Officer-initiated activity increased 7%, or 746 fewer events than the same time period in 212. 7 RESPONSE TIMES The response times reported here measure the time from when the dispatcher answers the phone until an officer arrives on scene. When compared to the third quarter of 212, the average response times during the third quarter of 213 for Priority 1 calls decreased by 41 seconds, decreased 19 seconds for Priority 2 calls and increased 26 seconds for Priority 3 calls and lower. 8 Count of Arrests ARRESTS During the third quarter of 213, there were 66 people arrested for 812 charges which is a 3% decrease in persons arrested and a % change in charges when compared to the third quarter of 212. With more juvenile arrests in the third quarter of 213 came more arrest charges; there were 14 more juvenile arrests and 24 more charges placed than during the 3rd quarter of 212. Forty-eight juveniles were arrested for 62 charges. There were slightly fewer adults arrested when compared to the third quarter of 212: 612 adults were arrested (6% decrease) for 812 charges (3% decrease). 9 ARRESTS About 4 out of 1 arrests made during the third quarter of 213 were for substance use related charges (alcohol, marijuana, illicit drugs, underage use). The other category is largely arrests for active warrants originating from other agencies. Note: there are more arrest charges than arrests (as reported on the previous page) because some people are arrested on multiple charges. 10 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE The number of domestic violence reports taken during the third quarter of 213 was consistent with the number taken during the third quarter of 212 (177 and 174, respectively). There were 45 arrests with domestic violence charges during the third quarter of 213, compared to 43 during the third quarter of 212. About 65% of the violent domestic reports resulted in an arrest for both quarterly time periods. 11 TRAFFIC CITATIONS The total number of traffic violations decreased 27% during the 3rdquarter of 213 when compared to the 3rd quarter of 212 (676 fewer citations). Still, about a quarter of cited violations were for speeding or reckless driving. Non-moving violations are fairly common and are included in the other category. These citations are typically for expired safety inspections, registrations, and license plates. This is consistent with the same time period in 212, when there were 16 crashes with 15 injuries. Most crashes occurred on Saturday afternoon between 4pm-6pm and Monday 4pm- 5pm. The result was 57 crashes and 52 reported injured persons, down from 83 crashes during the third quarter of 212 for the same cause factors. The most common violations were for parking in no parking zones, not having a current state license, and for parking violations in Georgetown South.
