1 Good afternoon! This web site will allow you to keep up with what s going on at Palmetto. Each week Palmetto Middle School is going to post a weekly update on this page. Breakfast will be served at 8:15am and the program begins at 9am in the gym. Hey Mustangs! We need your help to make our Veteran's Day Program on November 11th extra special for the veterans in our Palmetto Family and community. This year we are doing a collection of videos from veterans talking about their experiences in service. Please create a short (30 seconds

2 or less) video of any family members or friends that are veterans including their: Name, Branch of Service, and Rank Years of Service Location of Service And any other information your video(s) to Mr. Guthrie These will be shown during the assembly. She scored a total of 146 out of 150 points while presenting her topic: "Should students on sports teams be required to carry a certain GPA in order to play?" Nice job EB! 13 On November 11th, the 8th grade band will have a performance for Veteran's Day. This is a performance that is during school hours. It will start at 9:00 in the morning and all parents are welcome to attend. This year, I have required each student to have a Concert Attire. I am asking all students to wear their attire to the Veteran's Day Program. Students will need to wear their Concert Attire to school that morning and they can bring a change of clothes to change into after the performance. Please make sure the students have the following: Gentlemen: Black Shoes & Black Socks Ladies: Black Shoes If you are able to hem the clothing please do so, however, please don't cut the fabric when hemming. The plan is for students to continue using the Concert Attire at the high school level. Some students have already let me know if they don't have anyone lined up to hem. I would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to Mrs. Hamilton for taking the task on and hemming many of the dresses and pants!! This concert will be a grade for the 2nd Nine Weeks. Palmetto Mustang Regiment Update: This past Saturday, the Palmetto Mustang Regiment Participated in the Jaguar Invitational at Forrestview High School in Gastonia, NC. In this competition, the Mustang Regiment competed against 12 groups from both Carolinas. Not only did the Mustang Regiment finish first in their division, but they also swept every competitive category available. In addition to winning our division, the Mustang Regiment brought home the Silver Grand Championship trophy. As these student's director, I cannot be more proud of the work and level of achievement these students have brought to each performance. As you see the band students today, please let them know that you are proud of their work! Below is a list of all the accolades the students brought home this past weekend. Palmetto s Finest Qualifications for the 2 nd Nine Weeks Please Mr. Knight at knightb@anderson1.k12.sc.us if you have any questions. To earn Palmetto's Finest you must meet the following criteria: 1) All grades 80's and above 2) No demerits for the nine week period 3) No more than 2 unexcused absences. 4) Complete community service hours 10 hours of service are required for the first quarter. Students simply record the hours they volunteer, the service they provided, and have the supervisor sign and record their phone number. Guidelines for hours 1. Ten hours of community service is required each nine weeks. 2. No more than four (4) hours of service can be directly related to any family member. 3. Completed service hours are due to your Homeroom teacher
