1 Penfield Girls Lacrosse Booster Club Meeting Minutes January Meeting Date: 1/12/17 Meeting Location and time: PHS C-9, 7:00-8:00PM Attendance: Art Petrone,, Marlene Motkowski, Jeff Gobel, Julie Gobel, Christine Guiton, Kate Blumenstock, Marcy Bell, Wayne Smith, Robyn Cox, Marlene Nesselbush, Tom Willette, Danielle Akins, Gretchen Baumer, Christine Stewart, Audrey Shortino Activity: Financial Summary: o Updates - Balance $17, Only bill paid since the last meeting was the remaining few receipts from the Lacrosse Social for $ Sausage Sale raised $665 which has been deposited. We raised $544 in 2016 and $373 in Current Meeting Items to be Discussed: Varsity Spirit-Wear Global Booster update Website Updates Spring Spirit-Wear/Varsity Backpack Update Lacrosse Yearbook updates Cinco Updates Coordinator(s) Gretchen Baumer
2 2 Varsity Spirit-Wear: - Girls are asking for $95 per girl this year. - Items included: sweatshirt no hood with name and number ($50); red t-shirt with butt tag ($22) and white shorts with number ($23) prices include the cost for screen, colors, etc. - The girls have also designed an optional shirt for $22 - The girls designed hats for the coaches to honor Varsity parent Mike Sproule. It will be a gray hat with Mike s initials and ribbon. Each hat is $30 they are looking for 4 coaches hats. - Boosters voted Yes to purchase the coaches hats - Boosters voted Yes to purchase the three items- the optional shirt will be available to the players for an additional cost on their own. Megan Motkowski Emily Gobel Global Booster Update: - Global Boosters is looking for a new president Nancy Willer is stepping down when this school year ends. - The district has approved the lacrosse penalty clock to arrive January 19th - Facilities grant requests will be due March 1st - Annual Global Booster Club Golf Tournament will be Monday July 24th at Eagle Vale. Website Update: - In a couple of weeks the website is expiring. The cost to keep/renew the existing site is $ (yearly). - Mike Seppala is currently listed as the contact name Marcy is looking into updating it with her information. - Over the next couple of weeks the website will transition to the season. Marlene Nesselbush Danielle Akins for Marcy Wing Spring Spirit-Wear/Varsity Backpack Update: - Backpacks are done. They will be here and to Coach Smith next week. - Looking to open Spring Spirit-Wear the first week of March (by 3/6) and close March 26th. Julie Gobel
3 Sausage Sale: - Total Profit $665 (collected $800; less $135 to Zweigle s for 18 cases of sausage). - Sale ran from 8:30am to 2:30pm. - Thank you to our cooks, parent helpers, players, the Eastside YMCA, and Coach Smith - Big Thank you to Steve Vacanti and Zweigle s sausage for the large donation of product. - Penfield Banner is in bad shape. It was suggested we should call EZ UP we may need to replace the poll. Possibly need the whole post. The stand is in good shape. Maureen Burdick 3 Lacrosse Yearbook Update: - Parent representative received feedback that we have possibly reach the our limit with fundraising this year. - Suggestion was made to have the girls/parents reach out to business to take the pressure of the parents. - Talked about possibly looking into different options for next year and how we would like to move forward in the future. - Lacrosse Yearbook normally raises around $12,000. Cinco Update: - Last year we had 102 teams (85 different teams plus the 17 Penfield teams). Total amount grossed on team entires $12,750 (85 teams x $150 entry fee). - This year s check presentation will be to Jessica Fox - T-shirts sponsorship raised $7,000 the committee is sure we can raise that again this year. - Tent rental will cost $1,700 - Possible additional cost would be to have someone line the fields. - Last year the Tom Wahl s didn t donate money to be there. Looking to see if Bill Gray s could pay a flat fee to be there. - Tournament could raise $6,000-$7,000 for each team. - We need parent volunteers from both the boys and girls. - The Gobel family have a contact for a popcorn/kettlecorn for another possible food vendor. 4 Upcoming Special Events Dates to Mark on Your Calendar: Don s Bruncho Date- Sunday January 29th o 8:00am-10:30am we have to be out by 11:00am o Need tickets back no later than 1/25 o Steve Vacanti need numbers by 1/22 o Will need some parent volunteers 4 Face-Off Dinnero Date- Thursday March 23rd o We want to make sure we have sign up boards again. Jeff Gobel Stella Maris: o Dates-Monday 4/17- Wednesday 4/19 o Committee is looking to changing it to an overnight. Stay 4/18 and leave at 3:30pm o 4/19. Girls can go to the scrimmage the leave with parents. For the scrimmage trying to see if we can get 2 or 3 teams.
