1 QCBM Minutes December 5, 2018 President Mary Smith opened the meeting at 9:30. Mary thanked Bonnie Ward for bringing in a copy of Artifacts, a Dunedin Fine Arts publication. The guild was mentioned in it for the donation we made to their summer program as a thank you for displaying our Challenge Quilts. Last week at Sit N Sew we had a room full of people working on Quilt Show projects. January 2 nd will be another Sit N Sew and an opportunity to get help on completing your quilt, binding, making and attaching the sleeve, and basting quilts larger then 83 x 88, finishing your vest. The Quilt Show is only 7 weeks away! Mary reminded everyone that we are required to wear out vests for both days of the show. Please be sure to finish yours in time. Next Wednesday is our Holiday Luncheon, the only other event this month. Remember to bring your Secret Pal gifts to the luncheon. The January Business meeting will be held on the 9 th since some members will not be back from vacations by January 2 nd. Cathy Johnson s surgery went well and she came home from the hospital Sunday. She has expressed her thanks for the texts, cards, s and calls. Cathy will let us know when she is ready to receive visitors. Mary had a long conversation with Irene Pappas and she asked to be remembered to all of us. Please remember her with a card or call. She will cheer you up! Annette Horner and Kelly Bliss are collecting Friendship star blocks for Irene thru the Luncheon. Her colors are blue or teal batiks with white on white background. Ann Blazer is feeling much better but tires easily. She is busy however making blocks for the block party and is entering a quilt in the show. Ann also plans to work some shifts in CD&M. Joan Tegan is having a back procedure to help with her back pain. Ellie Fitzgerald s husband is home and starting rehab. Ellie is still unsure if or when they may come to Florida this winter. Thought for the Day Josie McFarlane gave a quilters rendition of The Night Before Christmas. Secretary/Correspondence Linda DeMola asked if there were any corrections to the November minutes. Hearing none they will stand as posted. She posted a letter from FEAST requesting donations due to the Holidays and the increase in people in need as many families displaced by Hurricane Michael have relocated to the area. There are bookmarks for the Mancuso Quilt show on the communication board as well as postcards about Celtic Quilt Tours. This is the tour group many of us used to tour Ireland in June Our own Cathy Johnson has a quilt in the Birmingham England Quilt Show in July. She and Tammy Peters are going on a tour that includes 3 days at the Show. Treasurer s Report Judy Haller - Monthly Money Minder reports attached. Checking Account $ 2, Savings Account 17, Quilt Show Account 12, $32,540.33

2 Committee Reports; Education Annette Horner reminded us there would be no Education in January as we will be preparing for the Quilt Show. In February the education will be a presentation by Brenda Grampsas, Scrapalicious. She is a registered appraiser and will be available to do quilt appraisals after the presentation. In March Karen Grof will do a presentation and Jennifer Newell is on the calendar for April. Workshop Katy Gerritt reported the February workshop, a Free Motion Class by Lauren Jackson, is full at 30 members and the cost is $22. The fee may be paid by cash or checks payable to Quilters Crossing and is due by December 28 th. Because this is an outside the guild teacher no refunds will be available, however you may transfer the fee to someone on the waiting list should you not be able to attend. There will be no Workshop in March due to the Spring Luncheon. In April look for another class by Jo Groves. Hospitality- Chris Peckham and Josie McFarlane Be sure to bring your Secret Pal gifts to the luncheon next week. Wally Villalobos won the door prize. Chris said about 62 members are planning on attending the luncheon. She needs to give a final count today so let her know if you want to attend before leaving today. The luncheon will be held at Bon Appetite Restaurant in Dunedin on December 12 th. Social time starts at 12:30 with lunch served at 1PM. An ornament exchange will follow today s business meeting with 25 members participating. Refreshments for all are available. December birthdays were recognized. Chris asked if anyone has a coffee maker and a couple of coolers she can borrow for the Quilt Show to let her know. At the Hospitality Table Chris has flyers with the address and time for a fabric sale her friend is having this Sunday. All fabric is $4 per yard. Lunch Becky Albritton - Today we are going to Dufff s Buffet. Membership Carrie Shelby There are 75 members present and 1 visitor, Bert Milhouse, who is interested in becoming a member. Philanthropic Diana Bendert and Chris Nelson Today s 50/50 totaled $97 and an additional $29 was donated directly to FEAST. We also received 53 food items. Barbara Lueth won $48.50 and donated it back to FEAST. A total of $126 will be sent to FEAST. We have 17 completed quilts ready to donate, for a total of 70 quilts completed for Sheriff s Advocacy this year. We are well on our way to achieving the goal of 100 by Match 31, Quilt Show report Tammy Peters Tammy thanked those who volunteered at JoAnns. $187 was raised. She also thanked Rhonda Baker who has been helping Cathy and Tammy behind the scenes. The drawing for the Treasure basket will be held following her report.

3 The program booklet has been sent to the printer. A total of $1160 was received for ads and that amount will cover the cost of printing. The Opportunity Quilt sales to date total $ Ten members still need to turn in their ticket money. Debi Barnes still needs to receive the $10 donated items from some members. She handed out forms and item tags to those who gave her the intent to sell items in the boutique. If you plan on making items to sell and she did not get the intent form please fill one out and give it to her. She will bring forms and tags to the luncheon. Forms will be available to print on the website and in Quilt Bits. The last day to turn in Block Party blocks will be at the luncheon next week. Gail Crotty said that she has enough items for CD&M. If you submitted items up to 3 days after the November meeting then your items were accepted. Mary Smith asked basket coordinators to let Linda DeMola know of the size of your baskets as she is planning table placement. A three page Quilt Show January Timeline was handed out at the membership table today. Tammy reviewed page 1 (attached to the minutes). Page 2 & 3 will be reviewed at the January meeting. No Touchies are still being turned in. Quilt Show bookmarks are still available. See Dolly Talmadge if you need some. Carol Scott held the drawing for the Treasure Basket, leftover fabric from making the group quilt, along with a bottle of wine. Brenda Turner won! Tickets to win the Group Quilt will begin at the luncheon next week. Pre show pricing special - $1 per ticket or buy 5 and get 2 free! The special pricing is offered at the Holiday Luncheon and the January Business meeting only. There was no old business. Under new business Carrie Shelby asked members to send her photos of items they are making to sell in the boutique. She is planning on putting some teasers on the Quilt Show Facebook page. Tables set up for large quilt basting. (Larger than 83 x 88 ) Wednesday, January 9 - Business meeting 9:30AM Work Sheet Sign-ups continue for show tasks Jan Hand in Basket items. ID tags for quilts to be distributed. Wednesday, January 16 9:00AM Quilt Show Prep Training for men and members of Pipe and Drape, and hanging teams of the Quilt Hanging Committee. Cashier Training for anyone handling money by Judy Haller. Boutique check out procedures including How to use the Square by Debi Barnes. Wednesday, January 23 9:00 AM Quilt Show Prep Assembly and wrapping of Raffle Baskets. Each basket team is responsible for assembling and wrapping their themed container. Supplies will be provided for wrapping. Corsages may be signed out today with a $5.00 fee that is refundable when corsage is returned. Please bring correct change.
