1 The Peach Beat December 29, 2018 Weekly Newsletter We had a great time at Fire and Brimstone! We had a good crowd enjoying the music, food, laughter, friendship.and the Carolina shag dance! Thanks to Rena Wood for taking our pictures! Rena Wood needs a few more folks to take pictures once a month. Please reach out to her. 2 Message from Dennis Franklin Club President The new year's party will bring my second term as your president to its conclusion. Thank you for allowing me to serve you. ShagAtlanta is a great club filled with wonderful people. I sincerely appreciate the great attitude of my fellow club members. Thanks for all the help you have given me. Thanks to my EC members and all the others who have given of their time and talent. Our club can only be great by contributions from our members. Please welcome Don Hicks as he begins his term as president. I know he will do a great job. Remember to avoid any nonemergency matters on Saturday night, as Don needs to have some fun and spend time with his lovely wife, Bonny. Try to make his job as easy as possible. This will help people to volunteer for president in the future. God bless all of you and Happy New year!

3 We are dancing at Fire and Brimstone on Saturday, January 5 for our re-up party. This is when we pay our annual dues - $45 per person. Fire and Brimstone Tavern Old Alabama Road Connector Alpharetta GA If you aware of any other dance locations, send to Don Hicks (donhicks911@comcast.net). New Year s Eve We will have a pre-party at the hotel (Courtyard by Marriot Atlanta Northlake). Party starts at 2pm in Hospitality room. Bring food to share.

12 Message from Rena Wood Our Dance Class Coordinator Extraordinaire FREE SHAG LESSONS WILL RESUME FEB 2nd Start the New Year out right, come dance with us at Fire & Brimstone on January 5, Everyone needs to check this place out... For us it was about minutes further but not a bad drive as we hit no traffic again, hope it works out that way on the 5th. Our Reup Party is on January 5th with Jim Agee as our DJ. We will try to work in a line dance in January while the shag lessons take a break. Pick up a "JACKIE & CHARLIE BASIC PLUS CAROLINA SHAG" DVD for a Christmas gift, they are $25.00 each. Great to have on hand to go over steps taught in BASIC I and BASIC II. I also have a few ShagAtlanta bags left - $5.00 each. See me or the Welcome Desk. Ramon Sabordo Merrilee Waterstone recent surgery Trish Hill recent surgery Allen Henry fell at home and broke his femur and had to have surgery with his old hip replacement removed, the bone repaired, and a new replacement hip. 24 The Gold Standard Band is excited to announce a new public venue where everyone can come out to dance and party with us on January 4th at 8:30 PM. We will be playing at Club 201 (American Legion Post 201) at 201 Wills Rd., Alpharetta, GA. Club 201 is all about the music and dancing and they have an enormous dance floor and even offer dance lessons before some events. There is a cash bar but no food service. There is a $10 cover charge, a portion of which goes to provide support for our troops overseas. Come out and party with GSB at this great new venue. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone!
