1 Preliminary Sunday, September 6, 2:00pm Agricenter Auditorium Semifinals Monday Labor Day Sept. 7, 2:00pm Agricenter Auditorium Finals Tuesday, Sept. 08, 7:00pm Agricenter Main Stage MID-SOUTH FAIR PRELIMINARY SENIOR DIVISION-AGES Modeled after the American Idol talent contest, Star of the Fair will be a feature attraction at the 2015 Delta Fair & Music Festival taking place Sunday, September 6, 2015 through Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Agricenter International 7777 Walnut Grove Rd, Memphis, TN We will have a Junior and Senior Division The same rules apply to both the Junior and Senior Division Junior Division ages 8 12 years old. You must be 8 years old by September 6, There will be ten (10) finalists in the Junior Division. There will be three (3) cash prizes for the Junior Division. 1 st Place $ nd Place $ rd Place $ Senior Division ages years old. You must be 13 years old by September 6, We will have fifteen (15) finalists in the Senior Division. There will be three (3) cash prizes for the Senior Division. (Contestants must be 8 to 28 years old on or before September 6, 2015) 1

2 All who wish to enter the competition must pre-register by faxing or mailing the Entry Form located on the last page of this packet. The only fee to enter is $35 which includes free admission to the Delta Fair & Music Festival on Sunday, September 6, 2015 the first round of tryouts. The top 15 finalists from the Senior Semi Final Competitions, and the top 10 from the Junior Division, will compete in the Final Competition at the Delta Fair & Music Festival ( on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 7:00pm on the Main Stage. The Star of the Fair winner will be determined by judging and crowd response. There will be a category that says audience response. SCHEDULE Entry Form is available online. On or before, Monday August 31st Entries received after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015 will be $ Cash only if registering at the door. Registration at the door, as space permits. Entry to fair not included for registration at the door. Sunday, September 6, 1:00pm Final registration ($50) at the door, cash only. Sunday, September 6, 2015 All pre-registered competitors will need to arrive at the Delta Fair & Music Festival at 1:00p.m. to be given a tryout number. There will be a list of contestant s names at the ticket booth at entrance #3 off of Walnut Grove to get you into the Delta Fair. No other entrance will allow you free admission. Competitors will gather in the Auditorium in the Agricenter and Round 1 tryouts will begin at 2:00pm. The judges will announce who has made it to the semi-finals on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the conclusion of the show. Semi- Finals will be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2015 at 2:00pm. Sunday, September 6, 2015: The semi-finalists will be given a ticket for the semifinals which will also get them back into the Delta Fair at no cost on Monday, September 7,

3 Monday, September 7, 2015: The semi-finalists will need to arrive at the Delta Fair & Music Festival at 1:00 pm. They will then gather in the Auditorium in the Agricenter where the semi-finals will begin at 2:00pm. At the end of this day, approximately 6:00 pm, the Finalists will be announced. - Ten (10) for the Junior Division and Fifteen (15) for the Senior Division. The Finalists will compete head to head on the Main Stage Tuesday night, September 8, 2015 starting at 7:00pm to determine the Star of the Fair Winner for THE COMPETITION PROCESS Round 1 will be just like American Idol tryouts a short a cappella tryout not to exceed one minute in front of 3 judges. Contestants may use a chromatic pitch pipe or cell phone to get their starting note. The semi final round on Monday September 7, 2015 will be a karaoke/music Track in CD format not to exceed two (2) minutes or you may again sing a cappella. The Finals will be a Karaoke/Music Track in CD format only. Finalists will need to arrive by 4:30pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 and will need their performance music track in the form of CD format only. Bring two (2) copies of the CD. Each Finalist will perform one routine (no longer than 5 minutes in length) and will be judged on crowd response and judges point system. Alternates will be determined from each Semi-Final Competition in the event a contestant does not meet the STAR OF THE FAIR requirements. Star of the Fair, Expo South, FM 100, and Entercom Radio are not responsible for lost, stolen, mangled, mis-delivered, illegible, incomplete or late entries. One person will be awarded the grand prize. REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER THE STAR OF THE FAIR You are a legal U.S. citizen or a permanent U.S. resident who is eligible to work full-time in the United States; and if you are in the Final competition at the Delta Fair & Music Festival on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, you MUST be able to demonstrate prior to the final round that you do not have a professional recording contract. WHAT TO BRING TO THE SEMI FINAL COMPETITIONS Identification: If you are questioned about your age, you must have in possession one form of proof of age. Failure to do so could result in disqualification at the end. 3

4 Release: Print out and sign the release form provided at Under 18: If you are under 18 years of age, you must be accompanied by your parent or legal guardian. If you are accompanied by a legal guardian (as opposed to a parent), your legal guardian must bring proof of guardianship or you will not be able to audition. In addition, your parent or legal guardian must have the authority to sign documents on your behalf, including the release form on the website (which should be signed by you and your parent and/or legal guardian, as indicated on the form). Disqualifications: We reserve the right to disqualify and/or exclude, in our sole and absolute discretion, any individual from any of the auditions for any reason or for no reason at all, including without limitation, violation of any portion of these rules, or tampering with the entry process or the audition process. We also reserve the right to change the rules and procedures at any time. Being chosen to compete at any level in the process does NOT ensure that you will be selected to continue to the next stage. To grant the Stations and its licensees the right to use my name, likeness, recorded voice, and biographical material in order to advertise, promote, and publicize the Stations, the audition, the contest, the outcome of the audition or any advertisers, co-sponsors associated with the audition process.
