If you have any questions, the ride coordinators directly at panohioinfo@cancer.org or you can reach us at ext Transportation Wednesday, July 22 BUS DEPARTURE TIMES Pan Ohio Hope Ride provides transportation to Cleveland for The Start of the tour. The pick-up locations are on Wednesday, July 22 nd at the following locations. Packet Pick-Up will be available immediately prior to bus departure as well. Please arrive at least 45 minutes to an hour prior in order to get luggage and your bikes loaded up. * All Bikes must have Rider # attached to bike before putting on truck. Bike Transportation For those that are traveling to the Start on POHR bus transport. It is important to know that your bike will be taken directly to the Start Line at the Plain Dealer Building and stored overnight. You will not be able to access your bike while staying overnight at Case.
2 Page 2 Check-In Information Riders who have earned their jersey by July 15 th will receive it in the mail.jerseys earned after that will be available at the Cleveland Check-In or at the Recognition Dinner on Saturday, July 25. All riders will still need to check in at one of our registration points to receive their rider numbers, luggage tags, and goodie bags. * Main Check-In will happen in Cleveland Tuesday, July 21 Thursday, July 23. Riders who have indicated that they will be arriving on POHR buses from Cincinnati, Columbus, Springfield, and Toledo and those that have indicated on the Lodging & Transportation Reservation that they would like to pick up their packet elsewhere are eligible for Pre- Event Check-In at one of the locations listed below. (If you cannot remember what you elected on the lodging reservation form or need to switch please contact panohioinfo@cancer.org) **Important All riders traveling from one of our 4 pick-up locations in Ohio (Cincinnati, Columbus, Springfield, or Toledo) must put your bike number on your bike before placing it in the trucks to Cleveland. Tuesday, July 21 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Riders who are traveling to Cleveland but not on a POHR bus, you will also be able to drop your bike off when picking up Rider Packet and it will be transported to the Start Line in the morning.) (Bus will depart at 1:30 p.m.) ONE & TWO DAY RIDER Event Check-In - One and Two Day Riders can arrange packet pick-up prior to the event by indicating that on their lodging and transportation reservation. Otherwise, their packets will be available on the course as follows: Riding Day 1 & 2: Any of the Cleveland Check-In times/locations Riding Days 3 & 4 OR Day 3 (1 Day Rider): Otterbein Student Center 100 W. Home St. Westerville, OH. On Saturday, July 25 6 AM 7:15 a.m. *If you need to check in the night before contact Paul Purdy at Riding Day 4: Wittenberg HPER Center- 250 Bill Edwards Dr, Springfield, OH 45501, 6:30 a.m. RIDER PACKET CONTENTS Rider Numbers - All riders will be given a jersey bib with their number, a bike number, helmet number (optional), rider number luggage tags and color coded luggage tags. Riders are also provided a wristband that must be worn throughout the entire ride. Rider Bib Number/Bike Number is required to be worn at all times on the course. Helmet number is optional. Rider Wristbands MUST be worn at all times and filled out with emergency contact information. This also is your meal ticket throughout the ride. Rider Bib Numbers Rider bib numbers will have your First Name and Hometown on your bib this year. The back of the bib will also have your emergency contact information pre-written but will require you to write down your allergies, medication history, etc. It is imperative that you fill out this information in case of an emergency. Rider Number Luggage Tags- Please place your rider number luggage tags on your bags so that the loading crews can line up luggage in numerical order when organizing. Wristbands - You are provided 2 GREEN Wristbands with your Rider Number. Each band has a spot for emergency contact information. It is imperative that you place your emergency contact information on this band in case of an accident. These bands are also your ticket to meals, so they must be worn at all times. You are given two bands in case the first one falls off or gets dirty. Color Coded Luggage Tags - These are very important tags that will have your name, number, and dorm room codes. These tags must be attached to your luggage! The tags will be color coded for luggage s destination point at the finish of the ride.
4 Page 4 Red = Cleveland Blue = Columbus Orange = Springfield Green = Toledo White = Cincinnati Being picked up or not riding the bus Daily Start Times Day 1 9 AM Escorted group departure from Plain Dealer Plaza Line up by 8:30 AM Day 2 6:30 to 8 AM rolling departure from the Lowry Student Center - Wooster Day 3 7:30 AM Escorted group departure will leave the from the Public Works Driveway that is just a short distance from the Otterbein Student Center. Maps will be given out as to where to go upon arrival at Otterbein. Line up begins at 7:15 AM and the police will escort the group all the way down to the Ohio State House. If a rider chooses to leave prior to or after the group time they will be permitted to do so, but will have to obey all traffic laws. Day 4 6:30 to 7:30 AM rolling departure from the Wittenberg HPERCenter Athletic Facility START LINE*** The 2015 Pan Ohio Hope Ride Start Line will be again at the Plain Dealer Plaza (1801 Superior Ave. Cleveland, OH 44114) and we will take off at 9 AM this year with riders to be lined up at 8:30 AM. This is a new partnership with the Plain Dealer that was brought together by POHR prior sponsor/team, MCPc. The physical Start will take place in front of Plain Dealer Plaza on Superior Ave. between E. 21 st St. and E. 18 th St. with a police escort through the city. Check-In will be available at the Plain Dealer Plaza from 6:30-8AM. Please see the Start Line Map for more details. Drop-Off will also take place at the Plain Dealer Plaza as well as temporary parking for the Start. Four-Day Parking For those that have pre-paid for Four-Day Parking, you will be parking in a secure Parking Garage at the Plain Dealer Plaza GPS Address 2020 St. Clair Ave. Cleveland, OH for the four days and will receive a Parking Pass at the time of your Check-In. Shuttles From Case There will be shuttles running from 6:15 7:45 AM from Case s Dorms to the Start Line. Luggage will be dropped off outside of the Case Dorms, riders will then shuttle to the start, and bikes will be waiting for the riders at the secured Bike Corral at the Start Line. Bicycle Transport /Storage For participants traveling on POHR Bus Transportation from Cincinnati, Columbus, Toledo, or Springfield - your bikes will be taken directly to the Start Location on Wednesday Night, unloaded in to our Secured/Walled Bike Corral Tent at the Start Line. (BIKES WILL BE WATCHED OVER BY HIRED SECURITY THE ENTIRE NIGHT). In the morning when riders are shuttled to the Start they will need to show their wristband at the Bike Corral in order to obtain their bike. Breakfast For participants staying on campus at Case there will be a full breakfast available in the Leutner Commons Dining Facility. For participants not staying on campus and riders who are being dropped off, a continental breakfast will be available at the Start Line. Luggage Drop There will be two Penske Trucks for Luggage Drop at the Plain Dealer Plaza for local riders who are being dropped off and for any miscellaneous luggage that riders staying at Case may want to bring down to the Start Line. It is imperative that all luggage that is going on these trucks has your color coded luggage tags from Check-In on them before being put on the Penske Luggage Trucks.
5 Page 5 Bike Drop for riders who are traveling to Cleveland but not on a POHR bus - you will also be able to drop your bike off when picking up Rider Packet at the Cleveland ACS Office Check-In Monday Wednesday and it will be transported to the Start Line in the morning. Overnights at Schools Dorm Check-In, Two Day Check-In, daily start location, and morning Water/Gatorade stations : Wooster Lowry Student Center 1149 Beall Dr. Wooster, OH Otterbein Student Center 100 W. Home St. Westerville, OH Wittenberg HPERCenter 200 Bill Edwards Dr. Springfield, OH Bike Storage At each site, there will be secure bike storage. You will be required to show your rider numbered wristband to retrieve your bike at the Start Line and in the morning at the schools. Cleveland - July 22 Bikes will be stored in a security patrolled bike corral overnight at the Start Line Wooster July 23 Campus Athletic Facility, Gault, Luce and Bornhuetter Halls Otterbein- July 24 Campus Field House Wittenberg July 25 Campus HPER Center Athletic Facility Hotel Shuttles For those that have opted to stay in hotels we have contracted with local shuttle companies: Wooster- Lowry Hall 1189 Beall Ave. Wooster, OH shuttling to the Hilton Garden Inn (959 Dover Rd. Wooster, OH 44691) and the Best Western. Shuttle Location is in front of Lowry Hall Thursday, July 23-1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, July 24 5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Otterbein- Student Center 100 W. Home St. Westerville, OH shuttling to the Fairfield Inn (9000 Worthington Road, Westerville, OH 43082) and the Four Points by Sheraton (8505 Pulsar Place, Columbus, OH 43240). Shuttle Location outside of Otterbein Student Center. Friday, July 24-2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 25-5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wittenberg: Tower Hall parking lot at corner of Bill Edwards Dr. and Woodlawn shuttling to the Courtyard Marriott (100 S. Fountain Ave. Springfield, OH) and the Hampton Inn (101 W. Leffel Lane, Springfield, OH 45506). Saturday, July, p.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday, July 26 5:00 a.m. to 8 a.m. Pan Ohio Hope Ride Daily Details Wednesday, July 22 Rider Packet Pick Up available from 8:30 AM to 9 PM at the ACS Cleveland Office. Bicycle drop-off for those riders who drove themselves to Cleveland - If you are not riding up on the provided POHR Bus transportation but are traveling in from out of town, you will drop your bike off at the Check-In area at the ACS Office on Wed. July 24 when you pick up your packet. Your bike will then be transported down to the Start Line and will be waiting for you in the morning. Bicycle Drop off for riders traveling on POHR Bus - If you are being transported by the bus from Cincinnati, Columbus, Springfield, Toledo, and Wooster your bike will be moved from the Penske Trucks to the Bike Corral at the Start Line. It is required that your rider number be on your bike before you put it on the truck.
6 Page 6 Dorm Check-in at Case Western Reserve University All riders will take their overnight gear with them and check in for the dorms with the conference staff at the Village Dorms House #4 at 1697 E. 116 th St. (Check in will be on your right at the dorms. There is temporary parking on this street. Please park and check in. At check-in you will get your room keycard and temporary ID card (which you will need to access the dorms as well as the long-term parking facility). After checking-in, you will be pointed to the Village House (your lodging for the night). Parking Overnight at Case on Wednesday, July 22 For participants traveling up to Cleveland that are not riding the bus, there will be parking available in the Case Parking Garage overnight and you will then move your car to the Start Line at the Plain Dealer Plaza for Four-Day parking during the ride. Wednesday, July 22 Kick-off Celebration Party All riders are invited to meet up at the Cleveland Hope Lodge Mayfield Rd, Cleveland, OH 44106, (216) for our Kick-off Celebration Party. From 6 to 8:30 p.m., riders can get to know one another, while feasting on a dinner including pasta, chicken, salad, and more! We ll talk about tour details, logistics, etc. and hear inspiration stories from people who will remind us of why we re riding and who each of us is riding for. There will be a shuttle to and from the Kick-off Celebration at the Hope Lodge and the dorms at Case running from 5:45 8:45 PM. The Hope Lodge is also just a short walk from the dorms and maps will be provided. For those riders who are not staying overnight, there is a University Hospital parking garage next door to the Hope Lodge on Mayfield Rd. and there will be an attendant there to grant you access. Thursday, July 23 Day 1 6 am 7:15 am Breakfast on Case Campus at Leutner Commons & Continental Breakfast at the Plain Dealer Plaza Start Line 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Shuttle Bus Transportation running from Case Western to Plain Dealer Plaza 9 a.m. Ride begins (All riders should be lined up by 8:30 a.m. at the START LINE which is located at the Plain Dealer Plaza Building 1801 Superior Ave. Cleveland, OH 44114) Volunteers and visitors who are attending The Start, temporary parking is available at the Emperor s Palace Restaurant Parking Lot 2136 Rockwell Ave. Cleveland, OH See Map For Details # of rest stops = 5 Lunch stop Medina Town Square Winking Lizard Catering **Special announcements for the end of Day 1 There will be a reception for riders in the basement of Lowry Student Center at the College of Wooster before dinner. Party/Reception to follow dinner on the back patio of Lowry Student Center Access to the oncampus bowling lanes will be available. All riders must check in regardless of whether they are staying in dorms or not, in order to make sure that everyone has arrived safely from that day.
7 Page 7 Friday, July 24 Day 2 5:45 a.m. 7:15 a.m. Breakfast 6:30-8 a.m. - Daily Start Times # of rest stops = 7 Lunch location = Danville Town Square provided by Subway and Corporate Caterers of Dublin **Special announcements for the end of Day 2 Otterbein is a dry campus. Please respect the school s policy. **NEW - There will be a reception with food and drinks at the Old Bag of Nails (24 N. State St. Westerville, OH 43081), from 7 to 11 PM, which is a short walking distance from campus. All riders must check in regardless of whether they are staying in the dorms or not in order to make sure that everyone has arrived safely. Saturday, July 25 Day 3 6:30 7:30 a.m. Rider check in at Otterbein University Dining Hall steps (for 2-day cyclists) 6 7:30 a.m. Breakfast in the Dining Hall 7:30 a.m. Group departure time from the Public Works Driveway on Park Meadow St. 0.7 miles in to the day s route from the Otterbein Student Center # of rest stops = 4 Lunch location = Prairie Oaks - Lunch provided by Corporate Caterers of Dublin. **Special announcements for the end of Day 3 Recognition Dinner 6:30 pm -There will be having a casual buffet style banquet at 6:30 pm at Wittenberg University s HPERCenter Gym. Shortly after everyone arrives, our awards presentation, special speakers, prize drawings, and group photos will take place here. We encourage everyone to attend this special evening. All riders must check in regardless of whether they are staying in the dorms or not, in order to make sure that everyone has arrived safely. Turn dorm keys in to individual dorm lobbies Sunday, July 26 Day 4 5:45 7:00 a.m. Breakfast 6:30 7:30 a.m Daily Start Time # of rest stops = 6 Lunch location = Morrow - Lunch provided by Corporate Caterers of Dublin GROUP ESCORTED FINISH The Day 4 Route includes all riders following a new course in to one of Cincinnati s riverfront parks- the LeBlond Recreation Center. This will be our group staging area. Riders will gather at this park for Police Escorted finish Group Departures at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, & 3:30. If a rider arrives before 12:30 and wants to ride in before the group escorts, they may do so with the exception that NO riders will be permitted to leave the Staging Area before 11:30AM as the Finish Line will not be ready to accommodate riders. **Flatter course If you prefer a flatter course you may take the Little Miami Trail from the beginning of the day until the Foster Park Water Stop.
8 Page 8 NEW ** Course Closure At 2 PM we will begin to close the course starting at the Foster Park Water Stop. From here riders will be SAG driven to either the Dogwood Park Water Stop or the Group Staging Area. NEW ***Optional Early-morning SAG If a rider anticipates that they would like a little bit of a jump start in the morning in order to be able to comfortably arrive to the finish line Staging Area, we will be offering our SAG drivers to bring them to the first water stop at Xenia Station (Mile 18 on the course). Anyone interested in this option will be asked to stay after the Recognition Dinner to plan on a departure time. The Finish! A Celebration of Hope! The Finish will be at Yeatman s Cove (705 E. Pete Rose Way Cincinnati, OH 45202) in downtown Cincinnati on the River. This location will offer free parking, green space, restroom access, and a beautiful view of downtown Cincinnati. The party will feature a catered buffet by Vonderhaar s Catering of Cincinnati and will be a great time on the river. A shower truck will be available for riders. We ask that you bring your own towel, soap, and shampoo for The Finish. Bags will be provided for wet clothes/towels for the ride home. Following the celebration, our departure charter bus transportation will leave at 5 p.m. Bikes will be transported by our donated Penske Trucks. See the Finish Line map for which Penske Truck to put your bike on. As soon as you arrive at the finish, the first thing you will do is put your bike on the Penske Truck if it is being transported to one of our return cities Cleveland, Columbus, Springfield, and Toledo. Boxed lunches will be available for those that are riding the buses back. Sunday, July 26- The Finish - BUS DEPARTURE TIME Pan Ohio Hope Ride offers charter bus service (included in your registration fee) to Cleveland, Columbus, Springfield, Toledo, and Wooster for those needing a ride home after the tour finishes in Cincinnati. All buses will leave at 5 p.m. Please make sure to bring your luggage to the bus and that your bike is on the proper truck home. The Penske trucks will leave prior to the buses in order to get your bikes unloaded in Columbus and Cleveland.
