1 ATTENDANCE AT DRESS REHEARSAL IS MANDATORY All students must attend. Renting the theater and paying a technical crew for dress rehearsal is very expensive. We would not do it, if it were not necessary! Any eating must be done in the dressing rooms only. If you need to eat, bring water and a sandwich only. No food/snacks are allowed in the theater. Please leave the theater immediately after your child s rehearsal in order to allow for sufficient parking for the other dancers coming after you. Only 1 person should accompany your child to the dress rehearsal. (2 at most) Videotaping is allowed at dress rehearsal only. It is not allowed at the shows. If you need a table to put make-up on, please bring a small tv table. THANK YOU, DANCE WORLD ACADEMY

2 DANCE WORLD ACADEMY DRESS REHEARSAL INFORMATION & SCHEDULE 2018 NAME CLASS YOUR CHILD MUST ATTEND THE FOLLOWING DRESS REHEARSAL FOR THE ABOVE CLASS: WEDNESDAY MAY 30TH TIME: THURSDAY MAY 31 ST TIME: FRIDAY JUNE 1 ST TIME: ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!!!!!! DRESS REHEARSAL AT JAMES CALDWELL HIGH SCHOOL, WEST CALDWELL, NJ ADDRESS: 265 WESTVILLE AVE WEST CALDWELL, NJ PLEASE GOOGLE, GPS OR MAPQUEST THE BEST ROUTE FROM YOUR HOUSE. Your child MUST arrive at the theatre and report to the dressing room area in their first costume and make-up for his/her dance at least ONE HALF HOUR BEFORE his/her dance is scheduled to rehearse. The rehearsal schedule is on the attached sheet. IT IS MANDATORY THAT ALL PERFORMERS ATTEND DRESS REHEARSAL, AS IT IS THE ONLY TIME THAT THE STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO GET THEIR CORRECT SPACING ON STAGE. DRESS REHEARSAL IS ALSO ESSENTIAL IN RELIEVING MANY OF THE NERVOUS JITTERS THAT ACCOMPANY PERFORMING. This is also the time when the technical crew sets the lights and cues for each dance. IF A CHILD DOES NOT ATTEND DRESS REHEARSAL, THEY CANNOT PERFORM IN THE SHOW. The order of the show varies for each performance. Please check at the studio for the performance order on each night. PLEASE COOPERATE WITH US!!! We ask that only one person accompany each child to dress rehearsal in order to avoid confusion. Parents do not need to stay backstage with their children. Teachers and our Office staff will be there to supervise.no FOOD IS PERMITTED BACKSTAGE OR IN THE AUDITORIUM!!! Be careful not to get food on costumes. Please keep in mind that this rehearsal is not only for the dancers, but for the technical crew as well. Things will go wrong and dances will have to be run again. PLEASE BE PATIENT! Rehearsal makes certain that the show will run smoothly. PLEASE TRIPLE CHECK THAT: 1 - ALL HEADPIECES ARE SECURE. 2 - ELASTICS ARE SEWN ON BALLET SLIPPERS, TAP SHOES AND COSTUMES. 3 - TUCK BALLET SLIPPER STRINGS INSIDE OF BALLET SHOES! (DO NOT MAKE LITTLE BOWS). 4 - PLEASE, ALL COSTUMES ARE TO BE FIXED PROPERLY PER THE COSTUME DIRECTIONS YOU RECEIVED. 5 - YOUR TIGHTS ARE YOUR UNDERWEAR. ANY ADDITIONAL UNDERWEAR, MUST BE DANCE UNDERWEAR (AVAILABLE AT CAPEZIO) OR TINY FLESH COLORED UNDERWEAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE A PANTY LINE. IT CAN NOT LEAVE A PANTY LINE OR STICK OUT OF YOUR COSTUME. 6 - ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY IS TO BE WORN THIS INCLUDES NECKLACES, EARRINGS AND WATCHES. (IF YOUR CHILD ARRIVES WEARING JEWELRY, IT WILL BE REMOVED!). 7 - NO NAIL POLISH IS TO BE WORN. 8 - SHOES MUST BE PAINTED THE CORRECT COLOR! 9- WEAR PERFORMANCE TIGHTS AND MAKE-UP (SEE PHOTO SCHEDULE).

3 PAGE 3 CAMERAS AND VIDEOTAPING Video taping & pictures PERMITTED AT DRESS REHEARSAL ONLY. Videotaping and pictures, in any form, are NOT PERMITTED AT ANY PERFORMANCE. NO PERSON will be admitted into the auditorium on ANY night of the show while carrying any of the above equipment. COOPERATION AND PATIENCE We are very fortunate to have many wonderful parents who understand the complex problems involved in putting on such an elaborate and professional production. Unfortunately, however, there are always a few who do not seem to realize the hours of hard work that goes into what they see onstage. Often, they fly off the handle over some small problems or simply refuse to cooperate with the rules we have set. We CANNOT manage our entire student body and run a smooth show without our rules. They absolutely must be followed! Problems that crop up can more easily be solved if everyone stays calm! NO ONE likes a problem to occur, especially not the organizers of our show who have labored endlessly to make a great show. Life is made up of problems and we must cope with them the best we can. PLEASE TRY TO STAY CALM! DANCE WORLD ACADEMY prides itself on producing a beautiful show that you can be proud to take your friends and family to. Let s everyone try to enjoy it. PLEASE COOPERATE! Prepare for a long sit knit, do crossword puzzles or just sit back and relax. COSTUMES All lost costume part problems can be avoided if you follow a few simple suggestions: 1 - Put your child s name on everything! 2 - Before leaving for the theatre, check to make sure you have everything! (Especially gloves, headpieces, etc.) 3 - Before leaving the theatre, check again to make sure you have everything! 4 - If your child has several costume changes, bring a box to the theatre with his/her name on it. Put all costumes and accessories in the box when your child finishes performing. Tell your child not to throw everything all over. 5 - Please check the order of the show at the studio. If your child has a fast change make sure someone will be there to help him/her! We cannot be responsible for changing each and every child!
