INTERNATIONAL PRESELECTION: 3.1 Athletes who achieve the following performance criteria in the relevant Olympic Discipline Events at the 2017 ICF Sprint World Championships, will be automatically preselected for that event at the National Senior Selection Regatta: Top eight (8) in the A-Final Men s K1 200; K and C1 1000; and Women s K1 200, K1 500 and C1 200 Events Top six (6) in the A-Final: Men s K and C and Women s K2 500 and C2 500 Events Top three (3) in the A-Final: Men s K4 500 and Women s K4 500 Events DOMESTIC SELECTION:

3.2 Athletes who have not qualified under clause C.3.1 of this Criteria may achieve selection to the National Senior Selection Regatta: automatically under clause C.3.3; or through being offered a wildcard entry under clause C Athletes will achieve automatic selection to the National Senior Selection Regatta by achieving the following performance criteria at the Grand Prix 2 event (SIRC, 9th- 11th February, 2018): Men s K1 200, K1 500 and K1 1000; and, Women s K1 200 and K1 500 Olympic Events: the fourteen (14) highest placed eligible K1 Athletes, subject to each Athlete finishing within 8% of the winner's time; for the purposes of this clause C3.3.1, the "winner's time" refers to the winner of the A Final for that event, irrespective of whether the winner is eligible for selection or was already selected to the National Senior Selection Regatta; and where one or more of the fourteen (14) highest placed Athletes are already selected to the National Senior Selection Regatta under clause C.3.1, no additional Athletes will be selected to replace that position Men s K2 500, K2 1000, C and C2 1000; and, Women s K2 500, C1 200 and C2 500 Olympic Events: the six (6) highest placed eligible C1 Athletes, and the six (6) highest placed eligible K2 and C2 Crews, subject to each Athlete (or Crew where applicable) finishing within 8% of the winner's time; for the purposes of this clause C3.3.2, the "winner's time" refers to the winner of the A Final for that event, irrespective of whether the winner is eligible for selection or was already selected to the National Senior Selection Regatta; and where one or more of the six (6) highest placed C1 Athletes or K2 and C2 crews are already selected to the National Senior Selection Regatta under clause C.3.1, no additional Athletes or Crews will be selected to replace that position. 3.4 Subject to clauses C C.3.7 (inclusive), the NPD may in his/her absolute discretion award one or more wildcard entries for Athletes to be selected for the National Senior Selection Regatta. 3.5 The NPD may only award one or more wildcard entries where one or both the following occur: there are less than 18 Athletes selected for a K1 event; and

3.5.2 there are less than 9 Athletes or Crews selected for any single K2 and Canoe class event, under clauses C.3.1 and C.3.3 of this Criteria. The NPD must not award any additional wildcard entries than it takes to fill a maximum of 18 Athletes for any K1 event and 9 Athletes or Crews for any K2 or Canoe class event. 3.6 If, after allocating wildcards entries, there are remaining positions available to fill for any particular event, up to the maximum number of entrants permissible under clause C.3.5, then the next highest placed Athlete or Athletes from Grand Prix 2 in the specific event MAY be selected, at the absolute discretion of the NPD. 3.7 For the avoidance of doubt, the NPD is not obliged to fill all vacant positions for any particular event for the National Senior Selection Regatta. 4. Subject to clause C.5, unless an Athlete (or Crew where applicable) is awarded a wildcard allocation, which permits the Athlete (or Crew) to participate in the relevant event for which they are granted a wildcard, Athletes are selected to compete at the National Senior Selection Regatta in only the event or events (where applicable) they have earned selection from Grand Prix 2 or through International pre-selection, under clauses C.3.3 and C.3.1 respectively. 5. Athletes who earn International pre-selection to the National Senior Selection Regatta through the K4, are each selected to compete at the National Senior Selection Regatta in each of the K1 200, K1 500 and K2 500 events. D. INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS 1. The 2018 International Performance Standards are set out in Schedule A of this Criteria and will be applied at the absolute discretion of the Selection Panel. 2. All discretionary selection decisions made by a Selection Panel under this Criteria must take into account each Athlete/Crew s performance relative to the 2018 International Performance Standards. 3. In taking into account an Athlete or Crew's performance against the 2018 International Performance Standards, the Selection Panel may take into account relevant external factors that may have impacted the Athlete/Crew achieving the necessary International Performance Standards (including but not limited to weather conditions (e.g. wind speed/direction and currents)). E. WORLD CUP SQUAD SELECTION: AUTOMATIC SELECTION: 1. To gain AUTOMATIC selection to the World Cup SQUAD, there will be an INTERNATIONAL PRESELECTION opportunity and a DOMESTIC SELECTION opportunity as follows.

INTERNATIONAL PRESELECTION 1.1 Athletes who achieve the following performance criteria in Olympic Discipline Events at the 2017 ICF Sprint World Championships, will be selected to the World Cup Squad: Top eight (8) in the A-Final Men s K1 200; K and C1 1000; and Women s K1 200, K1 500 and C1 200 Events Top six (6) in the A-Final: Men s K and C and Women s K2 500 and C2 500 Events Top three (3) in the A-Final: Men s K4 500 and Women s K4 500 Events DOMESTIC SELECTION 1.2 Athletes who achieve the following performance criteria in the applicable event at the 2018 National Senior Selection Regatta, will be selected to the World Cup Squad: The top four (4) highest scoring Male and top four (4) highest scoring Female Athletes according to the K4 500 Ranking System outlined in Clause E The first-placed Athlete or Crew in the A-Final of the following events: (i) MK and WK2 500 (ii) MK and WK1 500 (iii) MK1 200 and WK The second-placed Athlete or Crew in the A-Final of the following events: (i) MK or WK For the avoidance of doubt, if an Athlete is selected under more than one of clauses E.1.1. and E.1.2 (inclusive), no additional Athlete or Athletes will be selected under any of those clauses. (To be clear, the automatic selection position does not roll down to the next eligible athlete if an athlete is already selected from an earlier selection criteria). 1.4 Where an athlete is selected to the World Cup Squad through either meeting selection criteria as per E.1.1 or E.1.2, this does NOT necessarily infer the selected athlete will be selected to compete in the same event at World Cup and / or World Championships. 1.5 K4 500 Ranking System: Kayak athletes will earn K4 Ranking Points according to the following table. ALL Athletes wishing to earn Ranking Points MUST compete in the K2 500 event. Each Athlete s K2 500 score, along with their highest score from either the K1 200 or K1 500 will be added to provide a total points score. To be clear, only two (2) scores will count towards each Athlete's score and one of those must be the K Where two or more Athletes have the same total point score the Athlete

who has the highest placed finish in the K2 500 event at the National Senior Selection Regatta shall be ranked highest. If Athletes still cannot be split, then the Athlete with the highest placed K1 200 or K1 500 finishing position will be selected. If Athletes still cannot be split, the Athlete with the highest placed K1 500 finish will be selected. In the case that the Athletes' K1 500 finishing position is used to break the tie, an Athlete who competed in the K1 500 will automatically be ranked higher than an Athlete who did not compete in the K K4 Ranking Table: DISCRETIONARY SELECTION: K1 200 K1 500 K2 500 (A-Final) (A-Final) (A-Final) 1st nd rd th th th th th th Where there is less than the number of Athletes set out in this clause E.2 automatically selected to each discipline under clauses E.1.1 and E.1.2, the Selection Panel may subject to clauses E.2 - E.6 (inclusive) and otherwise at its absolute discretion, select additional Athletes in any discipline up to the following number of Athletes for that discipline: Men s Kayak: 10 Athletes Women s Kayak: 7 Athletes Men s Canoe: 3 Athletes Women s Canoe: 3 Athletes 3. The Selection Panel is NOT obliged to select the number of Athletes outlined in Clause E.2, in each respective discipline. 4. For Canoe Athletes to be considered for DISCRETIONARY selection by the Selection Panel to the World Cup SQUAD, Athletes must achieve the following results at the National Senior Selection Regatta: 4.1 The first (1st) placed Athlete/Crew in the A-Final of the following events: MC WC1 200 MC WC In exercising its discretion under section E of this Criteria, the Selection Panel: 5.1 must take into account the Athlete or Crew's performance against the International Performance Standards; and

5.2 may otherwise and without limitation consider any factor, or combination of factors that is, in the opinion of the Selection Panel, relevant for consideration when determining whether to select that Athlete or Crew. 6. Notwithstanding anything in this Section E, the Selection Panel MAY apply extenuating circumstances in accordance with Section H, and select additional Athletes/Crews at its absolute discretion. 7. Selection to the World Cup Squad does not guarantee an Athlete or Crew will compete in that designated event during any one or more World Cup events. Athlete/Crew nominations for World Cup events will be dependent on prioritisation of boats, World Cup programme scheduling and otherwise at the absolute discretion of the Selection Panel. 8. ANNOUNCEMENT of the World Cup SQUAD will be made as soon as practicable after the conclusion of the 2018 National Championships. Any decision potentially subject to competition appeal or NOT able to be made at the conclusion of the Championships will in any case be advised by announcement. F. ONGOING REQUIREMENTS FOR WORLD CUP SQUAD: 1. All Athletes and Crews selected to the World Cup Squad must, unless extenuating circumstances are granted by the Selection Panel in accordance with section H: 1.1 attend and compete in a minimum of two separate events at the 2018 National Championships; 1.2 attend a Senior Training CAMP approximately 2 weeks following the National Championships (Date and Venue TBC); and 1.3 in conjunction with an AC National or SIS/SAS coach, complete an Individual Performance Plan (IPP). G. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM SELECTION: 1. Only Athletes who gain selection to the World Cup SQUAD, and compete in a minimum of one World Cup Event (unless Extenuating Circumstances are applied as per Clause H of this Policy), are eligible for selection to the World Championships TEAM. 2. Following the 2018 World Cups, the Selection Panel will select the Athletes and Crews to the World Championship Team in accordance with this section G. 3. Selection of Athletes and Crews to the World Championship TEAM will be made at the Selection Panel s absolute discretion. In exercising its discretion, the Selection Panel may consider any factor, or combination of factors that is, in the opinion of the Selection Panel, relevant for consideration when selecting the World Championship Team. Without in any way limiting the discretion of the Selection Panel, the Selection Panel may consider any one, combination, all or none of the following factors (in no specific order of importance or weighting):

a) Performances in major BME events over the most recent 24 months; b) Performances in the World Cup races of 2018; c) Performances in the most recent domestic season (K1, K2, C1, C2 events only), including GP2, National Championships and National Senior Selection Regatta; d) Recent performances relative to the International Performance Standards; e) Current Athlete injury/illness or condition which may impair an Athlete s performance; f) Individual physical strengths, which may contribute to the performance of the World Championship TEAM in the identified priority boats; and g) Relevant factors applicable to Crew combinations, including but not limited to, technical compatibility, team harmony and commitment. 4. ANNOUNCEMENT of 2018 World Championship TEAM will be made approximately one week after the final World Cup Event. H. EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES 1. In considering: a) the allocation of wildcard entries under section C; b) discretionary selection of Athletes or Crews to the World Cup Squad under section E; c) Athlete and Crew compliance with the requirements in section F; and d) selection of Athletes and Crews to the World Championship Team under section G, the Selection Panel may consider extenuating circumstances in accordance with this section H, including clause H Only Athletes categorised as 'Podium', 'Podium Ready' or 'Podium Potential', according to the confirmed Australia's Winning Edge categorisation list (approved by the Australian Institute of Sport), as at 31 December 2017, will be eligible to apply for extenuating circumstances under this Criteria. 3. Any eligible Athlete applying for extenuating circumstances is required to advise the National Performance Director (NPD) of this fact, along with supporting evidence, prior to the commencement of each event, trial or camp for which extenuating circumstances are being applied for. 4. For the purposes of this section H, "extenuating circumstances" means an inability of an Athlete or Crew to compete and/or attend events, trials, training camps or other attendances arising from one or more of: a) injury or illness; b) equipment failure (where applicable); c) bereavement or disability arising from death or serious illness of an immediate family member; and d) any other significant factors reasonably considered by AC to constitute extenuating circumstances.

5. In exercising its discretion in applying extenuating circumstances, the Selection Panel will consider the following factors: a) Severity and duration of the cause; b) The potential impact that participating will have on the short term and long term Athlete wellbeing and performance; c) Documented evidence (including medical records, AMS entries etc.); d) Athlete s responsiveness to overcome the cause with urgency; e) Performance standards achieved in recent competitions; and f) Standard of proof in substantiating the cause. I. CONTINUING FITNESS, FORM AND MEDICAL EXPECTATIONS: 1. Once named in the SQUAD and/or TEAM each team member has an obligation to maintain the level of fitness that will enable them to compete in nominated competition to the standard at which they were selected. 2. All SQUAD/TEAM members must immediately inform the NPD of any illness or injury that could reasonably impact on the Athlete's ability to perform at the level expected of the Athlete. 3. At any time following the announcement of the SQUAD/TEAM any Athlete may be required to attend a medical examination and/or fitness trial at the discretion of the NPD. 4. If at any time prior to competition an Athlete is assessed as injured, ill or unfit under the terms of this section I, that Athlete may be withdrawn from the SQUAD/TEAM at the absolute discretion of the NPD. 5. For the purposes of this section I, an Athlete will only be assessed as "injured or ill" if in the reasonable opinion of the AC Chief Medical Officer or his/her nominee, the Athlete is injured or ill to such an extent that one or both of the following situations exist: a. the Athlete will not be capable of performing in the nominated competition to a level at which the Athlete would be expected to perform if not affected by the illness or injury in question; or b. by competing with the illness or injury, the Athlete may suffer significant short or long term medical complications. 6. There is no right of appeal against any decision made by AC, the NPD or the AC Chief Medical Officer pursuant to this section I. J. REPLACEMENT ATHLETES 1. Where an Athlete has been selected to the World Cup SQUAD or World Championship TEAM and withdraws, or is unable to compete at a competition, the Selection Panel, in its absolute discretion, may select a replacement Athlete. To be clear, the Selection Panel is not obliged to replace an Athlete.

2. If an Athlete/Crew is selected to an event and subsequently fails to maintain a suitable international performance standard for that event, or adversely affects the performance of a Crew, as determined by the Selection Panel, in its absolute discretion, the Selection Panel may remove that Athlete/Crew from the SQUAD or TEAM and may select a replacement Athlete. K. APPEALS PROCESS As outlined in the AC Selection Procedures By-Law
