We would like to welcome a new Assistant Principal, Miss Michelle Calidonio. She is replacing Mr. Eric Nielsen, who left ZHS to move to MN. Miss Calidonio will be the administrator for the class of It is hard to believe that semester one is almost over. Please make sure that your student is in attendance for their semester exams. The exam schedule is included in the newsletter and is on the school calendar located on the ZHS website. When we return for second semester we will be making a change to our grading practices. We will be instituting late work procedures. If a student is in class on the day an assignment is made, they are expected to complete the work by the due date. If the student fails to complete the assignment and turns it in, the student may turn in the work late for a grade of at least 50%. When students are absent from class, they will follow the District make-up guidelines and they will be provided with the opportunity to make up missing assignments for full credit if the work is turned in prior to the corresponding summative assessment. Work turned in after the summative assessment, will receive a grade of 50%. I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday break. See you in January! The Varsity Competitive Cheer Team will be traveling to Disney's Wide World of Sports to compete in the Florida High School National Cheer Competition February 9-11, This accomplishment would not of happened without the generous sponsorship of Wade Thomas and Thomas and Son's Automotive. The Varsity Cheer Team is very excited for this adventure as it is the first time that the ZHS Cheer Program has ever accomplished this feat. The team was dedicated to their goal of receiving this bid by placing 7th in the UCA Central Florida Regional Competition on December 2, 2017 at the Tampa Convention Center. Coach Di is so proud of you ladies and Logan! We're going to Disney!!!

4 Page 4 Honoring Our Veterans At Zephyrhills High School, all of the faculty, staff, and administration are greatly appreciative of our veterans. On Veteran s Day the students put on a special ceremony to honor the staff members who have previously served in the military. To start off the celebration, the JROTC presented the colors followed by the national anthem, sung by Ms. Gore, and the Pledge of Allegiance. The chorus and the American Sign Language students joined the JROTC in honoring the faculty members by performing the songs of the military branches of the men and women who had served in the Air Force (Sgt. Michael Smith, Mr. Troy Hochstetler, First Sgt. Jimmy McAuley, Mr. Steve Wilkinson, and Ms. Nancy Vickers); Navy (Cpl. Kevin Widener and Mr. Matt McDermott); and Army (Mr. Michael Cole, Mr. Robert Pellek, and Mr. Steven Plourde). Many students and faculty members arrived thirty minutes early for school to show their appreciation to all the men and women who have fought for our freedom.

7 Page 7 Girls Golf The ZHS Girls Golf team won the District Championship and was Regional Runner Up which qualified them for states. They finished 16th in the state. Congratulations! Varsity Football Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Football team for earning the title of District Champions. Their record of 10-2 is the second time in the history of the Zephyrhills Bulldogs that they accomplished this scoring record. Nursing "The ZHS Nursing Assistant students will be starting their clinical rotation at Heartland of Zephyrhills Nursing Center on Wed., December 13. The students have been working hard all year to learn hands-on clinical skills and nursing assisting theory in preparation. Once the students successfully complete the clinical rotation in January, they will be eligible to sit for the State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant exam.
