2 SGA CAUSE FOR PAWS The SGA is challenging all students and faculty to donate items to help the Davie County Humane Society. A list of requested items has been given to each of your teachers. The 3 rd period class that collects the most items will win a pre-spring break ice cream social! This project will run from 2/23-3/27 ITEMS REQUESTED: Paper towels Toilet paper High efficiency laundry detergent Old towels, washcloths, and blankets Garbage bags Antibacterial hand soap 3-5 gallon plastic buckets Scotch Brite sponges Rubber Gloves Scoopable cat litter Scoops for litter boxes Small litter boxes Small METAL food/water bowls Cat/dog toys Leashes and collars (all sizes) Puppy training pads Hard food for kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs (Purina brand if possible)

5 SELF-DEFENSE SEMINAR SPONSORED BY DCHS PTSO Thursday, March 26 3:30-5:15 pm DHS Multipurpose Room FOR ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND STAFF MEMBERS. Students preparing to go to college or directly to the workplace are strongly encouraged to attend this real-life selfdefense program TAUGHT BY TINA MORGAN, CAPITAL MARTIAL ARTS. Cost: Sign up by March 20, $15.00 per person Sign up after March 20 or on day of event, it s $20 per person. Please see Ms. Bustle in room E-8 to register & pay. 9 For Men: a tuxedo is great! If this is beyond your budget, a dress shirt and tie, dress pants and closed-toe shoes are acceptable. For Ladies: No dresses with bare midriffs are permitted. Meaning, no two piece dresses or any other types that show off the stomach. The dress length must at least meet your fingertips when standing. If your dress is strapless, make sure it is tailored to fit. Nothing should be spilling out of the dress anytime during PROM. For Everyone: Please bring comfortable dance shoes. The venue is multi-level and in order to leave the dance room to go into another area of the venue, you must be wearing shoes. So wear something that is comfortable.

10 Davie High Dancing Boot Tryouts April 13th 16th (Dance Room) from 4:00 until 6:00 April 13th Parent meeting 6:00 in Band Room Please come dressed in appropriate dance clothes and shoes. You will learn a dance routine plus kicks, leaps and turns that we use on the field and during basketball routines. Every day you will learn something new!! April 16th is tryout day!! 11 Shadowing Experience for DHS Juniors The Rotary Clubs of Mocksville and Hillsdale will conduct a Shadows' Day Program on Tuesday April 21, 2015 for approximately 25 selected Juniors from Davie High School and Davie County Early College. 16 Self-Defense Class Reminder: Only a few days remain to sign up for the PTSO sponsored Self-Defense Class on Thurs., March 26, from 3:30 5:15 pm in the DHS Multipurpose Rm. If you sign up by 5:00 pm on Mon., March 23, your price is still $ If you sign up after 3/23, the price raises to $20. Drop by Room E-8 & see Ms. Bustle to sign up and pay (checks may be made payable to DCHS PTSO ) We almost have the 15 participants needed to complete the class. Students, faculty & staff members, and parents are ALL invited to participate. Instruction is led by a certified self-defense trainer & the cost of the class would normally be $75.00.

18 PTSO Scholarships Available: If a parent or family member pledged their support to the Davie High School PTSO this year, you are eligible for one of TWO, $500 PTSO college scholarships. Go to the Students Services page and click on the PTSO Scholarship link to print the application & read the directions. Applications are due to the Student Services office or Ms. Bustle in Room E-8 by April 17, 2015.

20 Team registration forms are outside of Ms. OB s room, C-4. Space will be reserved for the first ten teams in each bracket to turn in a completed registration form and pay the $15 fee. There will be a men s, women s, and co-ed bracket.

26 The 4th Annual Extra Mile 5K Will be held on April 18th starting at 9 am at Mocksville Elementary. This race is in honor of former Track and Cross Country Coach Daric Beiter and raises funds for scholarships given to Cross Country and Track Athletes at Davie High. Sign up online through Active.com or go by Coach Koontz's room (B-7) to pick up a registration form. Sign up before April 2nd to guarantee your t-shirt and to avoid the $5.00 price increase.
