2 Dazzler Hopefuls! Tryouts are scheduled for February 6-10, 2017! Dazzlers have been involved in some exciting things in the past 3 years. Carnival Performance Cruise, Orlando, Florida performing at Disney Springs, Winter Show, a couple contests, and of course Friday Night Lights! The Dazzler year is full of activity. It all starts with Officer and Team camps in the summer, then fall and winter is filled with daily practices, football season and Forest Festival Contest. 3 Diboll High School Dazzler Tryout Schedule January 17 Parent the Intermediate School Library This is a MANDATORY meeting for parents of hopefuls. If you are trying out, you MUST have an adult present or you will be unable to tryout. We will quickly go over: the year at a glance, estimated expenses, basic Dazzler Rules/expectations, Q&A February 6-10 TRYOUT WEEK! Mandatory practices for ALL Dazzler prospects, guests are not permitted Monday 2/6 Intermediate Gym 4:00 6:00 Learn Dance Tuesday 2/7 - Intermediate Gym 4:00 6:00 Practice Dance/Learn Kick Sequence Wednesday 2/8 - Intermediate Gym 4:00 6:00 Practice Dance and Kick Sequence Thursday 2/9 - Intermediate Gym 4:00 6:00 review and Mock Tryouts Friday 2/10 TRYOUTS!! - 5:00 until done Be at Intermediate dressed & ready by 5:00 for tryouts. Juniors who have been on the team 3 years WILL perform the line tryout dance in front of the judges in groups of 3 with other hopefuls. Although it won t determine your place on the line, you will be scored for reference and in case you are trying out for officer. Officer tryouts will follow shortly after line tryouts that evening. ** NO PARENTS/GUESTS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE INTERMEDIATE AFTER 5:00 PM DURING TRYOUTS **

4 Diboll High School Dazzler Tryout Requirements Attendance The week of tryouts is required for all ladies auditioning for the Dazzler team Appropriate Attire for Tryout Learning Sessions During the learning sessions Dazzler Hopefuls may wear the following: 1. Leotards, Tank Tops, T-Shirts (not oversized) 2. ANY type of form fitting bottom ( Jazz Pants, Capri Pants, Soffe Shorts etc...) 3. Tennis Shoes or Dance Sneakers/Jazz shoes are preferred. NO CONVERSE 4. Hair must be pulled back and all bangs/stray hair must be pinned back. (ponytail, braid etc.) Dazzler Hopefuls DO NOT wear 1. Half Tops and Sports Bras as Tops (must have a full length top over these) 2. BIG Shirts or BAGGY pants (we want to see the hopefuls movements so we can help them as much as possible this week) 3. Jewelry of any kind (it can be harmful to them and dancers near them) 4. Converse shoes PARENTS DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FOR THIS WEEK! BEG, BORROW, and REUSE! When your daughter makes the team you have plenty to buy, We do not want you to put money out on the tryout process! Day of Tryout Attire: Each candidate will wear black tights with black shorts or black jazz pants, black leotard, black jazz shoes. Hair will be worn in a ponytail completely out of their face with a red ribbon, bangs secured to stay out of face. Make up is good to give color to your face and make facials more noticeable. Try and have your lips in a shade of red so they can be seen. Your SMILE is important! Academics: Once a member of the Dazzler Team, one must maintain an average of 70 or above for the duration of their membership with Dazzlers. If a failing grade is obtained the Dazzler will be placed on probation for 3 weeks and reassessed when progress reports come out. After the second failing report the Dazzler will be dismissed from the line. If a Dazzler, who is required to sign an Eligibility Agreement (one that has failed any grading period the school year prior) fails ANY of the nine week grading periods, she will immediately be removed from the team. Keep Tempo of Music Arm Placement Kicks waist high with good form Memory Mechanics of a Leap Single turn Grades/Stellar Behavior

5 Dazzler Hopefuls To Do List Suggestions Read the Constitution (this is important!) It will be passed out Monday of Tryout Week! Start stretching EVERY night. Work to obtain and maintain your Right and Left Split (suggestion: pile up pillows and as you feel a little more comfortable take one out and work your way down. DO NOT BOUNCE you will rip something. NO FUN! ) DRINK LOTS OF WATER! Work on Kick Height (don't lift the heel, or pull shoulders to your leg stand tall!) Visit our Website for all Dazzler info and our upcoming events and a calendar. See if you are willing to put in the time it takes to make this team: The Pride of Diboll! Click on : High School Students Clubs and Activities Dance/Drill Team Start talking to your parents about the time and financial commitment required for Dazzlers. This year new Dazzlers will have the cost of a NEW Field Uniform, camp clothes, warmups, camp. Becoming a Dazzler is an investment, you must invest as much time, effort and determination to succeed because your parents are investing in you! Throughout the year you will have to provide for tights and the upkeep of their basic dance supplies. ( hair, makeup, t-shirts etc.)

I hereby authorize student to participate in off-campus trips and all Dazzler related activities. I understand that the school district will exercise reasonable and prudent care in the supervision of my child. With such understanding, I release and discharge completely Diboll ISD, its Board of Trustees, and employees from all liability, claims, or causes of action whatsoever from any and all liability for personal injury, death, or property damages associated with the activity. Further, I agree that any school district employee associated with the activity may consent to medical treatment for my child in case of injury related to the activity. I understand that Diboll ISD is not responsible for payment of any such medical treatment.
