Regardless of age or ability, the Irondale Marching Knights Program enables students to participate in a variety of performance ensembles while making lifetime memories. 4 ABOUT THE MARCHING BAND Each year the Irondale Marching Knights develop a competitive field show production that is an innovative combination of original music, marching movement, and spectacular visual effects performed on a football field. Music of the Knight (MOTK) Irondale s annual marching invitational, is one of the largest and oldest marching competitions in the state. With bands competing each year, the highly regarded contest attracts around 4,000+ spectators each fall. Marching Knights are District 621 s only Marching Band. Over 100 students participate in the Marching Knights annually.
5 ABOUT THE WINTER DRUMLINE The Irondale Winter Drumline creates a unique presentation each year, which furthers students experiences in the marching percussion arts. The drumline competes in local, regional and national competitions during the winter. The season culminates with the MPA State Championships and the WGI Drumline World Championships in Dayton, OH. Irondale s Winter Music of the Knight (WMOTK), our winter drumline invitational competition, hosts 12+ local and regional drumlines each year attracting 2,000+ spectators. The Irondale Winter Drumline is an eight time Minnesota Percussion Association (MPA) State Class Champion. Nationally, they are a four time WGI Percussion Scholastic Class Finalist. In 2017, the 45 member group made A Class finals finishing in 8th place.
6 ABOUT WINTER COLORGUARD Irondale s Winter Music of the Knight (WMOTK), our winter color guard invitational competition, hosts 15+ local and regional color guards each year attracting 2,000+ spectators. The Irondale Winter Color Guard is a twenty-five time North Star Color Guard Circuit (NSC) State Class Champion. Nationally, they are a four time Winter Guard International (WGI) Color Guard Scholastic Class World Finalist and the 2002 Scholastic Open Class National Champion. The Irondale Winter Guard is an extension of the marching band program by providing further training to the color guard members. Its winter presentations are innovative and creative productions showcasing the many skills involved in these visually dazzling performances. The winter color guard competes in local, regional and national competitions in the winter. The season culminates with the NSC State Championships and the WGI World Championships in Dayton, OH.
