Just thought I would throw that out there in case you haven t been to the club in a while. We are continuing to have new dancers join us each week wanting to learn about this crazy dance called the SHAG. The lessons are going well and thanks go out to Jewell and Larry for stepping in to help with the basic lesson instruction. The BBC has been getting some recognition in the shag world for all our hard work. We were mentioned at the ACSC meeting for the sales of Fun Monday tickets sold at 100, which was a greater amount sold November/December Page 1 Page 2,3 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Page 9 Page 10 Page 11 President s Letter Halloween What s Up! Happy Feet DJ Schedule Top 40 New Members Shannon s Bar & Grill Flyers than many clubs with more members. A big thank you goes to Julia and Karen for handling our Fun Monday sales. We also received a nice thank you from our sister club, The Northern Virginia Shag Club, thanking us for the volunteers who helped at the ACSC summer workshop. A very special event is coming our way. The 2016 Virginia Shaggers Hall of Fame Induction will be held in Fredericksburg at The Hospitality House. That s right, in our own stomping grounds. The date is March 25 th -27 th 2016, and I hope that anyone in our club that can attend will do so. Be sure to get your tickets soon. This is a BIG deal for us and I hope that a big turnout will show that our club is as strong and supportive as any. Our BBC election is almost upon us and I hope that we have some new members stepping up to lend a hand in keeping or club running smoothly. It is easy to sit back and see things happen, but it is very fulfilling to be able to put in your two cents. I encourage everyone to think about running for an office and bring your thoughts and ideas to the table. Last month we had a fall pavilion party at the Elks. We had a good time that day although it was a little the cool and windy. Very windy. Music, dancing, burgers, hot dogs and, we even had brats cooked by our member Jim McMorrow, who volunteered to man the grill. Thanks Jim, it was great seeing you. The Halloween party was a blast. I left ALL PUMPED UP thanks to Bruce. The costumes this year were over the top. Check out the photos in this issue. WHO are the people that come each year. If you know please tell me. As usual, Darlene and her team did a fabulous job with the decorations, food and games. This will be my final letter as President. It is time for someone else to oversee things. I have never thought of myself as President, only as a member who likes taking his girl out dancing at least once a week, teaching beginners the basic or a new step to a regular, and of course, hanging with the best friends a club can have. The new President will have behind him or her some of the best people there are in the shag community. Lastly, it has been a pleasure to have served numerous times as President, and I can only hope that others that follow receive the same support that I have been given. I thank you all. Wes

2 Battlefield Boogie Club does it again!! By Don Borja It was a Hell of a night. Zombies, ghouls, monsters, escaped prisoners, mummies, and a pretty witch or two. There were times when a wicked damsel, spider lady, would cast spells on helpless shaggers calling them to rise from their formica tombstone graves onto the dance floor. There were even a few Woodstock Hippies that danced to the enticing vinyl howling of our DJ, Craig Jennings, on his turntable of monster sounds. The wicked witch, Darlene Weaver, and her creative goblins really know how to dig up Rockn Mummies in a nightclub graveyard. A big thanks to all who wore costumes that night. The spirit of fun, fun, fun was had by all. No tricks and all treats were expressed by all who came to our door of the spooky Shannon Mansion with their huggies & candy bags.
