2 CITY-WIDE SPRING CLEAN-UP ON SATURDAY, APRIL 8 Stafford MSD would like to encourage you to participate in the annual Stafford City-Wide Clean-Up on Saturday, April 8. It begins at 8 a.m. If you re interested in participating, contact Marcia Fouts with the City of Stafford at mfouts@staffordtx.gov. STAFFORD EXCELS AT UIL DISTRICT COMPETITION Several Stafford High UIL Academic Competitors advanced to the UIL Regional Academic Championships, which will be held on Saturday, April 8 in Corpus Christi. They finished in the Top 6 at the UIL District Academic Meet last Saturday in Wharton. Stafford qualified teams in Science and Number Sense, and as alternates in Spelling and Vocabulary. The results are here:

3 Peter Gao - 1st in Number Sense, 1 st in Science, 3 rd in Mathematics Gerald May 2 nd in News Writing Dung Trinh 3 rd in Science, 4 th in Number Sense, 6 th in Computer Science Flore Abrego - 3rd in Current Issues Cierra Alanis - 5th in Feature Writing Vy Dinh - 5th Spelling & Vocabulary Jason Luong- 6th in Number Sense BOYS SOCCER PLAYOFFS TONIGHT VS NAVASOTA AT WALLER The Stafford High Boys Soccer Team, Co-District Champions, will look to continue their successful ways when they play Navasota in the UIL Area Playoffs (Second Round) at 7 p.m. tonight (Friday, March 31) at Waller ISD Stadium, Fields Store Road in Waller, TX The Spartans defeated Navasota, 3-0, during a Tournament in Brenham in January. The winner of tonight s game will face Bellville or Booker T. Washington in the Regional Quarterfinals next week. Dimas Medina scored three goals in the Spartans 4-1 first round victory at West Columbia. Waller is located approximately an hour northwest of Stafford. Follow the link for directions:

During the game, Coach Mesa s son, Leandro, threw out the Ceremonial First Pitch. The pregame ceremonies also included a speech from representatives from Mission4Mike, a non-profit started in Mesa s honor. Here is a link to the story: EASTER EGG HUNT ON THURSDAY

5 Stafford High s National Honor Society will host an Easter Egg Hunt for Stafford Primary School students (Pre-K through First Grade) from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 6 at the playground next to the Stafford MSD Operations Building. BUSINESSES, COMMUNITY INVITED TO DRONES & SCONES ON FRIDAY, APRIL 28

6 Stafford MSD is hosting Drones & Scones from 8-9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 28 to introduce local businesses and residents to the advances that the District has made in Technology over the past few years. We will highlight our Drones as well as Robotics. We will serve breakfast before the event, courtesy of the Stafford Culinary Arts Department. Please RSVP to Michael Sudhalter or Cherise Roberts if you re interested in attending. STAFFORD ELEMENTARY PARTICIPATES IN FIRST TEE Stafford Elementary School Physical Education Teacher Carl Jones and some of his students participated in the First Tee Tournament. First Tee is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching children life lessons through the Game of Golf. Briana Hinojosa and Samuel Beltran participated with enthusiasm and great heart. School Board Member Manuel Hinojosa also attended the event. Stafford s golfers were part of a composite of schools competing against other composite teams. We finished 4 th out of 9 teams on our course.

7 Hinojosa was the top girl competitor on our team and was in the Top 5 for the individual overall competition. STAFFORD TENNIS WINS HOME MATCH, PREPS FOR DISTRICT TOURNAMENT IN BELLVILLE The Stafford High Tennis Team defeated Brazosport Christian on Thursday in the second of two home matches this season. The Spartans will head to Bellville on Wednesday for the District Tournament. Trevino, a Stafford resident, has worked for the District since August She was honored and surprised to receive this accolade. 10 Stafford Primary School celebrated its annual Spring Fling Carnival on Thursday night. The event was full of fun, games and more. We were fortunate to have SMSD Board Secretary Xavier Herrera in attendance.track ATHLETES QUALIFY FOR TEXAS RELAYS Several members of the Stafford High Defending Class 4A State Championship Track & Field Team qualified for the prestigious Texas Relays, which are taking place this weekend on the University of Texas Campus.
