2 The Cross Country Team By Nick McGee The Cross Country Team is coached by Chris Davis. The team members include Garrett Blankstom, Lorin Gattis, Matthew Giffin and Cayton Kirkus. The team has done well so far with meets at St. Andrews, Forrest, Webb, Community, and the MSCCA Voyles Classic. Keep up the great work CCT!!! FHS Volleyball By Baylor Howell The Lady Tiger volleyball team has only three weeks left of the season. On Monday, September 26, the Lady Tigers have a home game and the theme is Pink Out. Then, On Tuesday, September 27, it is Senior Night for the Lady Tigers. The week of fall break the Lady Tigers will be working hard in the district tournament. Mrs. Ruhlander says, The team is a very young and hardworking volleyball team. The girls have worked very hard on the accuracy of their serves and getting the first pass to the setter. Once the girls master these two skills they can move on to perfecting their hitting. What they lack in height they make up for in effort. The Lady Tigers went 7-9 last season. FHS Girls Soccer by Baylor Howell The Lady Tiger soccer team has only one more regular season game this year. The girls have won their first 2 games this season!! The top scorers this season are Erin Bradford, Sophia Solomon, and Carson Williams. The new coach has really helped the girls out the season. Hopefully the girls do really well in the district tournament. FHS Clubs By Hannah Chunn At Fayetteville High School, there are multifarious clubs and organizations for students to be a part of. Fellowship of Christian Students or First Priority meets in the library every Wednesday at 7:30. Keep your grades up, and you'll be able to join the Beta Club and embark on all of the many trips and adventures. If you know your subjects well and love helping others, become a peer educator! Great leaders should look to joining Leo Club. Medic Club recently had a nurse come to speak about her profession, so make sure to tune in for the next meeting! Outdoors Club goes on several hikes and trips to different locations in the great outdoors. 2
3 I Am From I am from sweet smells From baked brownies and new shoes I am from the past and the present (reminiscent, yet vague memories and feelings about myself) I am from pine trees and blooming flowers, Sprouting as the day goes by I m from athleticism and funny jokes From Monae and Jason I m from the I love you s and I told you so s From the keep your grades up and keep your head on straight I m from Psalms 23, and John 3:16 I m from Fayetteville, Tennessee Fried chicken, and chess pie From the generation of hatred, love, and guilt The choices made and lost A variety of pictures and memories Both sad and joyous --By Arri Emmons Help support our local movie theater by coming to see movies locally! 3
4 Be the Change Have you ever wondered What can I do to help my local community more? If so, you re in luck with all of the amazing organizations we have in our community. The organizations listed below are great, what is stopping anyone and everyone from going and just helping out if that opportunity is possible. Here are some places where you can volunteer: Helping Hands Fayetteville Lincoln County Public Library Carriage House Players Juniors House Nursing Homes If you can t help with some events, you may still go and help clean up after and just assist our community to look the best it can. However, it doesn t even have to be a special event for you to help our community. Just whenever anyone may happen to walk around and stumble upon something or someone that could use some sort of help in some manner, it never hurts to ask if they need help and it also never hurts to help if they may need assistance. So if you just happen to stumble upon anything and everything that could use help, spend one single minute, out of billions, of your time to just help. Everyone can do it and nothing is stopping them, help get keep this community in super shape. By Seth Moyers 4
5 College Scholarships Attention all Tigers, regardless if you are an upperclassmen or lowerclassmen you need to be thinking about gaining college scholarships for when you start applying for colleges. It is important to know scholarships are offered by your favorite college. I would recommend the app Schoold because it provides a simple way to browse different colleges and match them based on what you are wanting for your future. It also has options to look at colleges that offer things based on your chosen career, if you want to be closer to home, and what you are wanting to major in. It also gives you an option to see what scholarships a particular college offers as well as how much it is worth. You can also check out websites such as for additional information and don t be afraid to see our guidance counselor if you are confused about anything involving this process. What is going on at FHS? o ACT Study Group at 7:15 every morning. o Beta Club s field trip to Cathedral Caverns. o Tiger Tales Halloween writing competition o Collage APP week By Kat Collins 5
