1 MMHS Eagle HighFLIGHTS: *MMHS ELLEVÉS ARE NATIONAL MILITARY CHAMPIONS: The MMHS Ellevés Drill Team competed at the West Coast Elite Dance Competition held in Long Beach, California on March 24, The team competed in the following categories: Military, Dance, Pom, and Hip Hop. The Ellevés placed 1 st in Military and were awarded the National Champion Military trophy and jackets. The Ellevés also received a judge s choice award so they were asked to perform their military routine in the Finals Gala that was held later that evening. Other routine placements were 5 th in Pom, 7 th in Hip Hop, and 8 th in Dance. There were 62 teams competing at the competition, mainly from California, but there were teams from Texas, Florida, and Utah. While in California, the Ellevés also had the opportunity to take classes at The Edge Performing Arts Studio. They took a private hip hop class that was very beneficial, motivating, and fun. Now the team will prepare for their annual showcase which will be held on May 3 in the MMHS auditorium. The showcase will feature all of the team s competition routines as well as a few new routines. The new Ellevés will also perform. Plan now to attend and see some award-winning routines performed by an amazing team! *MMHS Welding: Our Welding program won $20,000 in a student fabrication contest sponsored by ESAB Welding Co. A team of 5 students built 3 dining tables and delivered them to Mexico for families in need. Team members were Sam Christmas, Ladd Davis, Wyatt Justensen, Nate Wright, Brian Workman. The team was up agasint 2 other schools in the country, PA, and MA. ESAB placed the projects online for 10 days open to public vote. After the voting time was up, the team with the most votes won the prize money, to be used in new equipment or materials for the program. We won! Yahoo! Way to go
2 Jessica Pratt competed at BYU on Marc 29 th at the Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair. She won 2nd place in Earth and Environmental Science ($75). She won two special awards: The first was the Women in Geosciences Award and the second was the Stockholm Junior Water Prize ($100), and an invitation to compete at the state level for the SJWP. Hooray! *MMHS Science Olympiad: The team pulled it off for a fourth year in a row!!! We took first and got the best score in team history, averaging a fourth place finish over all 24 events - scoring 97 pts overall (low score wins). There were 31 teams, including some incredibly talented teams from Hillcrest, West, and UCAS. We were really happy to hold onto the title and represent our school again this year at Nationals. Nationals will be May 17th-20th in Fort Collins, Colorado. Thank you for your support of the team and these amazing students. Mr. Miller Here are the notable individual results:

Applicants must attend one of the two clinics to learn clinic dance and be prepared with one minute of their own movement. Auditions Wednesday, April 18 from 3-6 pm in the dance room. Applicants will perform the clinic dance in small groups and their individual choreography for judges. Those who successfully audition for Dance Company and Dance 3/Dance Excel will be posted shortly after auditions. *MMHS Attendance Information: Parents, please understand that students cannot leave class to check-out unless a note is sent from the attendance office to their teacher excusing them. Remember that students are not allowed to use their phones during class so a text message from you is not the best option. We ask that parents call the attendance office to
4 check out their student and a note will be sent as quickly as possible. Please understand that we do not call into the classrooms to request students, but send notes, trying to minimize interruptions, so please plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time for this check-out process.
