3 Box Tops for Education The PE department is collecting Box Tops for Education. Please turn them in to your PE/Health teacher.

4 Family Reading Night Family Reading Night is Thursday, Nov. 16 th! Turn off the TV and read for 20 minutes to be entered into a raffle for one $5 Starbucks gift card per grade! More information and parent signature slips will be available later this week!

5 Chorus Chorus rehearsals are Monday and Thursday after school until 4:05 pm in the Band Room.

6 Ronald McDonald House Charities Grissom is once again collected pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities! The pop tabs are recycled and sold for scrap metal. Last year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana raised more than $40,000 from this program. A collection box will be in the Commons for your donations!

7 6 th /7 th Grade Girls Volleyball Tryouts Tryouts for 6 th and 7 th grade girls volleyball will be held from 7:30-8:30 am on Monday, Dec. 11 th and from 3:15-4:45 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 12 th. Permission forms are in the rack outside the Main Office and should be turned in to Coach Chicvara by Friday, Dec. 8 th.

8 Jazz Band Jazz Band rehearses at Prairie View every Wednesday after school from 4:00-5:15 pm.

9 Cheer/Dance Team Tryout forms for the Cheer/Dance team are available in the rack outside the Main Office. They are due back to Mrs. Griffin in Room 210 by Thursday, Nov. 30 th. Mandatory clinic is Tuesday, Dec. 5 th with tryouts Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 6 th and 7 th.

10 Hot Lunch Tomorrow is Hot Lunch! Please remember to thank the parents serving you! Without them, there would be no Hot Lunch program.

11 Yearbooks!! Don t miss out on the memories from this year! Order a yearbook today! Order forms are in the rack outside the Main Office, or you can order online at yearbookforever.com Each yearbook costs $27. The deadline for orders is Jan. 13, 2018.

12 Respond Now Winter Clothing Drive Student Council is sponsoring a Winter Clothing Drive through Friday, Nov. 17 th. New and gently used coats, mittens, gloves, hats and scarves are being collected in the boxes outside of the Commons.

13 Crayola ColorCycle Students and teachers will soon be collecting used markers (any brand!) to be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more! Boxes will be located in the Commons. The Crayola ColorCycle program can keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year! Remember, don t throw out that used marker ColorCycle it!

14 Internet Safety Please remind your parents to attend the Internet Safety presentation that will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 28 th at 7:00 pm here at Grissom. Det. Bonerak from the Tinley Park Police Department will be the presenter. (This meeting is for parents only!)

15 Girls Basketball Good luck to the Lady Patriots today in their home games against Oak Lawn. Game time is 4:30 pm. Come out and show your support for the team! (Remember to bring you Grissom ID!)

16 Student Council The Student Council Executive Board will meet today after school until 4:00 in Room 118.

17 Boys Volleyball Good luck to the Patriots as they take on Oak Lawn today in an away game! Game time is 4:30 pm.

18 Student ID s When attending afterschool activities such as games and dances, you must have your Grissom ID with you! You will not be admitted without it!

21 Intramurals This is the last week for volleyball and basketball intramurals! Volleyball intramurals are held on Tuesdays, and Basketball intramurals are held on Thursdays. All intramurals are held from 7:45-8:25 am.

22 Student Support Before and after school Student Support is offered from 8:00-8:35 am each morning, and from 3:10-4:05 pm Monday through Thursday. You must arrive at the beginning of the session and stay for the whole time!

23 Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge Last year Grissom Patriots saved over 6,600 plastic water bottles from ending up in landfills by using the water bottle filling stations throughout the building. Please remember to use these instead of plastic bottles. So far this year, we ve saved 3,696 bottles from landfills! Let s beat last year s total!
