this age Road Rage and Common Disrespect is an all to familiar site when ridding on the streets, I think it would help to display good Road Manners. I would like everyone to remember if you choose to do anything or say something to someone to the person in the car s or truck s around you while your out ridding might just piss them off to the point they might try to retaliate and fail thinking that you got away with it. Just remember they will not forget and in the midst of their rage they will take it out on the next motorcycle rider that comes along. I ask everyone to please Ride Respectfully.
