Wow we have been busy over the last couple of months. We have had some great Tournaments, the State Titles, Challenge bouts, the Masters, Games and the start of State training. Results from all Tournaments are available on the BSA website. RINGSPORT BOXER OF THE MONTH Congratulations to Johan Linde from ASG Boxing Club, for winning the August Ringsport boxer of the month and Nelson Savage from Para Hills Boxing Club, for winning the September Ringsport boxer of the month. The Ringsport boxer of the month for October will be presented at the BSA tournament on Saturday November 19 th. AIBA OLYMPIC PROMOTION I have ed out a copy of the AIBA Olympic Promotion to everyone on my list. If you have not received the attachment please contact Kylie for a copy. The promotion ends on the 28 th October. ORDERS NEED TO BE IN ASAP. Because there is a minimum amount you can order for each set, place your order with BSA and we will all order together. We will not get any further discount though. BSA will then post your order to you when it comes in. I will post a copy of the AIBA Olympic Promotion along with an order form to everyone on our mailing list. LEVEL ONE COACHES COURSES Boxing SA would like to hold another Level 1 coaches course next month. - One half day refreshers course - One full day new Level 1 coaches course These courses will only be offered pending the amount of people interested. If you are interested in the course or need to update you Level 1 Badge then please phone or the Secretary of BSA, Kylie.

2 PUBLIC SPARRING SESSIONS Any clubs wishing to hold public sparing sessions must seek approval from Boxing SA. All participants must also be registered and have a current Boxing SA medical. Below is the ruling under the martial arts compliance act regarding unsanctioned events. An unsanctioned event would be captured under section 3 of the Boxing and Martial Arts Act Boxing and Martial Arts Act Interpretation Professional or public boxing or martial arts event means a boxing or martial arts event (including an exhibition of sparring)- (a) that is conducted for profit; or (b) in which the contestants participate for a prize (other than a trophy) or for a monetary reward; or (c) public attendance at which is actively promoted by the event s promoter (whether or not a fee is charged for admission). 6 - (Promoters must be licensed) (1) A person must not act as a promoter of a professional or public boxing or martial art event unless licensed under this Part Maximum Penalty :$ or imprisonment for 12 months. FUNDRAISERS Boxing SA 45 s CLUB FUNDRAISER This is a fundraiser that is drawn by Saturday Xlotto Supplementary numbers that is run for 10 weeks. We require 45 people to buy a number for $20. Once we have 45 people, you will be given a number between 1 and 45 and the draws will commence. If your number is the first Supplementary number drawn for Saturday Xlotto you will receive $25. If your number is the 2 nd Supplementary number drawn for Saturday Xlotto you will receive $10. You will have the same number for 10 weeks, which means you will have 20 chances of winning a prize. If you are interested in entering this fundraiser please let one of the BSA committee know. This fundraising goes towards venue hire for BSA State training. Major Club Raffle Due to so many books still outstanding the draw date has changed to the 19 th November. All books need to be posted in by the 12 th November to the BSA Head office (address at top of newsletter) or arrangements made for pick up by a committee member. So you have a couple of weeks to sell some left over books. If you have not sold any or have some left over PLEASE return them as well. All monies raised will go straight back into the clubs.

3 13 TH AUSTRALIAN MASTERS GAMES - BOXING All masters Games Results are available on the Internet. If you do not have access to the Internet and would like a copy of the results posted out to you, please contact the Kylie, Secretary of BSA on (please leave a voice message so I can get back to you) Boxing Invitational Masters Championships We have had an extraordinary amount of positive feedback from the Masters Boxing Competition. People are so keen to get back in the ring that instead of waiting for another Masters Event we are going to have our own. Boxing SA has decided to make this a regular event occurring annually. - All nominating boxers need to be registered in their own state to participate. - Competition Registration will be $ (All boxers) This will include a Polo Shirt and a small goody bag (pending Sponsor donations) Plus: Special evening event on Saturday Sponsorship for 2012 Boxing Invitational Masters Championships To ensure a successful event we are asking for sponsorship. 5 AUSTRALIAN NATIONALS JANUARY 31 ST 5 TH FEBRUARY The Australian Championships will be held in Tasmania and will be conducted over a 5-day period. Competition days are 1 st 5 th Feb. Congratulations to Mick Campion for gaining the position of State Coach and to Paul Panos who will be the team manager. Congratulations to the boxers selected for the State Team squad. If you have any questions please call Mick Campion on Boxer age requirements for the 2012 Championships are: Elite Men and Women to have been born in the years Youth Man and Women to have been born in the years Junior Men and Women to have been born in the years Schoolboys/girls to have been born in the years The board of Boxing Australia Inc. has determined, also, that at the 2012 Australian Championships Australian Passports need only be produced by those boxers entering the designated National Selection Events at the Championships. That is, at the 2012 Championships only boxers entering the Elite Men s, Elite Women and Youth Men s competitions need to produce their current Australian Passport. Compulsory State Team Training Sessions Training will be divided up into 2 x 4 week blocks, 4 before Christmas and 4 after leading unto the Australian Titles. We will have a 2-week break for Christmas. We are thinking of doing technical days for at least the duration of the first block maybe more, which will be strictly for team members only. Then for the remainder of the weeks we will be holding competition sparring, which will be open for any boxer wishing to participate. Training will be at Fortus Team Gym, 233 Henley Beach Road Torrensville, at 11am sharp. Note these dates down 1. Sat. 26th Nov 5. Sat 7th Jan 2. Sat. 3rd Dec 6. Sat.14th Jan 3. Sat. 10th Dec 7. Sat. 21st Jan 4. Sat. 17th Dec 8. Sat. 28th Jan A 4-week NON-Compulsory training program commenced last weekend and will go for the next three weeks. Starting at 11am at the Snake Pit (just behind the Police Academy) Fort Largs, Lady Gowrie Drive. This training will consist of a beach run, some skills training and some pads work. These sessions are mainly for city based senior boxers but it is also open to any state team member that can make it. Please bring your sparring gear. A State team Policy pack will be handed out to all successful boxers that must be read and signed by the boxer.
