Our own NAIDOC day at Glenrock at the end of last term was a huge success. This newsletter is full of fun photos! Friday Week 1 27th August To Week 8 14th September T-ball We will be planting some small shrubs and groundcover over the next week. Our thanks go to Lake Macquarie Council for their support in a few of our activities. Children might need some gardening gloves in their bags. If you have a green thumb or just feel like helping with some clean up in our gardens getting ready for spring just drop in to see me. Monday 6th August Zone Athletics Tuesday 7th August Little Athletics Talk Good luck to our zone athletes competing next Monday and our public speakers later in the week. Thursday 9th August Public Speaking - Stage 2 We had a very interesting P&C meeting last week. Our guest was James Marshall from Centennial Coal. He spoke about their future plans and learning opportunities for our children. There will be further involvement. Friday 10th August Public Speaking - Early Stage 1 Our rural community is doing it tough. We have registered for the Buy a Bale appeal and are awaiting how best to support our farmers. Stay tuned. Monday 13th August Public Speaking - Stage 3 See you at this week s assembly, this Friday. Tuesday 14th August Junior Netball & Cooranbong Science Day Wednesday 15th August Public Speaking - Stage 1 & Fassi Flyers Please add any dates marked with an asterisk to your Term Calendar

Facebook Page: Don t forget to keep up with the latest school news via Facebook or Fassifern PS website: Current news on Facebook: Code club party P&C School Disco Circle of Security - Program for parents Glenrock Lagoon NAIDOC Excursion Ship o Fools - School Waste Wrappers Show
3 Last week we had the Ship o Fools duo come to present the School Waste Wrappers Show. We learned a lot about the importance of separating our rubbish correctly. The new green bin system was also explained in a very entertaining and fun way. There was singing, music, juggling, some tricks and lots of environmental messages.
4 On the last Friday of Term 2, all students from Fassifern Public School went to Glenrock Reserve for a special NAIDOC week excursion. We were welcomed at Glenrock by two Indigenous Australian Park Rangers who were our guides for the day. These rangers showed us many techniques that Aboriginal people used to survive in the bush. They showed us how to find bush tucker, water and medicines. They also showed us how to use various plants to make shelters, ropes and baskets. Hearing their stories has inspired us to learn more about Indigenous Australian culture. We had an amazing time being out in nature and exploring our local environment.
5 P&C Our disco was a great success and such a fun night out. It far exceeding our expectations. It was fantastic to see so many families joining in and enjoying themselves. Thank you to everyone who came out. It took a lot of planning and organizing so a big thankyou to our Fundraiser coordinator Hailee Versluis for all the hard work she put in to it and to everyone who helped out in the lead up and on the night. Our Fathers Day celebrations are just a few weeks away, so we are asking if anyone has anything they would like to donate for the stall to please bring it into the office. All donations are greatly appreciated. Anyone who donates will receive a ticket into our raffle.
