Company Code of Conduct and Guidelines

WELCOME TO CDP COMPANY ! We are thrilled to start our season. We have an exciting year ahead planed for our Company! We have new programs that we will be introducing in the next few weeks such as our new TEAM APP and our new STUDIO SOFTWARE, which will provide all of our families with a customized parent portal. If you have not already done so, please sign up for our remind system. We have remind systems for company, RCC, Tinies and now the entire studio! Make sure to sign up for our Remind system by texting phone number the designated code below: Entire Be sure to print the CDP Company Code of Conduct and Guidelines and keep it easily accessible. Prior to starting this new season we will need a copy of your dancer s birth certificate and a signed company contract. There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, August 23 rd at 7:15pm. Everyone is welcome, but it is intended for parents new to Company/RCC/Tinies. Placement It is an honor to be chosen for CDP Company and is not an entitlement. We expect all dancers to work to their full potential at all times. Dancers are placed specifically on teams based on many attributes such as technique, potential, commitment level, attitude, behavior in class, enthusiasm, attendance, and stage presence. Company members are also placed in particular levels based on ability and not primarily on age though that is taken into consideration. The staff and audition judges are trained and qualified dance professionals. Although it may seem to a parent, student, or the untrained eye that a child should be on a different level than they are placed, you must trust CDP Staff as professionals to know and understand all of the criteria deemed appropriate for an individual dancer to perform at and exceed certain levels. We welcome students and parents to ask CDP Staff what their child can work on to improve over the next dance year. We do not welcome challenges to our decisions and unsportsmanlike conduct. Expectations The Carolina Dance Productions Studio Handbook is always applicable to CDP Company dancers in addition to the CDP Company Code of Conduct and Guidelines. It is an honor and privilege to be chosen for CDP Company and is not a right. Dancer behavior should reflect a positive, respectful and humble attitude at all times so other dancers in the studio see them as role models. Many of our recreational dancers and younger students look up to our Company dancers so

please do not let them down by your actions or words. Dancers are expected to be respectful to CDP staff, teammates, their studio, their own bodies, outside choreographers, substitutes, parents and any other persons affiliated with CDP at the studio as well as outside events including, but not limited to competitions, conventions, festivals, etc. Illegal or inappropriate actions are forbidden in any capacity or location on the CDP premises, at competitions, at conventions, on social media and anywhere the CDP Company, studio or studio events are taking place. Any violation will result in notifying the parent/guardian and appropriate actions/probation and/or dismissal from company will take place. Dancers are expected to maintain a healthy and safe body in order to prevent injury and be able to sustain the energy levels needed to keep up with the demands of being a Company level dancer. This includes proper nutrition, hydration, getting enough rest, and appropriate conditioning. Parents of CDP Company Members must also conduct themselves with the highest standards at all times. Any unsportsmanlike conduct or behavior that may be considered offensive whether on the studio premises or elsewhere could result in dismissal of the student. Parents should respect each teacher s designated class time and activities required at performance venues. Parents should refrain from texting comments to staff members, but should resort to scheduling an appointment via if there is a matter they would like to discuss. All Company members must be on auto draft. Families will have the opportunity to chose the first or fifteenth of each month meaning you can opt to draft tuition on the 1 st and all other expenses on the 15 th or tuition and all current fees due, may be charged on the 15 th. Accounts must be maintained in order to participate in CDP Company and/or RCC and Tinies. If a family decides to not hold a card on file, outstanding balances must be paid by cash or check five business days prior to the due date or late fees will apply. Not keeping your account current may jeopardize your dancer s ability to be a member of the CDP Company. Classroom Etiquette Company dancers should arrive to each class ready to dance. This means being on time, dressed appropriately for class with proper dance shoes, proper attire, hair pulled back securely and ready to work. No cell phones or electronic devices can be used during class. Responsibility Dancers may be dropped off 15 minutes prior to their first class of the day. Parents must pick up their child(ren) promptly at the end of their class(es). Students must be picked up within 10 minutes of their class ending. Parents of children ages 8 and younger must come in to pick up their child(ren). For the last class of each day, a late fee will incur for late pickup. After a dancer s first written warning, a $1.00 per minute late fee will be charged to your account. CDP is not responsible for students when they are left at the studio between classes. Often times the studio is unaware of what dancers are doing, how they are behaving, etc. due to staff teaching classes. It is the responsibility of each parent to set the rules and limits of what their child can and cannot do. CDP is not responsible for enforcing these rules.

If a dancer is left at the studio in between classes and a staff member has to reprimand your child, a warning will be given. After your first warning, your child will not be allowed to stay at the studio unattended if they cannot follow studio etiquette. This includes but is not limited to: eating outside of designated areas, running, yelling, defacing CDP property, horse playing in the lobby, going outside of the building, etc. Dancers should not be in the staff only areas. Please do not send food that needs to be refrigerated or microwaved. Please send plastic utensils, cups, napkins etc with your dancer. If at any time CDP provides a student café with a fridge/microwave, we will gladly notify you. Attendance Policy Being a member of CDP Company is equivalent to being a member of any other sports team. Absences will not only hold back the individual dancer, but the company as a whole. A teammate s absence creates a hardship on the group because they cannot rehearse the team formations, lifts, etc. properly. Each Company member cannot exceed two unexcused days of absences per semester. First semester runs September 6 th through December 14 th. Second semester begins January 2 nd and ends May 20 th. After recital and prior to Nationals, there will be a modified attendance policy. If dancers are injured they MUST still attend class. If dancers are contagious, PLEASE STAY HOME. Classes two weeks before any performance are mandatory. If a dancer is not present in this time period, they will not be allowed to perform but must still attend the performance. If this performance is a competition the dancer is still responsible for their entry fees unless a doctor s note is provided. If a dancer has an injury and is unable to dance full out for any reason two weeks prior to any performance, they will not be allowed to perform with their team at the upcoming event and must supply a written Doctor s note. If a dancer has a conflict and is going to be absent for any reason, you must give ample notice by ing CDPCompany16@gmail.com prior to your class start time. If a dancer has a conflict with any competition date, we must be notified by November 1 st. If a group dance has to be reblocked by a dancer s absence, they will be set in a new, suitable formation upon their return. An absence at a competition creates an unfair adversity on the entire Company and for the instructor(s) that have to schedule extra hours of rehearsals and change choreography as the last minute. Please remember this and think of how this affects your team and instructor(s). At Competition, all dancers are required to stay until awards for each of their dances and must be wearing their CDP Company Jacket on stage (fun CDP Posters and/or spirit sticks are encouraged!) Dancers are allowed to sit out of class due to injury and non contagious illness a maximum of three times in the dance year and still be counted present. Any sitting out starting the 4 th time, will count as an absence if you do not provide a doctor s note. NO EXCEPTIONS. Convention and Competition Requirements For the Season, all Company Members will be required to attend one convention, three regional competitions and one national competition.

RCC Members are strongly encouraged to attend one convention and required to attend two local regional competitions. The Team may vote on attending Nationals. Tinies Members are required to attend one local regional competition and may vote to attend an additional regional competition as well as a national competition. Information and Dates are still being released from the competitions and conventions. The attached event calendar is the best information we can give you now. Please understand CDP has the right to modify our Competition and Performance Schedule if we deem it necessary. Dancers must arrive at each competition 90 minutes prior to their estimated performance time fully dressed with hair and makeup completed. Dancers will be notified the week prior to competition of their report time. Parents and dancers are not to linger in the wings or backstage areas to attempt to watch any dances for these are high traffic areas. It is important to not only think about our dances when walking through these areas but to be courteous of other studios and competition staff members. Once entry fees are past due, any account left unpaid will incur a $30 flat late fee in addition to your dancer s total entry fees. There will be no exceptions. Each family will be required to pay an additional $25 Coaches/Admin Fee per competition your dancer attends. This does not apply to Nationals; a Nationals fee will be determined. This fee helps to cover costs such as but not limited to: Extra rehearsals The many hours associated with competition registration of each dancer in each dance at all competitions attended Music editing Cost of competition CDs (For example, if we have 50 competition entries, we must provide 100 CDs making up 50 original copies and 50 backups.) Reviewing judges critique videos post competition Staff As with any other career, if employees put in weekend/overtime hours they expect to be compensated Convention and Competition Etiquette Dancers are to be ready and present at the designated time dressed in all parts of their costume including all accessories (tights, correct shoes, hair pieces, etc.) Hair is to be styled in the style instructed by the Company Director. It is unfair for the entire company to have to make costume changes at the last minute due to a teammate arriving unprepared. It is best to pack all items the day before with a checklist to ensure all items are present. If a dancer arrives without these items, they will not be allowed to perform. Makeup is to be applied the same on each student. Parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from all competitions as well as financially securing overnight accommodations, if necessary. Many parents carpool and split hotel rooms as a means of saving money. Get to know your fellow Company members and their families! We are a team and we try to help each other!

When dancers are accepting awards on stage they are expected to treat everyone on stage with the upmost respect. Look at the presenter/emcee in the eyes, smile and say thank you. Dancers should respect their assignments for accepting awards for the Company meaning the same dancer should not accept more than one group award per competition. CDP Staff will assign a dancer for each group dance at each competition based on work ethic and attitude in class. It is our hopes that each company member will be chosen to receive an award on behalf of their group. Parents and dancers are to be courteous of other dancers and studios. Do not walk in the aisles or in the front of the auditorium when a routine is being performed. Please make sure to wait at the back of the house or behind doors until you hear that the routine is finished. When sitting in the audience, be respectful of other studios by clapping for everyone and not discussing other dances/studios, as you have no idea who may be sitting around you. Dancers and Parents are to treat all Competition, Convention, and CDP Staff with respect. We want to make sure that each competition and convention staff remembers CDP as pleasant and respectful. It is not the responsibility of CDP Staff to bring your lost belongings or provide a replacement to you the day of an event. Please give the staff ample notice prior to an event, as often times; we must leave a day early. It is unacceptable for parents to text/call staff members the day of an event to go look for an item at the studio, it is the dancer s/parent s responsibility to double-check that you have all items. Hair and Makeup Our mandatory hair and makeup meeting will take place during our production choreography weekend. October 7 th 9 th. The exact day/time of this meeting will be given closer to the date. Tinies and RCC will also attend this meeting. The hair supplies, eyelashes, and makeup list will be provided at this time. Costumes Costumes are very important in setting the mood for a piece of choreography. We will prepare a mix of custom, store-bought and/or pieced collaborations that can range from $50 - $175. Please note that many variables are taken into consideration with final costume costs. These include, but are not limited to props, costume coordination and embellishment, order processing fees, etc. On Company Registration Night, dancers will be required to pay a $50 costume deposit for each class performing a competition routine. Company costume balances will be due within 30 days of their order date. You will receive an invoice via with your remaining balance with a net 30 due date. All costumes are to be altered through Carolina Dance Productions to ensure uniformity. If you do not feel as if your dancer s costume fits correctly, please send an to set an appointment for a fitting. Any alteration costs will be in addition to your costume balance but will be kept at a minimum. Jewelry Your required jewelry payment of $40, which includes a choker and one set of earrings, is due October 1 st along with your tuition. While staff typically brings extra accessories/jewelry to events, it is not the staff s responsibility to provide a replacement for your lost item(s) at the event. Please notify CDP Staff with ample notice prior to any performance or event.

Registration/Operating Fee This fee of $200 will be due in two $100 installments on August 15 th and November 1 st. RCC/Tinies fee of $100 is due November 1 st. This fee will be used for but not limited to studio costs associated with Company choreography of each Company routine, travel expenses for conventions, competitions, local events, Reveal, Recital, props, and transportation of props. Student Dismissal Dancers may be dismissed from the CDP Dance Company for violations of their Company Contract, or from parent/guardian violations. Parents/guardians are ethically and legally responsible for all fees discussed herein, even in the event that they may withdraw their child from CDP for any reason. It is clear that no merchandise such as, but not limited to, costumes, shoes, warm-up jackets, etc. will be given to a parent/guardian/student if there is a past due balance of any kind on their account. If tuition is past due, any payments made for fees owed other than tuition will be immediately applied to the past due tuition first. If any credit is left over, it will be applied to additional fees. The policies and guidelines stated herein will be strictly enforced and interpreted by the laws of the state of North Carolina. In signing the attached Company Commitment Contract all parties are agreeing to abide by these rules throughout the duration of the time that your child is a part of Carolina Dance Production s Company. Choreography It is understood that all dances taught to the dancers in the CDP Company will not be repeated, duplicated, or displayed at any other dance studio in a competition or recital setting. As a member of the CDP Company, dancers are not permitted to dance at other studios in their competitive/company/class groups or share/teach the choreography taught to them in whole or in part by Carolina Dance Productions Staff. In certain charity and community events, such as local festivals, school talent shows, etc. this is allowed if prior written and verbal approval is received by the student and parent from CDP s Company Director. Otherwise, no exceptions will be given to this rule. Conflict of Interest As a member of the CDP Competitive Company, dancers are encouraged to participate in additional training opportunities in the form of dance conventions, intensives, and master classes at various venues and other dance studios. Our Company members are however not allowed to be regular students at another dance school or studio as it is a conflict of interest and too difficult to fully commit to all that we require here and at another studio. The only exception to this would be, for example, if a student wanted to take a weekly ballroom class. As we do not offer a regular ballroom class and as long as the student could fit that in without conflict with CDP s schedule, it is allowed. CDP s rehearsal schedule should always come first if choosing between conflicts such as the Nutcracker, cheerleading/other sports teams, etc.
