1 BETH FOWLER DANCE COMPANY NUTCRACKER REHEARSAL SCHEDULE 2018 ****Updated 11/26/18***** Mandatory Dress Rehearsals- These are the week prior to the Nutcracker performances. The dress rehearsals will be held at the Genoa dance studio Sunday, November 25 th through Tuesday, November 27 th for the Genoa dancers in Cast I, II, III and at the Egyptian Theater Wednesday, November 28 th and Thursday, November 29 th. Dress rehearsals will be held at the St. Charles studio on Tuesday, December 4 th and Wednesday, December 5 th and at the St Charles North High School on Friday December 7 th and Saturday December 8 th for the students in the Cast IV, V Photos by Andra- Andra Elk will be taking photos at all dress rehearsals held at the Genoa dance studio Sunday, November 25 th through Tuesday November 27 th and on Tuesday December 4 th and Wednesday December 5 th at the St Charles Studio. Order forms will be sent out soon. Rehearsal helpers will take the dancers to have photos taken and will take your order at that time to the photographer. These rehearsals should be treated like the real show; the young dancers should have their hair and make-up done at home so they arrive at the rehearsals ready to go. Dancers must have their hair in buns with all bangs pinned and sprayed back flat. If the hair is too short for a bun, French braid the hair back securely; this is true for everyone except the Cousins, Jack n the Box, Mice, Rats and Mother Ginger Dancers. Remember the dancers are under stage lights and bangs will shadow their faces. COUSINS - The girl cousins must have their hair down with many curls (banana curls are from that era). Their bangs and sides should be pulled and slicked back in a rubber band (half pony). Hair bows will be provided for them. RATS Should have their hair in a French braid with the ends tucked under (buns will not fit under the masks); the bangs should also be slicked back. Rats also need black tights and black dance shoes (ballet or jazz). The Rats will need a black turtleneck which we have however if they wish to wear their own they may. ALL MOTHER GINGER DANCERS, JACK IN THE BOX DANCERS & MICE -Need to have two ponytails on the side of the head with lots of curls (bangs, sides and backs need to be slicked down). Make-up should be applied at home highlighting the eyes, lips and cheeks for the performances and the rehearsal in which their photo will be taken. Mice should have 3 black whiskers on each side of the nose and a little black circle on the end of the nose. (Stage moms will apply theses since most of the mice are also Jack N the Box dancers first. If your dancer needs a special kind of pencil for allergy reasons please send it with them) REMEMBER: All dancers should come to rehearsals with their dress code dancewear under their regular clothes. Their hair and make-up should be ready to go. Please provide your dancer(s) with some type of dance bag for the clothes and shoes that they will be taking off. This will help eliminate the problems of lost shoes, clothes and other items. This would be a great help! Call Times: All dancers should arrive at the Call Time listed for their dance regardless of whether or not they are purchasing a photo. The class shot will include everyone and the call times insure everyone is present in case we are running ahead of schedule. PLEASE BE ON TIME. THE THEATER REHEARSALS ARE VERY TIGHTLY SCHEDULED AND LATE ARRIVALS WILL GREATLY AFFECT ALL DANCES. MAKE SURE YOU ENTER ON TIME AND BEGIN TO STRETCH AND WARM UP. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door 1 hour prior to each performance. DAY OF THE SHOW The Backstage door can NOT be opened for any reason while the performance is in progress! Outside noise and light goes onto the stage and the stage lighting is destroyed if the backstage door is opened (door in alley). Please get your dancers when the show is over. The show is kept down to an enjoyable length (less than two hours). Ticket Stubs during intermission should be kept! You will need them in order to return to your seats. Please remember, all seats are reserved. CLOSED DRESS REHEARSALS!!!!! Dress rehearsals are CLOSED. This means no parents, guardians or anyone not in the show is allowed to sit in the theater. The dancers will be safe with the adult class helpers. There is also no videotaping or photo taking at the rehearsals. Help us stay on schedule better and eliminate much confusion as extra noise and people in the theater only cause delays in the schedule. Ms Beth and the dancers work very hard on these performances and they want everyone to see the performances at their best. Rehearsals are for ironing out the kinks. When people watch rehearsals it puts more stress on the dancers and teachers. Let s make the performances be your first viewing of all the hard work your dancer has put into The Nutcracker. Have a great show! VOLUNTEERS- I will be using Volunteer Spot again this year for stage moms and balcony/lobby helpers for dads. A link will be sent in a separate by the end of the week 10/21. If you do not receive it please let me know. If you wish to help with your dancers group you MUST REGISTER TO DO SO. If your dancers group already has enough helpers please think about helping with another group I will make sure you get to go up and see your dancer at their time to dance as well. I will be handing out the name tags at the call times to the parents who have signed up. ONLY those parents will be allowed to be back stage and in the dressing room areas. All Other parents should drop off your dancers ready to go. You will not be allowed downstairs at the Egyptian or in the backstage area at the St Charles North High School. This is for the safety of the dancers as well as the ability to keep all the dancers focused and dressed and ready to go. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
