Smith, Vice President Keri Sheldon Sec./Treasurer Leonard Futrel, Sergeant at Arms Dan Kramer, Publicity Officer LOOM NOMINATION OF OFFICERS On February 21 we started accepting nominations for Moose calendar year May 2017-April 2018 (and also on March 7 and 21) for the following positions: Governor, Junior Governor, Prelate, Treasurer, and 3-yr. Trustee. If you re interested in running for any of these elected positions, please contact any current officer. The Election of LOOM Officers will be April 4 from 11 a.m. 7 p.m. All LOOM members in good standing are eligible to vote. WOTM NOMINATION OF OFFICERS During the month of February nominations were accepted for Moose calendar year May April 2018 for the following Women of The Moose elected positions: Senior Regent, Junior Regent, Recorder, and Secretary/Treasurer. WOTM Election of Officers is Monday, March 20 from 6 to 7 p.m. only. The 17th Annual Chili Cook-Off was a huge success due to the record number of 21 entries! Judges this year were local chefs Marty Kokotaylo, Saundra Irvine, and Jim Park. A special thanks to Brad Ledingham for helping out and to all participants for submitting their excellent traditional and non-traditional pots of chili: Marvin Cowden, Ron Crowell, Jim Dolinar, Jim Dukeshire, Steve Kiker, Tammy Kiker, Sandy Lafferty, Tina Maley, Mike McAtee, Kathy Miel, Dean Moeller, Diana Moeller, John Ott, Bob Ruckman, and Suzie Stough. 2 From the Governor I must say this has been a very mild winter and I hope you all have enjoyed it. By press time the remodeling of the back hall should be complete. Thanks to all of the volunteers for their hours of work. Renovations of the Club Room is scheduled to start immediately following the Super Tuesday drawing on March 21st. We need many people to help move all the tables and chairs! A volunteer sign-up sheet is posted in the front foyer. If you can spare a few hours to help, it would be greatly appreciated. Election of your LOOM Officers is on Tuesday, April 4. Please contact one of our current Officers if you are interested in running for office and getting involved. We re still looking for donations from our members to help offset the costs of remodeling and for improving the parking lot. Please consider helping out your lodge by donating just $50. You may indicate which improvement project you would like it to go toward. One last thing, PROFANITY will not be tolerated on the lodge premises; this includes the deck and smoke hut. You may be asked to leave the property and possibly subject to disciplinary action. We are a Family Center and children are often present. Fraternally, BoB army armstrong From THE SENIOR REGENT Congratulations to Kim Hetherington, Janice Leeds, Kathy Lyke, and Dede Ruckman for receiving their Academy of Friendship Degree at the Ohio Mid-Year Convention in early February! Election of Officers will be held March 20 from 6 to 7 p.m. only. A list of officer nominations is posted on the WOTM bulletin board, as well as other places in the lodge. A special thanks to Kelly Grodi and crew for making the awesome and delicious Polish Dinner! I would like to give a big welcome to the newest members of the Sylvania Chapter 1788 and thank all of their sponsors for supporting our Chapter! I hope this spring treats us as well as winter has! If so, please plan on attending Orientation. You, your spouse/significant other, and sponsor are invited to attend. A light meal will follow this information meeting. For those of you not familiar with this degree, it can be earned by sponsoring five new members in one Moose calendar year, or by sponsoring two new members in the same year that you ve served as an officer or chairperson. A special ceremony honoring the Class of 2017 will be held Monday, April 3 at 7 p.m. All women that have already received their degree and all Moose members are encouraged and welcome and attend! 6 SPUYTEN DUYVAL GOLF LEAGUE The Men s Thursday Spuyten Duyval Golf League annual meeting is Saturday, March 18 at 1 p.m. at the Moose Lodge. The 2017 rules and policy will distributed. The $40 league fees, $320 green fees, and $320 green fees will be due and collected at this meeting. Please contact your partner and make sure you both attend! A sign-up sheet for additional members and subs will be posted within the lodge. League play starts April 20 at 4:30 p.m. Contact League Secretary Tom Jameson at should you have any questions. WEDNESDAY WHITEFORD VALLEY GOLF LEAGUE The Wednesday Whiteford Valley Golf League meeting is Sunday, April 9 at 2 p.m. in the Moose Lodge clubroom. Elections, new rules, and yearend will be discussed. Golf and cart fees of $400 will be collected at this time. Please make checks payable to Wednesday Moose Golf League. THURSDAY WHITEFORD VALLEY GOLF LEAGUE The Thursday Whiteford Valley Golf League meeting is Sunday, April 2 at 1 p.m. in the Moose Lodge clubroom. Green fees, cart, and skins money of $465 will be collected. A sign-up sheet for singles and/or subs will be posted in the front foyer of the lodge. TEXAS HOLD EM TOURNAMENTS Saturday, March 18, April 29, May 2 $50 Early-bird purchase $55 entry at the door All moose members are welcome to play. The top two qualifiers from each of the 10 nights will play in the Sylvania finals on Sept. 9, The top finisher will then be awarded two round trip airfares, hotel room, and one entry into the Moose International Hold Em Tournament. Open to Moose Members of District 4 (Bryan, Defiance, Montpelier, Napoleon, and Sylvania Lodges) Entry forms on Sports Board in the lodge. Fee is ONLY $10! Deadline to submit is April 1. Limited to first 120 paid bowlers. Tournament is a non-sanctioned, singles format; handicap will be 90% of average to 200. If no average is available a blind average of 150 for men and 120 for women will be used. Please drop off your entry form and $10 at Sylvania Moose Lodge.. Join us for a low cost, FUN tournament! Questions? Contact Jack at ATTENTION: HORSESHOE PLAYERS It s time to begin a new season of horseshoes! Anyone interested in becoming a league member needs to attend the meeting on Wednesday, April 19 at 6 p.m. in the back hall. We will also schedule days to clean the pits and need as many people as possible. Ted Warrington appointed Dave Sullivan as our new league president, and Dave is also the new Ohio State Board Horseshoe Chairman. Marsha will continue to work with subs, schedules, and finances. The first half begins Wed., May 3 at 6 p.m. League dues for the first eight weeks is $45 (second half will be paid at a later date). Continuing league members have first opportunity to participate, but YOU MUST CON- TACT MARSHA prior to April 19 at If you re new to the league let Marsha know or attend the meeting. Last year we had a full league of 48 players, so we don t know how many spots will be open. However, the best way to move up on the waiting list is by subbing. We usually need 4 6 subs each week so you re likely to play a lot!
