1 January TDEA Ms. Barth will be this convention w/ the Colonel! :5AM-1st 9 TDEA 10 TDEA M L King Day 2:30-: :5AM-1st HOPSON :30-: TEAM Rehearsal 9-3:30 PM Morning rehearsals: Why do we have morning rehearsals??? Ms. Barth would love to not have to wake up early and run rehearsal; however, without an assistant director, Ms. Barth can only run one rehearsal at a time; sometimes you ll share rehearsal time with Stars but that s not until a bit closer to contest. Leading up to contests, you need undivided attention for rehearsals. Arrange your rides now before you forget to and then MISS a rehearsal. If you miss a rehearsal, you will be placed on probation from that particular dance we are working on that morning. Please arrive to school DRESSED OUT! Bring your outfit for the day with you to change into once we are done rehearsing. We need to begin warming up/stretching at 6:5AM. In JAN, we only have 2 Wednesdays but in FEB as we get closer to the big team contests, we add on Tuesday mornings as well. On days there is no extra morning rehearsal, we are still working in 1st. FBDC: Fort Bend Dance Classic!! This is an all day in-district competition, held at Hopson Field House (neighboring Hall HHS). The Stars will be out all day as they are bringing officer routines, team ensembles and solos. Since JV is only allowed to bring one team dance (determined by FBISD) your performance block will take place after regular school hours. In previous years, call time has been 3:30 with performances beginning around :30. Carpooling to the contest at will be the most efficient way to ensure you all arrive safely and on time. Please coordinate amongst each other which moms can assist with this. Sat. rehearsal on 1/31: We will begin in the dance room & then move to the gym once it s available after lunch (when BB finishes). Lunch will be from 12:00-12:30 if any moms would like to drop food off.

Call :00-5:00 21 CONTEST Morton Ranch CONTEST 6:00-8:00 Katy Taylor HS Contest Sneak Peek on 2/12: Come check out your daughter s routines before contest! It begins at 7:30 PM, in the Girl s Gym & will last approximately 1 hour. Call time is set for 5:00 PM so that each team may run forms for all dances before the showcase begins and then get ready in the girl s locker room for their first dance. All JV team dances will be performed as will all Stars team and officer dances. President s Day & 2/17-2/18: Depending on what the district has planned for teachers on President s Day (student holiday), we may have time for a few hours of rehearsal (either 10:00AM-1PM or 3:00-6PM) the week of contest. On MLK Day, I have rehearsal scheduled with Stars and so I wanted a day where I could work with y all without having to use another Saturday however, the district may have specific things I need to do vs simply time in my classroom to do what I need on this day. IF we cannot schedule time on President s Day, we will simply stick with our morning rehearsals on Tues/Wed s but if we do have rehearsal on President s Day, we won t have it again until Friday. Contest Days: Once we are closer to contests, I will let you know call times, performance times, etc. Contest companies typically don t send out schedules until the WEEK OF ---- yikes! It makes it a bit more difficult to plan ahead if you re trying to share your time with studio contests and school contests. Your understanding with this is appreciated greatly.

3 March BREAK What are we doing in March??: During the month of March, you will work on Spring Show preparations during class. Spring Show is an opportunity for you to showcase all team contest dances as well as potentially YOUR own choreography!! I will allow those dancers who have exhibited: outstanding technique, performance qualities and shown vast improvements over the contest season a chance to be a part of student ensembles. Selecting which ensemble you ll perform in will be done in two different ways. The first by blindly pulling numbers and matching up with others. THEN you will have a chance to be in a second ensemble of your choice if you would like to do an additional dance. You will get to select which dancers you d like to share the stage with along with music & costumes too! FB Dance Night: Wheeler...begins at 7:00 PM ---- but at the time of creating this calendar, the date has still not been set by FBISD. Please keep an eye out for updates to the calendar --- it typically takes place in March. All FBISD Varsity Dance Teams perform 2 team routines --- a nice way to see dance teams from around the district all in one place! Twinkles are not performing at this event; however, it is strongly encouraged to attend as it gives them a chance to see other dance teams and what to expect next year on Stars!

4 5 April 2015 Easter 6 7 2:30-: :30-:00 Good Friday Ms. Barth will be in DISNEY! SS THIS WK! 2:30-:30 28 TECH 1st half 2:30-5:00 29 Tech 2nd half 2:30-5:00 30 FULL SHOW Dress Rehearsal 2:30-5:30 /7 & /1: You will be learning the dance you re performing with Stars on stage at Spring Show. The 7th will be when you learn the choreography & the 1th is when we will clean it. While I am away in Disney with Stars, you will be responsible for continuing to work on choreography from your ensembles as well as this dance. If you are not in any Spring Show ensembles, please focus all your time on the Stars dance and team dances that you re in. Upon learning this dance with the Stars, the maximum amount of dances you could be performing in for Spring Show will be: 1. Team Modern 2. Team Contemporary 3. Advanced Jazz Ensemble. Ensemble #1 5. Ensemble #2 6. Stars & Twinkles Dance ***The minimum amount of dances you will be in if you are not selected for the advanced contest jazz ensemble or Spring Show ensembles will be three.*** SHOW DETAILS in next month s information section.

5 May :30-:30 6 2:30-: JV Audition **tell younger friends!!** 7 2:30-:30 1 SHOW 8 3:30 2 SHOW Memorial Day Stars NEW team booster mtg. 6:30PM Spring Show in general : This is quite possibly the most hectic week for your daughter. My goal each year is to schedule Spring Show when little to no end of year/ap tests are taking place while also not conflicting with Mother s Day weekend. The past few years, I ve been able to do so! Reacquaint yourself with the Twinkles Constitution so that you & your daughter are fully aware of the consequences with performing in Spring Show in relation to rehearsal absences, passing all classes, etc. Similar to Cuties we will need all hands on deck when it comes to parent volunteers! This is our second HUGE fundraiser & it is (in my opinion) the most fun! It s the end of the year, so with the senior parents graduating, its best that Junior, Sophomore and Twinkles parents pitch in we ll be here next year without these senior parents telling us what to do! Stars : Tuesday through Thursday of this week, the Stars candidates will be learning choreography. Tues & Wed will be used for learning & rehearsing the choreography. Thurs will be a mock audition day. The candidates will be given their audition number, find their group members for audition and be able to go through the audition process to get a feel for what to expect on Friday.
