(WVU Coliseum) 5 p.m. CT (6 p.m. ET) NU GYMNASTS SET FOR NCAA MORGANTOWN REGIONAL The eighth-ranked Nebraska women s gymnastics team will open their 29th consecutive year of postseason competition this weekend, travelling to Morgantown, W.Va. for NCAA Regional competition on Saturday, April 6. No. 2 seed NU will be joined in competition by fifth-ranked and top-seeded Michigan as well as Illinois, Kentucky, West Virginia and North Carolina. The Morgantown Regional will take place at the WVU Coliseum on the University of West Virginia campus and is set for a 5 p.m. CT (6 p.m. ET) start. Fans unable to attend the meet can watch a free live stream of the competition at WVUSports.com or follow live scoring online. West Virginia will run two simultaneous live streams in split-screen format, with one stream showing vault and floor and the other displaying bars and beam. Fans can use either link to watch meet introductions and post-meet awards. Live updates will also be provided on the official Twitter account of the Husker women s gymnastics team (@HuskersWGym). The regional will feature an additional five at-large all-around competitors and one individual event specialist per event. The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors not on an advancing team will automatically advance to the 2013 NCAA Championships in Los Angeles, Calif., on April If an individual event winner is not part of a qualifying team or a qualifying all-arounder, they will also receive a berth in the national championship meet. The Huskers (16-3, 12-2 Big Ten) will enter this weekend s competition on the hunt for the program s 22nd NCAA Championship appearance. NU won their third consecutive conference title last weekend, taking home top honors at the Big Ten Championships in East Lansing, Mich., with a team score of GYMNAST TO WATCH JESSIE DeZIEL SO. ROGERS, MINN. (TWIN CITY TWISTERS) Was the 2012 NCAA Salt Lake City Regional all-around (39.40), vault (9.95) and floor (9.90) champion. Ranked in the nation s top 20 in the all-around and on vault and bars. Earned three All-Big Ten Championship Team honors on March 23 (vault, floor, all-around). HUSKERS TAKE HOME THIRD CONSECUTIVE CONFERENCE TITLE Paced by a program-record on vault and nine titles in four events and the all-around, Nebraska captured the program s third straight conference crown with a at the 2013 Big Ten Women s Gymnastics Championships on March 23. NU s score was a conference championship school record and the highest away meet in school history, giving Head Coach Dan Kendig his 14th conference title at Nebraska. The Huskers crown also marked the first time the program has earned three-straight conference titles since Emily Wong earned her second consecutive Big Ten all-around title, posting the second-highest score at a conference championship meet in school history (39.725). Wong took or tied for top honors on uneven bars (9.925), balance beam (9.90) and floor exercise (9.975) en route to top honors at the meet. Joining Wong at the top of the podium were five additional Huskers. Janelle Giblin, Hollie Blanske, Brittany Skinner and Jessie DeZiel all tied for the title of conference vault champion, posting identical scores of Wong and Jennifer Lauer tied three other conference gymnasts to earn the beam title at The Huskers kicked off the championship meet with a on bars, their highest road score on the event this season. NU was paced by Wong, who earned a meet-best overall that included a perfect 10.0 from one of four judges. Kassandra Nathe added a career-high 9.90 to aid Nebraska. DeZiel picked up a solid mark of 9.875, and Janelle Giblin tacked on a Nebraska displayed great focus and composure on beam in their second rotation, bouncing back from an early fall to capture a on the event. Wong added a 9.925, and Desire Stephens posted a Michigan finished second overall at the meet at , while Minnesota took third at Illinois earned a fourth-place finish with their score of in the afternoon session, while Ohio State came in fifth at BREAKING DOWN THE NCAA MORGANTOWN REGIONAL FIELD Nebraska will head east for postseason competition this weekend in Morgantown, W.Va. The Morgantown Regional field consists of six of the nation s top 35 teams, led by top 10 squads in No. 5 Michigan and the No. 8 Huskers. The Wolverines and NU will be joined by a pair of top 20 teams in No. 17 Illinois and No. 19 Kentucky alongside West Virginia and North Carolina. Michigan enters the Morgantown Regional as the No. 1 overall seed and the fifth-ranked team in the nation. The Wolverines were the Big Ten regular season co-champion and finished second at the conference championship meet with a score of UM junior Joanna Sampson was named the conference Gymnast of the Year and finished third in the all-around (39.575). Three-seed and 17th-ranked Illinois finished third at the 2013 Big Ten Championship meet, posting a seasonhigh team mark of The Fighting Illini were led by junior Amber See and senior Alina Weinstein, who each notched top-three finishes on floor (9.95) to earn spots on the All-Big Ten Championship Team. Weinstein is one of the nation s top 15 all-arounders, holding a national ranking of 11th and an RQS of Seeded fourth overall with a No. 19 national ranking, the Kentucky Wildcats are in their second season of competition under Head Coach and former Nebraska assistant Tim Garrison. Garrison has led a revitalization of the UK program, culminating in a school-record at Penn State on March 16. The Wildcats earned their first All-SEC selections since 2005 this season, with Kayla Hartley and Alexis Gross capturing spots for their performances at the SEC Championship meet. Host team and No. 5 seed West Virginia earned a at the program s first Big 12 Gymnastics Championship, finishing third behind Oklahoma and. Senior all-around performer Kaylyn Millick posted a in the all-around to finish second overall and earn All-Big 12 Championship Team honors. Millick is the Mountaineers highest-ranked gymnast on any event, coming in at 27th nationally in all-around competition with an RQS of The North Carolina Tar Heels will round out the team competition field at the Morgantown Regional. Seeded sixth in the regional, UNC notched a fifth-place finish at the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) championships with a Senior gymnast Elizabeth Durkac was named the co-eagl Gymnast of the Year for the 2013 season; she is the nation s No. 34 all-arounder with an RQS of Joining competitors from the six qualifying teams will be eight individual gymnasts from three schools. New Hampshire will send all-around competitors Austyn Fobe and Kayla Gray alongside vault and floor qualifier Hannah Barile. Rutgers placed five gymnasts in individual competition, including all-arounders Luisa Leal and Alexis Gunzelman, bars specialist Jenna Williams and beam competitor Claudia Salinas. Pennsylvania qualified lone all-around competitor Kirsten Strausbaugh. UP NEXT FOR NEBRASKA This weekend s performance will dictate whether the Huskers qualify for their fourth-consecutive NCAA Championship and their 22nd in program history. The top two finishers from each of the six regional sites around the country will advance to the 2013 NCAA Championships in Los Angeles, Calif. Hosted by UCLA at Pauley Pavilion, the national championships will feature competition between the 12 best gymnastics team in the nation on April The event will kick off on Friday, April 19 with team preliminaries. Preliminary competition will be split between two sessions, with the first beginning at 2 p.m. CT (Noon PT) and the second taking place at 8 p.m. CT (6 p.m. PT). The top three finishers in each session will advance the Super Six team finals on Saturday, April 20 at 6 p.m. CT (4 p.m. PT) to vie for the 2013 national title. Individual NCAA event champions will be crowned in event finals on Sunday, April 21 beginning at 3 p.m. CT (1 p.m. PT). HUSKERS RISE TO NO. 8 AFTER SEASON-HIGH PERFORMANCE Nebraska s season-best performance of at the 2013 Big Ten Championship meet boosted NU to No. 8 nationally for the week of March 25. The Huskers RQS jumped to overall, up from last week. 4 also boasts a trio of top five national rankings, including a high appearance of No. 5 on beam (49.225). The team added rankings of sixth on bars (49.335), a tie for sixth on vault (49.420) and a tie for 10th on floor (49.280). Five Husker individuals also wrapped up 11 total appearances in the top 25 rankings. For the first time this season, junior Emily Wong pulled down top 25 rankings on all four events and in the all-around. The No. 4 all-around competitor in the nation with an RQS of , Wong is also seventh on bars (9.920) and tied for seventh on floor (9.925) and eighth on beam (9.900). She made her first appearance this season in the vault rankings, coming in a tie for 17th on the event (9.910). Jessie DeZiel earned three individual appearances this week. DeZiel posted her fourth consecutive 9.95 on vault last weekend to climb to seventh in the country (9.930). She is also eighth in the all-around (39.525) and tied for 18th on bars (9.895). Janelle Giblin, Jennifer Lauer and Brittany Skinner all pulled down appearances in the top 25 this week as well. Giblin is 12th nationally on bars (9.905), while Lauer is tied for 22nd on beam (9.880). Skinner rounded out the listing of ranked Huskers, tying for 17th on vault (9.910). LOOKING BACK: 2012 NCAA SALT LAKE CITY REGIONAL The 2012 Nebraska squad posted a team score to finish in second place at the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional, hosted by the University of Utah. Utah took the top spot by scoring a overall, while Minnesota took third at NU was led by DeZiel, who took home the all-around crown and a pair of event titles on vault (9.95) and floor (9.90). The Rogers, Minn., native scored a in the all-around and was trailed by Janelle Giblin, who finished in second with a DeZiel is the first Husker to win a regional all-around title since Emily Parsons in Emily Wong also took home hardware on the night, winning the beam title with a The Huskers started on bars, where they were led by a pair of strong performances from Giblin and Lora Evenstad in the fourth and fifth spots respectively. Busacker, who was filling in for an injured Jamie Schleppenbach, was competing in only her third meet on the beam. After each team had completed two events, the Huskers sat in second place behind Utah heading into their third event on the floor. DeZiel and Evenstad continued to anchor the event with two strong performances. DeZiel posted a meet-high 9.90, while Evenstad closed with a 9.85 to give NU their Skinner posted a 9.85 and Giblin tallied a 9.825, while Lauer kicked the event off with a The Huskers clinched their second-place finish by posting a on vault. Both Skinner and Giblin matched Lauer s score of 9.85, while Evenstad posted a DeZiel stole the show in NU s final spot by tying her career-high score of HUSKER NCAA REGIONAL HISTORY This weekend s regional competition marks Nebraska s 29th consecutive postseason appearance, dating back to The Huskers own five total regional championships, with the last coming in In addition, Nebraska has finished inside the top two at regional competition in 12 of the past 14 seasons. FIVE HUSKERS EARN ALL-BIG TEN HONORS Nebraska placed five gymnasts on the 2013 Big Ten All-Conference teams, the league office announced on March 18. Jessie DeZiel, Janelle Giblin, Jennifer Lauer and Emily Wong earned first-team All-Big Ten honors for their performances throughout the season, while Brittany Skinner picked up NU s lone second-team award. All-Big Ten honorees were chosen based on a new selection process this season. The top ten student-athletes were allotted points based on their Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) standing, with 10 points given to the No. 1 ranked athlete and one point given to the No. 10-ranked athlete. All points from each event and in the allaround were then combined, with ties given the same number of points. The student-athletes with the 12 highest point totals were named to the first team, while the next 12 captured second-team accolades. 2013: REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS The Huskers have been rewriting the storied Nebraska record books across the board this season, culminating in the best road score in school history last weekend at the Big Ten Championships ( ). NU has also seen a flurry of top 10 all-time efforts this season from individuals and the team as a whole. As of this week, the Huskers have earned three of the program s top 10 team scores all-time in a single season: (fourth), (sixth) and (tie-ninth). The 2013 team is the first Nebraska squad to log more than two of the program s top 10 scores in a single season since the 2003 Huskers posted five. In addition, Nebraska broke the program s 10-year-old vault record this season, earning a at the conference championship meet. That score bested the previous program-best of , set by the 2003 squad against Oklahoma. 5 March 16. Several Husker individuals have also etched their name in the Husker record books this season, led by Janelle Giblin, Jennifer Lauer and Emily Wong. Giblin tied a standing record of 12 years this season when she posted only the second 10.0 on uneven bars in school history at Iowa. Giblin s perfect score tied Bree Dority O Callaghan s 10.0 on the event at the 2001 Big 12 Championships. Lauer is tied for eighth in the Husker record books on beam after scoring an impressive 9.95 in Nebraska s season-opener against Michigan. Her score marked the Huskers highest on the event since Tricia Woo s identical 9.95 in Wong has done her own part this season, earning a spot in the top 10 on multiple events. Her career-high in the all-around at the Big Ten Championships gave her the seventh-best score in school history. She also became the first Husker to break the mark in all-around competition since Richelle Simpson and Tami Harris in Wong s career-best on floor exercise at the conference championship meet also tied her for fifth all-time on the event and gave her the highest floor score by a Husker since Emily Parsons in The Huskers made their mark in the Big Ten Championship record books this season as well. NU s nine individual conference champions or co-champions is the most in a single season in Big Ten history, besting Michigan s 8 in Additionally, Emily Wong s four individual titles at the championship meet ties five other gymnasts for the most titles in a single season. Her seven career Big Ten titles is tied for third-most all time. A back-to-back conference all-around champion, Wong is the first in the Big Ten to achieve that feat since Penn State s Brandi Personett in EMILY WONG: ALL-AROUND OUTSTANDING Emily Wong has set herself apart as one of the finest all-around competitors in the nation throughout Heading into NCAA Regional competition, Wong is ranked No. 4 nationally in the all-around with an RQS of and boasts top 20 rankings on every event. She has captured 23 event titles this season, including a team-high seven in the all-around. Wong s consistent excellence was on full display at the 2013 Big Ten Championship meet, where the junior took home her second consecutive conference all-around title with a career-high That score was the second-highest in Nebraska s conference championship history and included individual Big Ten titles on bars (9.925), beam (9.90) and floor (9.975). Wong added four All-Big Ten Championship Team selections to give her eight over the past two seasons alone. DEZIEL DAZZLES ON VAULT Jessie DeZiel has hit her stride as the anchor of NU s vaulting lineup during the month of March. After entering the month ranked in a tie for 92nd on the event, DeZiel has posted four consecutive scores of 9.95 to rise to No. 7 nationally with an RQS of She has earned or tied for four event titles during that time, including a share of the 2013 Big Ten vault title at the conference championship meet. STEADY LAUER LEADS HUSKERS ON BEAM One of Nebraska s anchoring routines in the beam lineup, Jennifer Lauer has stepped up to become a consistent threat for the team this season. Lauer has earned a team-high five titles on the event this season, including a share of the Big Ten beam title last weekend. Lauer captured a 9.90 on the event to tie with four other gymnasts for top honors on the event. She has posted scores of 9.85 or better in nine meets this season and is tied for 22nd nationally on the event with an RQS of VICTORIOUS VAULTERS Assistant Coach Dan Miller has elevated Nebraska s vaulting corps into one of the team s top scoring threats this season. After a slow start at the beginning of 2013, the Huskers have logged the nation s top two scores on the event in the last month. NU has risen to a tie for No. 6 nationally on the event, boasting an RQS of After posting two of their top efforts of the season against Iowa (49.400) on March 4 and at Minnesota (49.375) on March 9, Nebraska blew both of those efforts out of the water in their regular season finale at Cal. Five Huskers posted scores of 9.90 or better as the team earned the No. 4 vault score in school history at NU followed up in championship fashion the next week with a program-record at the Big Ten Championships. KENDIG CLIMBS ALL-TIME COACHING WINS LIST Nebraska Head Coach Dan Kendig has continued to climb Nebraska s list of all-time coaching wins leaders in 2013, logging 15 victories to hold 469 in 20 seasons. That total is good for fourth all-time across all sports in Husker history and is likely to increase following this weekend s NCAA Regional action in Morgantown. SIX ALL-AMERICANS POISED TO LEAD HUSKERS IN 2013 NU s efforts this season have been anchored by its six returning All-Americans, including three honorees that captured eight awards last season. Jessie DeZiel, Janelle Giblin and Emily Wong headline a group that has won 16 awards since 2010 and also includes seniors Kassandra Nathe and Brittany Skinner and junior Jamie Schleppenbach. Nebraska has relied on sustained success from its vaulting corps, fielding four previous All-Americans. The group is led by 2012 first-team All-American Giblin and second-team honoree DeZiel alongside previous firstteamers Schleppenbach and Skinner. The Huskers also welcomed back three previous All-Americans in both all-around competition and on uneven bars. Notably returning to the competition floor on bars this season was 2010 second-team All-American Nathe, who has missed the past two seasons due to injury. Nebraska returns two All-Americans on floor and beam as well. KENDIG ARCHITECT OF ONE OF NATION S TOP PROGRAMS Now in his 20th year at the helm of the Nebraska gymnastics program, Head Coach Dan Kendig is the all-time winningest coach in Nebraska history. Kendig holds a record overall and a regular season mark. An eight-time conference coach of the year selection, Kendig most recently earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors last season after guiding the 2012 Huskers to the program s 22nd conference title. He guided the 2013 Huskers as they repeated the feat in 2013, capturing a conference championship for the third consecutive season. Kendig has also led the Huskers to 15 NCAA Championship appearances in the past 18 season, including NCAA Super Six Finals appearances in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and Kendig was honored as the NCAA Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2003, a year in which the Huskers finished fourth nationally. He guided the 2012 Huskers to a 24-7 record overall, including an eighth-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Championships in Duluth, Ga. The performance marked Nebraska s 28th consecutive NCAA post season appearance, while three of Kendig s gymnasts--jessie DeZiel (FX, AA, V), Janelle Giblin (V, UB) and Emily Wong (BB, FX, AA)--earned All-America honors. NU ASSISTANTS BOOST HUSKER EFFORTS IN 2013 Joining Kendig in his leadership of the Huskers this season are second-year assistant coaches Heather Brink and Dan Miller. Brink continues her role in the gym as the team s beam coach while assisting with floor choreography. Brink has boosted Nebraska to a No. 5 national ranking on the event while guiding Jennifer Lauer and Emily Wong to a combined nine titles. Her leadership was instrumental in coaching Lauer and Wong to shares of the Big Ten title on the event. In her first season as an assistant with the Huskers, Brink helped coach Emily Wong to first-team All-America honors on beam. Brink s assistance with NU s floor routines also guided Jessie DeZiel to first-team All-America honors and Wong to second-team honors on the event. Miller continues to lead NU s efforts on vault and floor in Miller s gymnasts have snagged 17 titles on vault and 10 on floor this season. He has also coached the Huskers vaulting corps to the nation s two highest scores on the event this season, including a school-record at the Big Ten Championship. During his first season at Nebraska in 2012, Miller guided DeZiel to first-team All-America honors on floor and second-team honors on vault. He also assisted in the development of Janelle Giblin, who earned first-team honors on vault, and Wong, who picked up second-team honors on floor. The gymnasts under Miller s tutelage in 2012 garnered a total of 15 floor titles and 14 vault titles throughout the season. Volunteer assistant coach Owen Field, now in his third season in that position, aids NU s full-time staff in Field assists head coach Dan Kendig on the uneven bars while also working with the Huskers strength and conditioning program. HUSKERS SIGN TWO FOR 2014 The Huskers announced the addition of a pair of multi-talented recruits for 2014 in November. Dan Kendig and the Big Red will welcome Ashley Lambert and Jennie Laeng next year, rounding out the Husker roster and giving the Huskers increased depth and new skills in their lineup. A native of Virginia, Lambert is a level ten gymnast that has trained at World Class Gymnastics under coaches Tami Harrison and Troy Miller. Lambert is a four-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier. She earned the allaround title at the 2013 Level 10 Virginia State Championships this month, including gold medals on vault and bars. In 2012, she notched a fifth-place finish in all-around competition and a second-place finish on floor at Regionals. Lambert also picked up a third-place finish in all-around at the Regional level in 2011 that included first-place finishes on vault and floor. A level ten gymnast from Ohio, Laeng trains at Olympic Dreams Gymnastics and has qualified for both Junior Olympic Nationals and the Junior Olympic National Invitational Tournament. In 2011, Laeng finished first in allaround and beam competition at the Junior Olympic National Invitational. She added a fifth-place finish on bars and seventh on beam at the 2012 Junior Olympic National Championship. Beck joined the Huskers after training with McCrackens Gymnastics under coaches Mary McDaniel, Amber McCracken and Sarah Haase. She was a three-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier, finishing in a tie for sixth on bars in 2011 and third on bars and eighth in the all-around in Beck also qualified for Junior Olympic Nationals in 2011 after finishing second on beam at the Region III qualifying meet and adding a fourth-place finish on bars. An international elite level gymnast, Beck won a total of 15 state event and all-around titles in Kansas. She chose Nebraska over Arkansas, Washington, Missouri and Kentucky. Beck was born June 12, 1994 in Overland Park, Kan. She is the daughter of Kevin and Dawn Beck and has a brother, Austin and a sister, Mackenzi. Beck was a four year honor roll member at Blue Valley West in Overland Park and was also a National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society member. She is a nutrition science major at Nebraska. FRESHMAN SEASON Hollie Blanske has bounced back from a knee injury last year become a solid three-event competitor for the Huskers in her first season. Appearing on vault, bars and floor for NU, Blanske has logged seasonhigh scores of 9.85 or better on each. She made a splash on her first career performance on floor in late January, posting a 9.90 the take the event title against Michigan State. Blanske has come on strong late in the season for Nebraska, posting or tying career-bests on all three events during the month of March. She was a crucial part of Nebraska s Big Ten Championship-winning efforts on March 23, finishing in a tie for sixth on floor (9.90) and earning co-big Ten Champion honors on vault (9.95). Blanske also earned her first career All-Big Ten Championship Team award for her vaulting performance. Blanske came to Nebraska after competing under coaches Mike Hunger, Sami Wozney, Sarah Jantzi and Rich Stenger at Twin City Twisters alongside fellow Husker Jessie DeZiel. Blanske was a four-time Junior Olympic National qualifier and a Junior Olympic National Team Member in 2010 and She was a 2011 Junior Olympic National all-around champion, posting a score of She was also a national champion on bars (9.625) and floor (9.775) in Blanske captured three regional titles at Twin City and was the 2011 Region IV Co-Regional Gymnast of the Year. Blanske is the daughter of Jim and Michelle Blanske and was born April 1, She has two brothers, Brent and Bo and one sister, Jamie. DeZiel earned or shared Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors twice this season, giving her 13 career weekly honors overall. She also took home first-team All-Big Ten honors and academic all-conference laurels this season. DeZiel was the 2013 Big Ten Runner-Up in the all-around (39.625), tying for second place on floor (9.95) and first on vault (9.95). She took home three All-Big Ten Championship Team honors at the championship meet (V, FX, AA) as she anchored Nebraska s efforts on floor and vault and boosted the Big Red to their third straight conference title. HUSKER CAREER In her freshman season at Nebraska, DeZiel captured three All-America honors and was named the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional all-around champion to help lead the Huskers. DeZiel capped off her year at the NCAA Championships in Duluth, Ga., where she became a first-team All-American on the floor and all-around, while earning second-team All-America honors on vault. DeZiel advanced to the NCAA event finals on floor, scoring a 9.90 to finish in sixth. DeZiel was a dominant force within the Big Ten Conference, winning a league-high 11 Big Ten individual weekly awards and taking home the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year award. At the Big Ten Conference meet, DeZiel was the Big Ten Floor Champion and finished in second in the all-around to earn spot on the All-Big Ten Championship team on each event. At regionals, DeZiel was the all-around, vault and floor champion. She was named the 2012 Nebraska Newcomer of the Year and finished with a team-high 16 individual titles throughout the season alongside seven all-around crowns. DeZiel competed for Mike Hunger at Twin City Twisters in Champlin, Minn. DeZiel, an elite level gymnast, arrived at Nebraska after representing the United States at the 2011 Pan American Games where she helped the U.S. team capture gold, and posted the team s highest scores on vault (15.125), beam (13.275) and floor exercise (13.150), with her vault score being the highest in the entire competition. DeZiel was also a two-time Junior Olympic all-around champion (2010, 2011), and a five-time JO qualifier. She finished 17th at the Visa Nationals in DeZiel was born on August 12, 1993, in Crystal, Minn. She is the daughter of Craig and Jean DeZiel and has one sister, Brittany. An honor roll student at Spectrum High School for four years, DeZiel has not yet decided a major at Nebraska. SENIOR SEASON Janelle Giblin has served as an important anchor for the Huskers in her senior season, taking the floor as a three-event specialist and NU s top performer on bars. She has posted a 9.85 or higher on the event seven times this season, including Nebraska s first 10.0 on bars since 2001 on Senior Night against Iowa. A 2013 first-team All-Big Ten selection, Giblin has captured six total event titles this season, including four on bars. She has also been named the Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week three times this season. Giblin turned in a rock-solid performance at the 2013 Big Ten Championship meet that included a share of the Big Ten vault title. Her 9.95 leadoff routine tied her career-high on the event and powered the Huskers to a school-record closing rotation. She earned Big Ten Championship Team honors for her efforts. HUSKER CAREER A five-time All-American at Nebraska, Giblin has been one of the Huskers top competitors throughout her career. The San Ramon, Calif., native has earned first-team All-America honors on vault twice (2011, 2012) and is also a two-time second-team All-American on bars (2010, 2012) and a second-teamer in the all-around (2011). She has in raked multiple conference awards for NU as a three-time all-conference selection (2013, 2012, 2011) and all-conference championship team honoree (2013, 2012, 2011). Giblin has also placed in the top six nationally on vault twice at the NCAA Championships. In addition to her work in the gym, Giblin has been a standout performer in classroom for Nebraska. A NACGC/W Scholastic All-American in 2011, Giblin has earned academic all-conference honors twice (2011, 2012) and is a four-time Big 12 Commissioner s Honor Roll selection. Giblin competed for coaches Justin Howell and Liz Crandall at Airborne Gymnastics in Santa Clara, Calif. A Level 10 gymnast, she was the 2008 Level 10 state bars, beam, floor and all-around champion. She also took the 2008 regional Level 10 bars, beam, floor and all-around crowns. Giblin was a Level 10 National Qualifier in 2008, and the 2007 state vault champion. She also earned the 2007 regional bars crown. A 2009 graduate of California High School, she carried a 4.0 all four years of high school. She made one appearance in exhibition on bars for the Huskers at the Masters Classic, earning a Hawkins also took home her first Academic All-Big Ten honor for the Big Red. HUSKER CAREER Hawkins took a redshirt in her first season at Nebraska. She was a strong performer for NU in the classroom, earning NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors following the 2012 season. Hawkins arrived at NU following a successful gymnastics career at Southeastern Gymnastics under coaches Ludmilla Shobe, Galina Meliakina and Nikolai Cherchen. A four-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier, Hawkins placed fourth on floor at the 2010 JO National Championships. In 2009, she placed third on vault, ninth on floor and 19th in the all-around at the JO National Championships. She took sixth in the all-around in Hawkins graduated from Providence High School in She was a member of French club and was on the honor roll, posting a 4.0 GPA through her first three years. Kailyn is the daughter of Jim and Leslie Hawkins and was born December 13, 1992 in Charlotte, N.C. She has three sisters: Natalie, Megan, and Leah. Hawkins is an advertising and public relations major at Nebraska. SOPHOMORE SEASON Amanda Lauer has provided necessary depth to the Husker roster this season. The sophomore has also seen exhibition competition several times this season on beam, posting a high score of against Illinois on Feb. 1. Lauer earned her first career Academic All-Big Ten award this spring at Nebraska. HUSKER CAREER Lauer worked to increase her skill set and adjust to the competition level of collegiate gymnastics in her first year at Nebraska. She was recognized for her work in the classroom following the 2012 season, earning NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors. Lauer competed for coaches Mike Durante and Stephanie Kelly at Premiere Gymnastics in Omaha, Neb. Lauer was a Junior Olympic National Qualifier for two consecutive years (2009, 2010) and placed sixth on beam in Lauer was the 2010 Regional beam champion and placed second in the all-around. In addition, she was named the Nebraska beam champion at the state meet in 2010 and 2011, and the bars champion in Lauer placed fourth among Level 10 gymnasts at the 2011 Derby Classic, where she posted a all-around score. Lauer was born on March 30, 1993, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Lauer is the daughter of Dan and Kim Lauer, and has a twin sister, Jen, who is also on the team. Lauer was a 4.0 student at Sioux City East High School and was also part of the National Honor Society. Lauer is majoring in nutrition science at Nebraska. 10

Lauer opened her 2013 campaign with a splash at Michigan, posting the nation s top beam score with a 9.95 on Jan. 12. Since that point she has not let up, posting nine routines of 9.85 or higher while capturing a team-best five titles on the event this season. She enters NCAA Regional competition tied for 22nd nationally on the event. Lauer put in another stellar performance on beam at the Big Ten Championships, earning a share of the conference title with her 9.90 performance. Already a first-team All-Big Ten selection, she also took home All-Big Ten Championship Team honors for her efforts at the meet. Lauer captured her first career Academic All-Big Ten award in the week following the conference championships. HUSKER CAREER Lauer provided Nebraska with solid depth on three events throughout her freshman campaign, seeing action on vault, beam and floor. Lauer s consistency enabled her to be called up to compete for the Huskers at the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional on vault (9.850), beam (9.800) and floor (9.725). She also competed in her first NCAA Semifinal for the Big Red on March 20, finishing with a score of on beam. Lauer also had a strong first season with the Huskers in the classroom, earning individual NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors. FRESHMAN SEASON A powerful performer on floor and vault, Ariel Martin has sat out this season due to injury. She will join the Huskers in the gym in 2013, providing depth and several strong routines to the Husker lineup. Martin joined the Huskers after training at the Illinois Gymnastics Institute under Todd Gardiner. Martin was a key member of IGI s two state championship teams in 2009 and 2011, but also achieved a great deal as an individual. She had an excellent showing at the 2011 Region V Championships, finishing first in the all-around in the Senior B division, scoring a Martin snagged first-place finishes on vault, beam and floor en route to victory. A competitor at the 2010 Junior Olympic Championships, Martin finished third in the Junior D division all-around with a score of Her third-place finish included second on vault and fourth on floor. The daughter of Glenn and Rosalind Martin, Ariel was born March 9, 1994 in Chicago, Ill. She has one brother, Glenn Martin, Jr. Ariel has not yet declared a major at Nebraska. She chose Nebraska over Ohio State. Lauer competed for coaches Mike Durante and Stephanie Kelly at Premiere Gymnastics in Omaha, Neb. Lauer was a four-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier and finished 29th at the 2011 JO meet. In the 2011 Region IV meet, Lauer finished fourth (37.175) in the all-around and posted the best vault (9.6) and bars (9.4) scores. Lauer was the 2010 Nebraska bars, floor and all-around state champion. At the 2010 JO National Championships, Lauer placed fifth on bars and took 21st on beam. At 2010 Regionals she took fourth in the all-around. In 2009, she won the all-around and bars titles at the Regional Championships. Jennifer Lauer was born on March 30, 1993, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Lauer is the daughter of Dan and Kim Lauer, and has a twin sister, Amanda, who is also on the team. Lauer is majoring in nutrition science at Nebraska. 11

McConkey will contribute valuable depth to the Huskers when she joins the lineup next season. McConkey trained alongside teammate Jamie Schleppenbach at the Nebraska School of Gymnastics under Tim and Rachel Garrison. A three-time Junior Olympic National qualifier, McConkey has finished second (2009), fifth (2010) and third (2011) in the Region IV all-around competition. She also competed at the Kansas City Pink Ribbon Invitational in 2011, finishing first on bars (9.575), third on floor (9.550) and fourth on beam (9.45). A Lincoln, Neb. native, McConkey was born Sept. 16, 1994 to Mick and Cookie McConkey. She has a sister, Markie, and a brother, Mickey. She was a 2012 graduate of Pius X High School and has not yet declared a major at Nebraska. SENIOR SEASON Kassandra Nathe has proven herself to be a warrior during her time at Nebraska, fighting back from season-ending injuries in both 2011 and 2012 to rejoin the lineup this season. A steady competitor on two events for the Big Red, Nathe has not missed a meet this season on beam. She took home the beam title against Arizona on Feb. 16, posting a meet-best Nathe has also become one of Nebraska s most consistent competitors on bars and serves as the anchor in NU s lineup. She earned a career-high 9.90 at NU s conference championship meet, earning her a tie for second on the event and All-Big Ten Championship Team honors. She also captured Academic All-Big Ten accolades the following week for her work in the classroom. HUSKER CAREER Nathe provided a spark to the Husker squad in her first two seasons at Nebraska, competiting as an allarounder her freshman season in 2009 and a two-event specialist as a sophomore in She claimed second-team All-America honors on bars at the 2010 NCAA Championships and was a two-time All-Big 12 Championship Team selection in 2009 and The Sartell, Minn., native is one of Nebraska s top achievers in the classroom. She is a three-time NACGC/W Scholastic All-American, a two-time academic all-conference pick and a five-time Big 12 Commissioner s Honor Roll selection. Nathe competed for Coach Mike Hunger at Twin City Twisters. A Level 10 gymnast, she was a four-time Junior Olympic qualifier from 2005 to At the 2008 Junior Olympic National Championships, Nathe tied for 13th on floor and 15th in the all-around, while also taking 19th on beam. Nathe was the 2007 Region IV all-around and beam champion and took first in beam at regionals in In addition, she finished 15th on beam in 2006 and 13th on vault in 2005 at the J.O. A 2008 graduate of Sartell High School, she lettered in cross country and track and was a member of two state championship track teams in 2005 and Nathe chose Nebraska over offers from Iowa State and Utah State. Prior to her injury, Schleppenbach was plugged into the Husker lineup as a two-event specialist early in the season. She contributed solid scores on vault and floor to boost Nebraska s team efforts in five total appearances. The junior captured two vault titles in just four showings on the event, taking home top honors at Michigan in January and against Illinois in early February. She earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in March for her performance in the classroom. HUSKER CAREER One of Nebraska s most consistent workers on vault and floor, Schleppenbach has claimed a spot as a key component to Head Coach Dan Kendig s roster over the past three seasons. She has displayed an ability to hit big routines for the Huskers in clutch situations, posting or tying several of her career-best scores in NCAA team competition or at high-stakes regular season meets. She captured first-team All-America honors on vault in 2011 while helping the Huskers to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Super Six Team Finals her freshman season. Schleppenbach has also found success at the conference level, earning All- Big 12 honors (2011), second-team All-Big Ten accolades (2012) and two all-conference championship team appearances (2011, 2012). Schleppenbach competed for coaches Tim and Rachel Garrison at Nebraska School of Gymnastics in Lincoln. She was the 2005 and 2006 Level 9 Region IV All-Around Champion. She took second in the all-around at the 2009 Level 10 Region IV Championships, while placing fifth in the all-around at the 2010 Region IV Championships. She competed at the Level 10 Junior Olympic National Championships in 2010 and took fourth on vault. A 2010 graduate of Pius X High School, she was a member of the honor roll and was involved in various clubs and volunteer activities. Jamie Schleppenbach was born on March 25, 1992 in Lincoln, Neb. She is the daughter of Gary and Jolene Schleppenbach and has three brothers, Nick, Eric and Jake. Jamie is an advertising and public relations major at Nebraska. SENIOR SEASON After sitting out Nebraska s first two meets of the season, Brittany Skinner eased back into the NU lineup in late January and has now taken the floor as an all-around competitior for the Huskers. She has set herself apart as one of the Huskers top vaulters, capturing four individual titles on the event and a top- 20 national ranking. Her work as a member of NU s vaulting corps earned her a spot on the All-Big Ten second team this season. Skinner saved her finest all-around performance yet for NU s final regular season meet this year at Cal, posting a career-high that included a meet-best 9.90 on beam. She added her first career individual conference title the following week, earning a share of the Big Ten vault title with a careerbest The performance also gave Skinner her second career all-conference championship team selection. HUSKER CAREER Skinner has been a reliable and versatile competitor throughout her Husker career, taking the floor as a three-event specialist and an all-around competitior multiple times. She is a two-time All-American at Nebraska, holding first-team honors on vault (2010) and a second-team award on beam (2011). She has set or matched career-highs on every event in 2012 and 2013 and has competed at the NCAA Championships three times for the Huskers. Skinner was also an All-Big 12 Championship Team selection in 2011 on bars, earning second place overall on the event. Skinner competed for coaches Justin Howell and Liz Crandall at Airborne Gymnastics along with fellow Husker Janelle Giblin. She was a three-time Level 10 national qualifier and four-time Level 10 regional qualifier. In 2009, she made the NorCal State Team while taking second on bars and placing third in the all-around at the state meet. She was also the 2009 Regional vault and all-around champion, while taking second on beam. Skinner was the 2008 state bars, floor and all-around champion as a member of the NorCal State Team. Skinner finished first on floor at the 2008 Level 10 regional competition. A 2009 graduate of Los Altos High School, she was also a member of the dance team in high school. Skinner chose Nebraska over Oklahoma, Arizona, Washington and Denver. Brittany Skinner was born Dec. 21, 1990 in Camp Pendleton, Calif. She is the daughter of Greg and Stacia Skinner and has one brother, Grant. Brittany is a psychology major at Nebraska. 13

A talented and powerful performer, she has hit career-high marks of 9.85 on both events in the last month while helping NU to their highest team scores of the season. Stephens also captured her first career Academic All-Big Ten honor this March. HUSKER CAREER Stephens saw limited action during her freshman season with the Huskers, primarily contributing depth on vault. She posted a on vault in her Nebraska debut at Minnesota on Feb. 18, helping the Huskers to a team score of and a win over the Golden Gophers. Stephens competed for Nebraska Gold Gymnastics in Omaha, performing under the coaching of Barb Bottieri, Andi Molina and Don Houlton. She was the 2011 all-around and vault state champion and took second in bars, beam and floor. Stephens finished fifth in the all-around at the 2011 Region IV meet, while tying for first on floor and second on vault. Stephens took third on vault at Regionals in 2009, while also placing 10th on bars, third on beam and seventh on floor and all-around. In addition, Stephens competed on all events in the 2009 JO National Championships. Stephens was born on May 1, 1993, in Phoenix, Ariz. Stephens is the daughter of Cory and Jeri Wiedel, and has one sister, Jayden, and one brother, Jagger. Stephens is majoring in advertising and public relations at Nebraska. JUNIOR SEASON Emily Wong has cemented her position as one of the nation s top all-around competitors this season, holding a top-five individual ranking (No. 4) and one of the country s best individual efforts (39.725). She is ranked in the top-20 on every event and owns a total of 23 titles in 2013, including seven in the allaround. Her regular season efforts resulted in two Big Ten Gymnast or Co-Gymnast of the Week honors alongside first-team All-Big Ten accolades and an Academic All-Big Ten honor. Wong saved her finest performance of the season for the Big Ten Championships, winning the allaround for the second consecutive year with a career-high She was the Big Ten champion or co-champion on floor, beam and bars and earned a four All-Big Ten Championship Team awards. HUSKER CAREER Wong has been a stellar competitor from the get-go at Nebraska, pulling down four All-America honors as a freshman and sophomore. A first-team selection on bars (2011) and beam (2012), she also finished 10th in the beam finals at the NCAA Championships in The Grand Forks, N.D., native earned second-team All-America awards on floor and in the all-around that season as well. Wong has also been a force at the conference level throughout her career. In 2012, she was the Big Ten champion on floor, beam and in the all-around, captured four total All-Big Ten Championship Team honors and was a first-team All-Big Ten pick. She also owns All-Big 12 Championship Team accolades from the 2011 season. The junior has also been a bright spot in the classroom for the Huskers. She was the North Dakota state all-around champion in 2008 and 2009, in addition to being the North Dakota vault, bars, beam and floor champion in She placed fifth in the all-around, fourth on bars and third on beam at the 2009 regionals. Wong garnered a 10th-place finish on beam and came in 16th in the all-around at the 2009 Junior Olympic National Championships. A 2010 graduate of Red River High School, she was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society and the Honor Roll.
