2 Marathon World Championship, Juniors & Seniors September 20th to 22nd 2013 Copenhagen / Lake Bagsvaerd Denmark Dear friends from all over the World We look forward to seeing many of the athletes again who participated at the World CUP Marathon 2012 on Lake Bagsvaerd. We also look forward to bidding new participants welcome to one of the World s most beautiful regatta facilities. Being situated in the frame of beautiful natural area, the regatta facility is perfect both for athletic competitions at the highest level and for the meeting between people. It makes us good spirited when we are many people sharing great events, and we know that the World Marathon Championships 2013 will be another great experience. The entire world elite comes to Denmark and to Denmark s national regatta stadium on Lake Bagsvaerd. This is where the Danish elite usually practice and where the international elite compete. In 2012 we had a very successful general rehearsal. Together with the Danish Canoe Federation, Sport Event Denmark and the two municipalities, Lyngby-Taarbaek and Gladsaxe, it became a fantastic event. When you come in September, you will experience the wonderful Danish summer heading towards autumn. Be sure that it is worth looking forward to. 3 Welcome to the City of Lyngby-Taarbæk For several years we have seen many paddlers on Lake Bagsvaerd and on Lake Lyngby in canoes as well as in kayaks, from new beginners uncertainly struggling forward to the elite who paddle up and down the lanes at breakneck speed. We are proud that through the years athletes from the local clubs have been part of the World elite. Amongst who, some have obtained excellent results and have won medals. We look forward to bidding you welcome and we are proud being able to offer such beautiful training surrounding to Denmark s canoeing elite. Can you imagine a better scene than this where you can follow the changing seasons, from the ice on the lake melting in the spring and the trees getting leafs that will change colours through the summer to autumn? In The Municipality of Lyngby-Taabaek you also have the opportunity to go to an art exhibition at Sophienholm, situated at Lake Bagsvaerd across from the rowing stadium. If you are lucky to have some spare time between training and competition, you have the best shopping opportunities in Kongens Lyngby and of course excellent possibilities for taking a break at one of the numerous cafes or restaurants. 4 The Regatta Course of the Marathon World Championship Programme: Program: Monday Wednesday 16 September 20th June Arrival Arrival The Regatta Course of the Marathon World Championship will take place on Lake Bagsvaerd. The Start is held next to the tower, and the first 1930 meters are in a straight line to the first turning-point. The start line, finish line and portage will be at the regatta course, and according to the ICF regulations the course is a lap course with a short last lap of 1000 m. The depth of the course will be at least 2.0 meters everywhere. A 120 meter portage is placed just after the finish line, and is leading across a grass bank. The portage area is clearly marked by fences and has red and yellow marks at the disembarkation and embarkation places. Disembarkation and embarkation takes place at pontoons. The portage will allow at least five K2 simultaneously. 5 Entries: Preliminary entry & Hotel booking form & boat rental: June 19th Numerical/preliminary entry must be entered into an online questionnaire. This includes information regarding team size, travel plan, boat rental and lunch at the venue. Please go to: Final Hotel reservation: July 29th : Hotel reservation: The OC is working closely with the House of sport, who houses the National Olympic Committee and run a hotel and conference facility. The House of sport and it dedicated staff will assist you in organizing accommodation which is both convenient, and pleasant. We have obtained the best rates possible and offer accommodation in a range of qualities from a 4* to a 2*. Rates varies from a night. The House of sport will assist you in getting the best rates possible. Most hotels include breakfast and the optional hot evening meal. Evening meals are booked through the House of sport. Please see the details in the information provided by the House of sport. Note that shuttle bus will only be available a the official event hotels booked through the House of sport. All matters regarding ISIS must be addressed to ICF HQ. The organizers do not have administrative access to the ISIS system. Be prepared - the ISIS system is already ready for pre accreditation so your federation can start entering athletes into the database already now. This will make final accreditation more smooth. Also teamstaff, VIP and others might need to register for several events and by using ISIS they are reusable saving time and effort for you. Pre accreditation is in no way a substitute for numerical entry and will not serve such purpose. For masters a separate registration system will be set up. Also a separate bulletin will be issued. 6 Participation fee: 100 per person, which includes the following: Accreditation Medical care at the venue Participation at the opening ceremony Security service at the venue Access pass and parking card for one trailer at the venue and accreditation card for vehicles parking outside the venue Transfer CPH airport to hotel or racing venue Shuttle service between racing venue and official accommodation Additional Rates For teams that order lunch at venue together with the nominal entry a special rate of 20 per lunch is available. Details vil be coordinated by .it will also be possible to buy light meals from the on-site kiosk. Evening meals should be ordered through the House of Sports while booking accommodation. Please note that some hotels do not offer evening meals. Rates of evening meals vary at the different hotels. Visa: Participants from countries, for which the possession of a visa is required, will upon request receive a confirmation letter from the Danish Canoe Federation, once their participation is confirmed. Detailed information about the Danish visa rules, including which foreign nationals need visas, can be obtained from the website of the Danish Immigration Service. Please note, that you can not file for a visa earlier than 3 months before your date of arrival. Normally a short stay visa is issued within days and through a non-danish representation about 30 days. Insurance and Medical service: All participants are firmly advised to get an appropriate medical insurance from their respective Federations. First aid and emergency medical service will be available at Bagsvaerd Regatta Course, from September 18th September 22nd 2013 to everyone requiring medical assistance. A hospital in Herlev (situated close to the regatta course) will be on stand by to cover the needs during the event. You are kindly requested to send a copy of the receipt of payment, to: marathon@kano-kajak.dk or by fax: Terms of payment: 50% of the total amount must be paid by June 19th 2013 Final payment September 5th 2013 Boat rental: Countries wishing to rent boats for the competition must inform the OC about their needs through the appropriate part of the questionnaire for numerical entry. The OC will work together with the manufacturers to provide good solutions. Final booking should be agreed upon directly with the manufacturers.
