1 Morning Announcements 1/19/17 FCA will meet only on Tuesdays for the next two weeks. It will resume normal schedule after that. FCA group pictures will can be taken January 31st. The 2017 Disc Golf season is about to begin. An interest meeting will be on January 27, in Room 403. We will learn basic disc golf skills. The meeting will last until 5:00. Students must have a ride at 5:00. This is open to boys and girls if any grade level. Boys soccer tryouts will take place on Jan 30th after school. Ms. Askew would like to congratulate the winners of the MLK Oratorical Contest, Abigail Childs and Serenity Sneed. Both 7th grade girls read their poems at the Martin Luther King Celebration last night in front of college students and did a phenomenal job!!!! They received medals and a certificate. Please share in the Oakland pride, by congratulating the winners Abigail Childs, Serenity Sneed, and all the students that provided entries. FCA pictures can be taken this Saturday, here at OMS from This day is for students who would like a headshot. You may come anytime between 8-12.

5 Don t miss the OMS choir concert today Dec. 15th at 6:30. There are 6 wonderful choirs that will be performing a variety of music from many different genres and time periods. That s over an hour of fantastic music! They are using this event as a fundraiser for the choir. There is a gate fee of two dollars for everyone over the age of 5. Students can purchase tickets to the OMS Variety Show that will be on Friday morning, December 16. It is an AWESOME show, you DON'T want to miss! Tickets will be $2 each and they can be purchased at lunch. Arm bands will be issued to anyone buying a ticket on Friday morning. You MUST get your ticket during lunch there will not be any additional tickets sold on Friday morning. Remember tickets are only $2! Pay your lunch fines before school is out for break!!! Lost and found will be PURGED and taken to goodwill after Friday of this week. This Saturday the Wrestling team is battling for first place in the conference. The O-zone is home to the conference dual championship. Please remember to bring your Christmas mugs, boxes of hot cocoa and boxes of candy canes to Mrs. Hopkins room or Mr. Tilley s room by Tuesday, December 13, We will stay after school and assemble the mugs after school Wednesday, December 14th in the library. Last year we made 280 mugs filled with hot cocoa and candy canes to deliver. Let's beat that record and make this the most successful year to "Mug the Elderly! Our mock election was held last week and the votes are in. Out of 1105 students at our school only 610 legitimate ballots were submitted which means approximately 55% of our students voted. o Trump received 351 votes--57.5% of votes o Clinton received 259 votes--42.5% of votes o Gary Johnson was not on the ballot.. The Lady Chargers basketball finished 2nd in the Rockvale Tournament this past weekend. The Chargers and Lady Chargers will travel to Mt. Juliet on Thursday. The 1st period class with the most box tops turned in wins a pizza party. Please clip your box tops from household items and put them in a ziplock bag with your first period teacher's name on it. The boys tennis team defeated Blackman 5-0 and Middle Tennessee Christian 4-1. With these 2 wins, the team upped their record to 7-1 and finished 2 nd place in league play. 25 Tomorrow is a special day!! Please listen carefully to your teachers and follow ALL instructions! At 8:15 am any student who sold three or more magazines needs to report to the auditorium for their movie. These students are on a list from Ms. Chumley and have a ticket for the movie. At 10:00 am we will announce for all students to report to the gym for the Payoff Pep Rally - please listen carefully for that announcement and follow those instructions exactly. During fourth and fifth period each grade level will eat lunch in mass. Your teachers have your lunch times. If you would like to participate in Grub Hub exit out the doors beside the gym when you come down to the cafeteria. Once you exit the doors to go to Grub Hub you cannot come back in. Please make sure that you understand this. If you do not plan to participate in Grub Hub you will eat lunch in the cafeteria like normal. After the pep rally ends at 10:45 am you will follow your normal schedule for the remainder of the day with the exception of your lunch time changing slightly. You must have an updated physical to try out. The OMS XC Girls Varsity is our County and Regionals Champion. Boys Varsity placed 4th in both races. Our varsity team will be advancing to State on October 8th in Clarksville, TN. Both JV teams placed top 5. Jessie Thepsauvon, McCall Coleman, and Sydney King won their singles matches to lead the girls tennis team past Christiana 3 2. The Boys tennis team remains undefeated with a 5-0 victory over Christiana. Spencer Winterbottom and Boston Smith remain undefeated at doubles. The Football team beat Rock Springs 16 8 to complete their season with 5 wins and 3 losses.
