2 WELCOME TO THE 2015 MUSIC IN MOTION SHOW FROM OUR ANOKA MARCHING TORNADO FAMILY TO YOURS!!! What is a FAMILY? One definition by Webster is: a group of people united by certain convictions or a common affiliation That describes our Anoka Marching Band along with many, if not all, of the bands performing here today. We all start the season as individuals we come in as players, instructors or parent volunteers. By the time the competition season starts we are well on our way to being a closely knit family one who believes in each other and has the desire to perform as a group at our very very best! By the time season starts, these individuals have spent countless hours together practicing music, writing and directing drill, twirling flags and rifles, filling out the dreaded dot books, serving countless meals at spat camp, sizing uniforms, as well as laughing, crying, hugging, high-fiving and supporting each other in ways not always thought possible. After all that is what FAMILY does. Your band family is truly your second family and all too often you spend more time with them than your family at home. You build friendships that can and often do last a lifetime. Who knows you may even marry a fellow band member! You share the good times and the bad times with them after all who is going to help you when you can t find your music, lost a mouth piece or heaven forbid forgot your black socks? Who else but your band family will share their lunch, drive those who can t to and from practice or extra section practice so their parents don t have to, explain to you a million and one times what the difference is between a xylophone and marimba and then when you forget they just shake their head and laugh? Who else will send you reminders of all the things you need to do, jump in to help push instruments on and off the field, fix a tuba or electrical cord when needed and most importantly smile and say hi to you every time they see you? YOUR BAND FAMILY! We would like to thank many members of our FAMILY who have helped make this show a success: our director Mr. Tim Hauser, our instructors and staff, the members of our band and color guard, and of course our parent volunteers who have worked countless hours and without whom this show would not be possible. Last, but certainly not least, we want to thank you THE FANS! The love and support you show your marching band family is what unites us all into ONE BIG BAND FAMILY. Here at Anoka we pride ourselves on FAMILY. We hope that as you watch all these other wonderful bands compete, or perform in exhibition, you feel the same sense of pride and FAMILY as we do! On behalf of the Anoka Marching Tornadoes Family and the Anoka Band Parent Association Family we wish each and every one of you GOOD LUCK! Please grab a snack from our concession stand, sit back and enjoy the 2015 Music In Motion Show! Sincerely, Michelle Kocovsky Anoka Band Parent Association President Proud Parent of Cole Percussion/Drumline Our Marching Tornadoes have a had very strong start this year and are continuing to dazzle the crowds they are performing for each time. The dedication of our students and Director has been amazing to watch and make us very proud at Anoka High School. We have high expectations again this year for our Anoka Marching Band and know that we will attain high levels again this year. The energy is very positive, and our students are embracing this new year with refreshed energy and focus. It is a team effort every year with our students, Director, parents, volunteers and our Marching Band boosters to launch such a successful program. I would like to send a hearty thank you to our Tornado Marching Band Booster program and parents for all of your support for our students and our Marching Band Program. Your countless hours of dedication and volunteering of your time is very appreciated! Good luck to our Marching Band and Directors as you begin another successful season. Go Marching Tornadoes! The ROCORI school district is located in central Minnesota, immediately to the west of St. Cloud. It is a district that includes the cities of Rockville, Cold Spring, and Richmond. We practice outside of the school day and are composed of students in grades 8 through 12. Our show is comprised, mostly, of Renaissance music and music composed by Eric Idle. With only 21 members, we are going to attempt to give you too much of a show to experience in just one viewing.
