1 HHS Cheer Booster Club Special Meeting Minutes for In attendance: Jessica Fedroff, Christy Kanaby, Mary Riccardi, Annie Gatzemeyer, Pam McGuire, Nicole Goldstein, Kym LoPresti, Camie Johnsen, Shelley Brownlie, Rhonda Harris, and Kathy Zona MINUTES Minutes were approved from the HHS Cheer Booster Club meetings of May 19, 2011 and of August 22, 2011 with one correction, second pages from each minutes were switched. Shelley motioned and Camie seconded. Nicole Goldstein abstained. PRESIDENT S REPORT President s report began with announcing the success of the Meet and Greet in August and reporting that 52 cheerleaders families have joined the HHS Cheer Booster Club this year. We collected a large box full of school supplies that was dropped off at Staples and will be distributed to local families. The committees have been set up and people have been assigned to them. Many committees are well under way and are positively moving forward. There will be reports from each committee at the Booster club meetings this year. Christy mentioned that one of our goals this year is to have a better working relationship with the Touchdown club and the Band booster club. The Booster plans to work in conjunction with them to bring the magic back to the Friday night football games and make great football memories. She apologized for all the s that at times may feel overwhelming. She wants the membership to be informed about fundraisers and upcoming events. The fundraisers help support our legacy of scholarships. It was noted that last year the Booster Club was able to give out four $400 scholarships to the seniors who applied. Christy passed around a Thank you note from one of last year s recipient. Christy was excited to say that so far we have sold more Raider Cards than last year. We sold 390 last year and this year we are at 550 and still going. The Booster Club receives $5.00 for every card sold. TREASURER S REPORT Mary recapped the financial report handout. She reminded folks that the statement provided is what s known as a cash in, cash out statement. Camie motioned to approve financial report; Rhonda seconded. Treasurer s report was unanimously approved. COACHES REPORT Coach Fedroff said that we had our first JV game and two Varsity games so far this season and that everything seems to be going well. She reported that the girls will not be stunting if it rains or if they have their warm-ups on since it is a safety issue.

2 COMMITTEE REPORTS Homecoming Shelley reported the Homecoming t-shirts look amazing. s will be going out to the Jr. Raiders, Dukes, Touchdown Club, and the Band Booster Club to increase sales. There will also be a box at the Jr. Raider field for orders. She is waiting to hear back from the Dukes about their orders. Shelley s goal is to sell more shirts this year; last year we sold 290. She expressed a desire for the Booster Club to consider a motion during new business to order t-shirts in advance of the pre-sale for the cheerleaders to wear and to sell as extra stock during school lunches just before the Homecoming game. Mrs. Chaney, the head of guidance, needs to approve the sell of shirts during lunch periods. Christy is waiting to hear back from her. Christy is networking with teachers for their homecoming t-shirt order. It was determined that the shirts will be sold for $15.00, with each shirt costing $5.15 to make and the remaining proceeds being divided between the Progin Foundation and Booster Club. PR Christy reported in the absence of Lisa Polesky. Canned food drive is being announced in the high school on the TV screens and on the Municipal website. Lisa has been busy networking on the Patch, Hillsborough Beacon, and Courier News. Lisa is looking into doing banners to hang out at games and competitions. APPAREL- Camie and Kym have done research to sell yoga pants. They are planning on selling two different styles. The fold on the back will have the word RAIDERS or the word CHEER on it. Camie is getting a table for the girls to sell them at the Jr. Raider Cheer Rally competition and Exhibition on Oct. 23, It was recommended that the Cheer yoga pants sold will benefit the Competition team and Raider yoga pants sold will benefit the general cheer fund. The committee reported that the minimum order of pants needs to be 78 pairs in order to get the discount pricing of $13/$14 per pair. Camie recommended ordering 78 Raider Yoga pants and 53 Cheer to start with a price point of $20.00 each. Kym was concerned about timing; she recommended selling the yoga pants at the Homecoming game and at the JV games. Christy will verify permission to do this with Mrs. Chaney. Going forward, the committee is looking into practice uniforms and other apparel. CANNED FOOD DRIVE- Nicole said that Lisa Mullarkey s husband made all the canned food drive signs for the game. Three JV cheerleaders were on hand to collect food on September 16 th and pictures were taken. Nicole reported that they filled about 16 bags that went to the food bank. Kathy Faerber at the food bank was very appreciative. Both the Touchdown Club and Band Booster were notified that we will be collecting at all home games. Christy is seeing if the National Honor Society can fill in at the Homecoming game on October 14 th because all our cheerleaders will be cheering. TEAM BONDING Ideas are being explored to network with local businesses. No one wants to overextend the girls. A suggestion was made that any activity offered be open-ended without setting a particular day/time. Coaches have requested the committee look into having the girls go on a hayride. Sunday, September 25, 2011, will be the first Varsity team bonding dinner at Matsuba.

3 WEBSITE Camie reported that at the coaches requested a website. After much research, Camie found one that had the initial cost as $ with a $ discount that Camie was able to negotiate. This site would be secure, easy to maneuver, and very versatile. Parents will be able to change addresses and blasts of information can go out in a timely manner. TOUCHDOWN CLUB Annie reported that at the September Touchdown Club meeting, it was announced that Coach Carty has obtained a job in Hillsborough. He will be starting no later than the end of October; he needs to first fulfill his obligation in Bound Brook. Touchdown also reported that this year, eight girls have placed an ad in the Touchdown Club media guide. Touchdown verified that the Homecoming game is scheduled for October 14, 2011; that night will also be senior night. OLD BUSINESS Rotary Fair- The Rotary Fair reported that profits were 1/3 less than in previous years due to the inclement weather in August. The Booster Club was informed that it would receive the highest donation of a flat $ because the cheerleaders were the largest volunteer group that participated at the fair. The Rotary Club said the girls did an outstanding job. Duffle Bags The girls loved the bags. All the girls received a bag, and the expenditures were approved as a onetime expenditure. Extra bags are in hand for any new cheerleaders who may join the winter squad. Busses to JV games- At the August meeting, the Booster Club approved expenditures for busses for two away games. In the interim, the Athletic Director determined he would only permit the girls to attend one away game, and he agreed to pay for it. NEW BUSINESS Homecoming Shelley recommended ordering 53 shirts in advance for the cheerleaders. Camie motioned and Pam seconded; all approved. An amendment was made to approve 100 shirts to be ordered at a cost of $ in order to have 47 shirts in extra stock available to sell just before Homecoming. This was motioned by Nicole and seconded by Kathy; the motion was unanimously approved. The club determined it will be donating shirts to Coach Progin, his wife and two kids. Yoga Pants Committee recommendation to pre-order 78 CHEER yoga pants and 78 RAIDER yoga pants with the assurance that the current cheerleaders sizes would be in stock for any girls wishing to order them. Booster Club was asked to front the cost of the 78 CHEER yoga pants for Competition to sell and 78 RAIDERS pants for the general population to sell through a presale starting the middle of October. Motioned was made by Camie, seconded by Nicole; it was unanimously approved.

4 Homecoming meal/gift/senior night Motion was made by Nicole to approve expenditures not to exceed $ : It was estimated that we would need $ for the meal, $ for the annual gift, and money needed for seniors corsages. Motion was seconded by Rhonda. An amendment was made to include decorations in that total amount, with a motion to amend by Nicole, seconded by Pam; it was unanimously approved. Kathy Zona agreed to look into getting the annual gift underway. Pink Day- Claudette from the Touchdown Club was getting corsages. Nothing needed to be approved. End of Year Banquet Initial discussions about expenses was had. The group determined that expenses would include the cost of materials for a DVD that Steve DeCasperis puts together and the cost of the seniors meals. The expense motions were tabled until the October meeting. Fundraising Thanksgiving Flower centerpieces will be our next fundraiser. Sales will not start until Yoga pants and all shirt sales are final. Pam McGuire agreed to look into the costs of this fundraiser and will report back. FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER Camie wants to move forward with the domain name of HILLSBOROUGH CHEERLEADING for the website. To own this domain name will cost $40.00 with a yearly fee of $ to maintain the website. Initial cost will be $ for the entire set up. Camie motioned, Kym seconded and it was unanimously approved. Meeting Adjourned at 9:22pm. Next meeting scheduled for October 13, 2011.

5 be the Booster Club to consider providing funds for the JV squad to attend two away games. After some research, it would cost about approximately $250 for a bus to each game. The motion to fund expenditures related to the bus trips was unanimously approved to fund this cost, but not to exceed $500. The coaches also requested Cheer duffle bags to be purchased as a welcome gift for the new cheerleaders as well as to continue to make this the welcome gift for all new cheerleaders moving forward. A motion to fund the bag request was approved. Christy then updated the group to let them know that the coaches made an additional request over the summer for a video camera to use at tryouts and throughout the season. In August, a Flip camera, carrying case, back-up charger and a table top tripod was purchased to be used by the HHS Cheerleading program. The camera will also be used at Junior Varsity and Varsity games. Since the cost for these items fell under $150 limit, it did not need to go to a vote. The meeting was adjourned at 7:04 p.m. The next Booster Club meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 22 nd.
