1 FALL REGISTRATION INFORMATION 2018/2019 Welcome back to our returning students and a warm welcome to all of the new families joining us this season. Elite Danceworx is proud to offer the very best instruction for boys & girls ages 2 & up, in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Mini Dance, Contemporary and Acro. All of our classes are taught by industry professionals in a friendly environment. Please find below important registration information for this season. CLASSES BEGIN MONDAY SEPTEMBER 10 th, 2018 DANCE CLASS FEES Classes start the week of September 10 th and run until the first week in June. All classes are full school-year programs unless specified otherwise (ie: Tiny Stars) PAYMENT Post-dated cheques or a signed credit card authorization (visa or mastercard) for the entire dance season must be submitted with your registration in order for your registration to be considered complete. A fee schedule is attached. COSTUMES/YEAR END SHOW All General Program students will be required to purchase a costume for our annual Year End Show (with the exception of Tiny Stars) which will be held at the Markham Theatre. Year-End show costumes for all hip hop classes cost $ including all taxes. All other recreational costumes cost $ including all taxes. In order to simplify the costume pickup process for the spring we add the cost of each costume to your 2 nd and 3 rd installments. (Add $60.00 to the 2 nd and 3 rd term payments for all hip hop classes, and add $75.00 to the 2 nd and 3 rd term payments for all other classes). When costumes are ready in the spring they will be sent home with the dancer in class as they will have already been paid for. All dancers will participate in the Year-End show and tickets for the show will be available through the Markham Theatre. Tickets will cost $ taxes plus a theatre handling charge. The Year-End Show will take place June 6-8, 2019 with dress rehearsal and photo days between June 4-6, JUMPSTART PROGRAM Jumpstart is a streamlined program that is designed as a bridge to our competitive program. Being a part of this program does NOT mean you will be obligated to or guaranteed a position in the competitive program, however, you will participate in all of your classes with the same dancers in a multi-discipline program to prepare you for that option down the road. The Jumpstart program is geared to ages 4-7 and dancers will take 2 jazz classes, 1 tap class, 1 ballet class, 1 acro class (dancers will participate in one routine per discipline, for a total of 4 routines/costumes). Hip hop can be added as an additional class, and is recommended. The jumpstart program will take place on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. (dancers need to attend both days). Dancers may opt to take additional classes from the recreational schedule at a cost of $150/yr + HST + the cost of any additional costumes if applicable. (i.e. hip hop or anything else you are interested in)

2 DRESS CODE TINY STARS/ Black or Pink bodysuit (any style), Mondor pink ballet tights (Style #310, 314 or 319) MINI DANCE Dancers may wear a ballet skirt if they wish. JAZZ & TAP Black bodysuit, or fitted black tank or crop top and shorts (any style) ACRO Black Bodysuit or fitted black tank or crop top, fitted black dance shorts (bare legs) BALLET Black bodysuit, Pink Mondor Ballet Tights (Style #310, 314 or 319) HIP HOP Comfortable clothing, (no jeans!) tank tops, baggy pants, workout wear etc. CLEAN RUNNING SHOES DANCERS WEARING OUTDOOR SHOES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED INTO CLASS. BOYS (All Disciplines) Black pants or shorts and a white t-shirt or tank. HAIR ALL CLASSES Must be secured in a ponytail or bun for all classes. *Ballet students must wear a proper bun. Dancers with short hair may wear a black headband SHOES TINY STARS/ MINI DANCE BALLET JAZZ TAP ACRO HIP HOP Girls Pink Ballet Slippers / Boys- Black Ballet Slippers (Leather or Canvas - full or split sole ok) (NO GYMNASTICS SLIPPERS) Girls - Pink Canvas Split Sole Ballet Slippers Boys - Black Canvas Ballet Slippers Girls: Beige Jazz Boots Bloch NeoFlex (495) or Bloch 499 (495 s preferred) Boys: Black Jazz Boots Girls: Ages 4-11: Beige low heel tap shoe (can purchase Beige Capezio Mary-Janes - please do not purchase the patent leather shoes as they have no rubber on the sole and are dangerous). 3 COMPETITIVE DANCE TEAM Students who show the talent and commitment required, may be asked by their instructor or director to audition for the competitive team. If you would like more information on what is involved with our competitive program, please inquire at the front desk and a meeting can be arranged with the director. PART-TIME COMPETITIVE DANCE TEAM We are expanding our part-time competitive program. If you are interested, please us. Part-time competitive dancers train 2 days per week and participate in 3 competitions per season. We will have a Part-Time audition this summer. More info to come. ADMINISTRATION The front desk will be open Monday Friday from 4-8 pm (most days from 12:00 noon) and Saturdays from 8:30 am 2:00 pm. You can also leave a message anytime on the studio voic and your call will be returned during office hours. Additionally you may contact the studio via admin@elitedanceworx.com or. BAD WEATHER In case of a winter storm, please call the studio after 2:00 pm on weekdays and after 8:00am on weekends and listen to a recorded message as to whether or not classes will be running. We also try to post any potential studio closings on Instagram or Facebook by 2:00 p.m. as well. Follow us on Instagram: elitedanceworx and Facebook: Elite Danceworx. HOLIDAYS We follow the York Region District School Board calendar of holidays. We will be closed Thanksgiving Monday, Christmas Break, Family Day, March Break, Good Friday, and Victoria Day Weekend. Holidays will be posted on the website and on bulletin boards around the studio. DROP OFF POLICY We kindly ask that dancers are dropped off a few minutes early and picked up promptly at the end of their classes. We do have a front lobby area that parents may wait in, if they wish, however, we do ask that you do not wait in the student lounge/homework area for your child to finish class. It is intended as an area for dancers to wait in between classes and because of its proximity to the classrooms we need to keep the area as uncongested and quiet as possible. We thank you for your co-operation in this regard. In the interest of safety, when dropping off in the parking lot, please pull into a parking space rather than stopping in the middle.

4 OUTDOOR SHOES Our studios are equipped with professional (expensive) ROSCO stage flooring, absolutely no outdoor shoes are permitted past the front lobby (dancers and parents). Dirt, rocks, etc. get tracked into the studios from the student lounge and ground into our floors. Please remove your shoes at the door and use the racks provided to store them until you are leaving. FOOD AND DRINK Elite Danceworx is a peanut safe environment. Please do not pack snacks with peanuts, nuts, etc. Food and drink are permitted in the student lounge only. There is a tiled area with tables and chairs specifically for lunch/snacks in our new space. We promote a healthy lifestyle in our studio, please do not bring pop or fast food items in the studio. Food and drink are not permitted in the changerooms or dance studios at any time. VIDEO MONITORS Our studio is equipped with video cameras that are connected to a TV in the lobby. The TV will play classes in progress on a rotating basis determined by our office staff. The monitors will not be turned on until the third week of classes to allow students to get settled into routine. A schedule will be posted to let you know when your child s class will be playing on the monitor. Once dancers begin routines for the Year-End show the monitors will be on less regularly. CLASS PLACEMENT Teachers will be paying close attention during the first few weeks of classes to ensure that students have been placed in the class where they will benefit the most. If we feel that a change is necessary, we will get in touch with you and make the appropriate adjustments. As a student of Elite Danceworx, I understand that photographs and/or videos of myself and/or my likeness may be used for promotional purposes. My signature hereunder (or that of a parent or guardian for dancers under age 18), gives permission to Elite Danceworx to do so at their sole discretion. WAIVER I understand that participating in a dance or exercise class is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not participate in such activity unless I am medically able. I assume all risks associated with participating in such activity including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, slipping etc., all such risks being known and appreciated by me.
