What a wonderful start to the year, I have loved meeting so many new and excited faces The energy in the studio has been great Lets keep it going I am always up for a chat, so please don t hesitate in ringing me if you would like to discuss your dancing needs. Thank you for your on going support, I have been completely overwhelmed with the response we have had this year. So very exciting Invoices A reminder to those yet to return their registration forms. Please do so urgently. Until we have that form at the office, your child is not registered and really shouldn't participate in class. EVENTS 9TH MARCH: BEGONIA FESTIVAL 16TH MARCH: PRIVATE COACHING STARTS Please return at your next class. We have forms at the studio, you can fill in on the spot. All registered students should have now received an invoice. Please check your invoice has the correct class(es) on it. It is important that this is set up correctly now, to avoid errors later in the year. We will also have a raffle at the event 1 st prize: Arbonne Premium Product Hamper 2 nd Prize: Maggie & Kate Treat Box All proceeds from the event will go towards the Dancemakers end of year production. 1 WE NEED NUMBERS BY THURSDAY, 19th March for catering purposes

2 STUDENTS OF FOCUS Meet Jasmin Robinson I am very proud of our students at Dancemakers - so proud that I will be featuring students of focus with each Dancemakers News addition to share. Jasmin Robinson is one of our Senior dancers as well as trainee teacher here at Dancemakers. Her commitment and enthusiasm is second to none, I am so proud to have Jasmin as part of the Dancemakers team, both as a student and a staff member. A wonderful role model for our younger students. House Keeping Please take a look through our lost property basket located in change rooms. Jasmin was awarded a full scholarship to continue her training with Dancemakers this year. Interests: My interests are Dancing, Singing, Acting, Dance Moms & Food. Classes at Dancemakers: At Dancemakers I take Contemporary, Ballet, Pre-point, Jazz, Hip-hop, Acrobatics, Limber & Lyrical. How long have you been dancing for? This is my 13th year of dancing. What do you love the most about dancing? My love of dance comes from the feeling you get when performing, along with achieving What are you hoping to achieve this year? This year I'm going to try to do well in competitions, improve on my technique and flexibility and go on pointe'. What do you hope to achieve in the future? In the future I hope to have a career in performing. Scholarship Students Thank you to those that applied for a scholarship this year. I received so many lovely applications. Congratulations to the following students who have received a scholarships to attend a class of their choice. Cars are NOT TO PARK on McDougall Drive. Dates for your diary I understand families are busy, therefore I try to share our important dates early in the year so no one misses out Please pop the Event Dates on your calendar. Begonia Festival Thank you to all involved in the Begonia Festival, what a lovely experience I am all abut creating opportunities for our dancers to be a part of the larger community. Please, if you know of any opportunities for us to perform - let us know:) Looking forward to our next community gig at the Buninyong Primary School Twilight Fete this Friday and then next Saturday we will be at Phoenix Primary School for theirs LOVE A BUSY CALENDAR 3

Easter Workshops We are having our wonderful easter Workshop at the studio again this year - if you know someone that is 5yrs or under, book them in Its a great session. 5 YOUNG DANCEMAKERS SHOWCASE. As we strive toward providing our young dance makers a positive and supportive dance experience, it is our number one goal to assist students confidence and personal goals...it is noted that a number of our students have a keen interest and talent in choreography. Both choreography and dancing are wonderful ways of expressing emotion and a terrific outlet for creativity. I strongly advise all students to enter a piece in the young dance makers showcase; a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase and share their dancing skills with their peers. Items will be presented on May 16th at 2pm (at the Studio). Parents and friends are welcome to come along to watch their child present. Each candidate will receive a written report and certificate of participation. One winner will be selected to perform their pieces at our mid years showcase. Participants MUST; A.) Be over 7 YEARS old B.) Return the commitment form below. This must be signed by both parent/guardian and student. C.) Have a short ( mins) solo, duo/trio choreographed independently. This can be in the form of ANY DANCE STYLE. D.) Students are to wear full dancemakers uniform or costume if appropriate (immaculate grooming is imperative). E.) The use of small props is allowed. F.) Provide the music on cd. Where the piece of music is longer than 2mins it should (ideally) be cut using a sound edit- ing program, where this is not possible the song will need to be faded out. Students will need to bring someone along to operate the music and play and stop at appropriate time. G.) Present a short written piece introducing your dance item (you may choose to title your piece). This may be in the form of a program note, reflective piece, advertisement etc. This will be read to introduce your dance piece before your performance. Please include the title of the song/music your have chosen along with the artist/composer. I need notification of who is participating by April 17th. Please return the below form, alternatively let Kylie know in writing I,,In the presence of agree to present a solo / duo / trio (please circle) for the 2015 Young Dancemakers Showcase and I agree to the above conditions. 6 CORE VALUES Vision Board Here at Dancemakers we bring everything we do back to our Core Values please familiarise your self with these. Our staff have started on a Vision Board - and now we need the dancers to contribute - Please bring in images / words to add to our vision board relating to our Core values and what we love about dance :) House Keeping By now students should be wearing the correct uniform and shoes. For those classes that don t have a specific uniform, they are to come in all black (preferably with our uniform singlet / crop / hoodie). ALL of our classes are very active - and require students to be dressed appropriately, it is not appropriate to come in clothing that shows underwear or restricts movement. Please make sure your children are collected ON TIME - unless you have classes following. Staff finish at the time of their class. 6
