1 8 th EDBF EUROPEAN DRAGON BOAT RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS SABAUDIA (Latina) ITALY September 2008 INFORMATION BULLETIN No.2 LOCATION: "Sabaudia", Latina, Italy is situated in the Center of Italy The Airport is Roma Fiumicino or Roma Ciampino which is about 1h by road. The Railway Station is Latina Scalo about 30 minutes from Sabaudia. More information/maps: REGATTA COURSE: The Regatta Course and technical facilities are to EDBF standards for European Championships. The number of lanes shall not exceed SIX, with a width of at least 13.5 meter per lane. There will be photofinish equipment to 1/1000 second accuracy. COMPETITION FORMAT: The EC will be conducted under the IDBF Competition Regulations and IDBF Rules of Racing by appointed IDBF International Race Officials and FIDB National Officials, under the direction of an IDBF-appointed Chief Official and with a Jury nominated by the EDBF Executive Committee. CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES and DISTANCES: Premier: Open/ Mixed/ Women over 200m, 500m (1 entry, per Competition Class) Open/Women/Mixed over 2000m (1 entry for each race per Country) Seniors: 040 & 050 (Grand Dragons) Open/ Mixed/ Women over 200m, 500m (2 Senior entries per Comp Class the entry can be 2 x 040 or 2 x O50 or 1 x x 050. Sun. 7 Sept approx 500 mixed (am) open and women (pm) 500 Finals Corporate and Community Races Sun. Evening Celebration Party * The above programme is provisional and subject to alteration and final confirmation from the EDBF. ENTRIES: (which must be submitted by the EDBF Member concerned) PRELIMINARY ENTRIES & ACCOMMODATION DEPOSIT to Federazione Italiana Dragon Boat (Euro 500 per crew, non-refundable as Accomodation Deposit) by 15 APRIL 08 NUMERATIVE ENTRIES & REGATTA FEES DEPOSIT to Federazione Italiana Dragon Boat (Euro per crew deposit towards Regatta Fees) by 1 JUNE 08 NAMED ENTRIES & BALANCE OF ACCOMODATION & REGATTA FEES to: Federazione Italiana Dragon Boat by Closing Date: 31 JULY 08 Note: Teams submitting Late Named Entries will be charged a Late Entry Fee of Euro , per Crew and may be required to race in an outside lane if the Race Programme has been completed. Accommodation may be booked, so you are advised to book early. PERSONAL SAFETY. All Crew Members must be water-confident and ideally be able to swim at least 50 meters. It is the Crew Manager's responsibility to ensure that this limitation is complied with and to ensure that known weak swimmers wear personal flotation aids. Crews compete entirely at their own risk and must be Fit to Race, as defined in the EDBF Competition Regulations. BOATS AND EQUIPMENT: Up to twelve boats will be provided by the Championships Organizers. Competing Crews may bring their own boats provided they are to IDBF Specification. Crews are expected to bring their own paddles provided they conform to the IDBF Paddle Specification 202a. 2 of 6

3 ACCOMMODATION PACKAGE: The Federazione Italiana Dragon Boat will provide Hotel Accomodation with half board and lunch tickets for the racing days to all National Teams (Competitors, Team officials and Supporters travelling with the team) that accept one of the Accomodation Packages. Participating crews will be offered budget accommodation at Hotels situated nearby the regatta course in Sabaudia. All packages include (based on 4 night minimum): Half board including breakfast and dinner (in twin/double rooms and/or some triple) Lunches on the 6 th and 7 th September Local ground transportation during the Championships Mementoes Regatta Fees (EDBF Registration of Euro 5 and Admin Fee of Euro 50, per person) Celebration Party stars **** 380,00 *** 340,00 ** 275,00 Extra: Hotels: Single rooms extra night cost is (including breakfast and dinner): stars **** 80,00 *** 65,00 ** 45,00 Transport to and from Airports in Rome Unhosted options are also available for those keen to keep costs to the absolute minimum. 4 How to arrive in Sabaudia: By car: From Rome and the ring road GRA, take exit SS148 Pontina and follow the indication for Latina. After 23 km take SS Mediana towards Napoli. Exit at Sabaudia and turn right in via Migliara 53, that will lead you to Sabaudia. From highway A1 and Frosinone, exit ay the Frosinone junction, turn right on SS156 and left on SP Marittima II, towards Terracina. Continue on via Migliara 53 until Sabaudia. By train: From Roma Termini to the Priverno Fossanova station (with connections to Rome s central station), take a bus to Sabaudia. By airplane: From Rome s Leonardo Da Vinci-Fiumucino airport, take the express train to Termini central station and proceed by train, or by underground and then by coach. From Rome s Ciampino airport, take the COTRAL bus directly to the Laurentina station and then the COTRAL bus to Sabaudia. By coach: From Rome s Metro B Eur Fermi bus terminal in the Eur district, take the COTRAL bus to Sabaudia. BOOKING BOOKING BOOKING BOOKING BOOKING: You are asked to notify us of your accommodation and transportation requirements as soon as possible, using the forms included with Bulletin No 2. If you do not have a copy of these then contact the organising committee immediately. 1st Non-refundable Deposit of 500 Euro per Crew: towards any Accommodation package is required by 15 April (Please ensure that your Team s "Preliminary Entry" is submitted by your EDBF member association). 2nd Non-refundable Deposit of 500 Euro per Crew towards the Championship "Regatta Fees is required by 1 June By 1 June 2008 each Team must also confirm its "Numerative Entry" (total number of crews entered) for the Championships and any full accommodation package or other services. 31 st July 2008: Full Payment of all outstanding fees after which your team risks forfeiting all of its accommodation package deposit! "Final Named Entry" (names of all participants, including Team Officials) is required by 31 July of 6

5 CELEBRATION PARTY: We are expecting to have a celebration on Sunday evening. More details in a later Bulletin. (Tickets booked later for the Celebration Party will be charged at Euro per person. Lunch Vouchers can be purchased at Euro each.) The amount of all types of accommodation available to Sabaudia 2008 is limited and therefore if you have not booked yours by the 1 st June 2008, Sabaudia 2008 cannot guarantee that the accommodation package you seek will be available at a later date. While you are of course free to make all your own arrangements, Europei 2008 would advise you to take advantage of the Full Championships Package, which in addition to the accommodation also includes transport to and from the Regatta Course, lunches during the Championships, Mementoes and the Celebration Party. Please remember to book in time! In Sabaudia September is the height of tourist season For Teams who chose to make all their own arrangements (including shuttle bus transportation to, from and in Rome) without assistance from Sabaudia 2008 and who do not wish to receive any Mementoes or go to the Celebration Party, there will be Regatta Fee of Euro 55, per person. The Regatta Fee per person must be paid with your Named Entry on or before 31 July The check or money order in EURO (or National Currency equivalent on the day) should be made payable to the: Federazione Italiana Dragon Boat see payment details below. PHOTO IDs: All participants, including Team Offcials and Official Supporters are required to send two passport-sized recent photographs (4cm by 6cm) to the organizer with their Named Entries, upon payment of all outstanding fees by July 31. The name of the person and crew must be written clearly on the back of each photograph.
