2 Presidents Hangar Fred Hostetler May 2007 PAGE 2 The OMAS RC model Air Show for this year is July 14 & 15, That date should be on your calendar. We ll need as much help and as many members to come out as possible. Last year was a fun time because we had a lot of planes and people to watch. You don t have to sign up, but we do need you to show up and help where ever you can. I repeated this portion of a paragraph from last month s article. The advertising flyers are going into the hobby shops so we are on track. It is really important that you set aside either that weekend or a portion of it to help put this event together. After all we are OMAS and our effort pays off by entertaining the folks who come to watch as well as, hopefully, pay for our yearly lease. The Friday before (July 13 th ) will be set up and final clean up day for the RC Air Show. The Sky Knights were at the field on April 21 st. If you missed them it was probably because you thought no one would show up due to a little rain. Well they ended up with almost ten participants and some spectators. The note I got back was very positive and we were asked if we would have them out again. I said yes, just tell us the date when you d like to come out. I received a call from the Queens Own boat group. For new members, this is a group that uses scale boats of destroyers, battle cruisers, etc. to fire pellets at other models. If you ve never seen this, come on out the weekend of May 26/27. Amy Eng leads this event and she is trying to get folks from Seattle and other locations in the NW to come and participate. We haven t heard from Amy in several years so maybe they ve got a group put together again. The field is looking very nice after our clean up day. Several things still need to be tidied up, but all in all, the field is looking good. The new, metal roof on the club house is installed and looks good. The safety fence has been mended. We will need to add some rock to the drive soon. Joe Salus has the new drinking fountain and should have it mounted fairly soon. Now if it would finally stop raining for a while, we could all get out and enjoy what we like best flying. One last item please mark June 10 th (Sunday) afternoon for a club picnic and General Meeting. Time for the G.M. will be 11:00 AM with food, fun, and flying to follow. This is our second quarter meeting. We will have some prizes with meat and beverage supplied by the club. A pot-luck dish would be greatly appreciated.. Fred Hostetler
