No date is reserved until confirmation if give by SCPRD. Rules and Requirements! Indoor facilities must be rented at least 72 hours before the event for a minimum of 2 hours.! Rentals shall be requested in full hour amounts. Rates will not be divided for ½ increments.! All posted park rules must be followed at all times. No alcohol, drugs, fireworks, or weapons on premises.! No sideways play allowed on Paul Braxton Soccer Field.! No decorations can be taped, tacked, or stapled to any part of the facility! Setup and cleanup must be included in rental times. All trash must be placed in the proper receptacles.! Any outside vendors must provide the Siler City Parks and Recreation Department with proof of Commercial General Liability Insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence. 4 Summer Open Gym Are you tired of just sitting around and w a t c h i n g television during the summer break? Get your friends and family and get moving! The Siler City Parts and Recreation Department holds Open Gym during the weekdays (Excluding Holidays) at Paul Braxton Gym and Ernest Ramsey Gym. Paul Braxton Gym houses our participants who are under 12 years old and is open from 9 am - 1 pm. Ernest Ramsey Gym houses our participants who are over 13 years old and is open from 9 am to 3 pm. Each participant must sign in and sign out each day. Participants at Paul Braxton Gym must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18. Open Gym begins June 17th and continues through the summer until August 9th. This is a FREE PROGRAM! Taekwondo For You Join Siler City Parks and Recreation and AFE Taekwondo for this great martial arts program. The Taekwondo program is a great opportunity for those who are new to taekwondo; it is designed to introduce new participants to the principles and enjoyment of martial arts. AFE Taekwondo is under the leadership of Master Antonio, who strives to provide high quality martial arts instruction with a positive and friendly environment. He empowers people of all ages to improve their full potential. From Master Antonio We inspire our students to become more confident and successful contributing members of Siler City. Registration opens: July 1st, 2019 Registration deadline: August 16th, 2019 (or until full) Registration fee: $50 Ages 3-4: Saturdays 11:15 am to 11:45 am Ages 6-13: Saturdays 11:45 am to 12:30 pm Indoor Walking Program Get the blood pumping and you day started right with a few laps at Paul Braxton Gym or Ernest Ramsey Gym. The Indoor Walking Program is offered Monday through Friday 7 am to 9 am. This is a FREE PROGRAM! Programs Senior Bridge Join us on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm at the Earl B. Fitts Community Center for Bridge. Anyone 50 or better is invited to come socialize, interact and play Bridge. This is a FREE PROGRAM! Mini Masters Art Camp Beat the heat this summer and show your creativity at our Mini Masters Art Camp. Children ages 5-12 will put their creative minds to work in this art filled half day camp. With the Mini Masters Art Camp, campers will learn the basics of art, color theory (mixing colors), using a paint brush on canvas recycling with art. The art camp provides opportunities for participants to explore acrylics, watercolors and mixed media. Registration fee is $40 per camper. The camp is a half-day camp that takes place during a fourday period in the Summer. Mini Masters will run from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Earl B. Fitts Community Center, 111 South Third Avenue. There will be 2 sessions this summer!!! (space is limited to 20 campers per session) Session #1: June 17th - June 20th Registration deadline May 31st, 2019 (or until full) Session #2: July 22nd - July 25th Registration deadline May 31st, 2019 (or until full) Registration fee: $40 per session. Adult Open Gym Basketball The Ernest Ramsey Gym is open from 6 pm to 9 pm Wednesdays and Sundays for Adult Open Gym Basketball. There is no cost to play; however, all participants must sign a waiver before playing. This is a FREE PROGRAM. 5 How to Volunteer as a Coach Volunteer Coaches are the backbone to a successful parks and recreation youth athletic program. Volunteers donate their time and knowledge to teach our young participants the values of teamwork, dedication, sportsmanship, and fundamental skills in each sport. They also serve as a positive role model, both on and off the field. If this sounds like you, then contact Jack Clelland at or jclland@silercity.org to learn more. All Volunteer Coaches must submit and pass a background check and coaching application before assuming the role of Head or Assist. Coach. Special Events Easter Eggstravagnza Hop on out to Bray Park for our Annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Children from toddlers to 12 years of age will enjoy egg hunting, face painting, inflatable attractions, concessions and picture opportunities with the Easter Bunny. The Parks and Recreation Department needs your help finding the over 6000 eggs the Easter Bunny left in Bray Park. Find a prize egg and receive even more goodies. Come early and bring a basket. Egg Hunt will begin at 10:00 am! Easter Eggstravaganza will be on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 at 10:00 am. The Bray Park Sports Complex is located at 800 Alston Bridge Road. Fall-O-Ween Carnival Grab your costume and join the Parks and Recreation Department for an evening of Truck R Treating, games, inflatable attractions, and more. The night concludes with a movie in the park on the outdoor movie screen at 7:30 pm. Admission is FREE!!! This is a Rain or Shine Event. When: Friday October 25th, 2019 at 5:30 pm Where: Bray Park Sports Complex, 200 Bray Park Complex Dr. Chatham County Senior Games The Senior Games wellness and prevention program seeks to keep the body, mind and spirit fit while also fostering enjoyment with friends, family, spectators and volunteers. Seniors age 50 or better are eligible to participate. These leagues are designed to introduce new players to the great game of baseball, in a fun and safe environment. Practices and games will be held at Bray Park Sports Complex on the newly renovated T-Ball fields on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 7 Youth Athletics Youth Coach Pitch This league is for youth aging out of T-Ball or for those who have never played before. Coach Pitch Baseball will be held at Bray Park Athletic Complex on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Coach Pitch is offered to boys and girls ages 7-8 (age as of May 1st, 2019). Registration opens: January 7th, 2019 Registration deadline: March 1st, 2019 (or until full) Youth Baseball The Siler City Youth Baseball league is sanctioned through Dixie Youth Baseball and is a member of the West Chatham Baseball League. Practices are held at Bray Park Sports Complex Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Games are played at Bray Park Sports Complex and various fields within Chatham County. Baseball is open to boys and girls age 9-12 (age as of May 1st, 2019). Registration opens: January 7th, 2019 Registration deadline: March 1st, 2019 (or until full) Youth Softball The Siler City Youth Softball league is sanctioned through Dixie Youth Softball and is a member of the West Chatham Baseball League. Practices are held at Bray Park Athletic Complex Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Games are played at Bray Park Athletic Complex and various fields within Chatham County. Softball is open to girls ages 9-12 (age as of August 31st, 2019). Registration opens: January 7th, 2019 Registration deadline: March 1st, 2019 (or until full) Youth Cheerleading Siler City Parks and Recreation offers cheerleading for boys and girls ages 5-14 (age as of August 1st, 2019). Cheer squads are established based on age, 5-6 / 7-8 / 9-10 / Squads typically have 3 home games in which to cheer at and New this year is our Travel Squad. The travel squad will travel to away games to cheer and is optional for all cheer participants. Practices are held at Bray Park Sports Complex on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Cheerleaders provide positive encouragement and spirit for the Siler City Youth Football teams. Home games are held at Jordan-Matthews High School and away games are played at various fields located in or near Chatham County. Registration opens: May 6th, 2019 Registration deadline: July 12th, 2019 (or until full) Registration Fee: $25 Youth Basketball Youth Football The Siler City Parks and Recreation is a proud member of the QUAD County Recreational Football League comprised of professional parks and recreations departments from Chatham, Randolph and Wake County. Football is offered for boys and girls ages 5-12 (age as of August 1st, 2019). Practices are held Mondays (Tackle teams only), Tuesdays and Thursdays at Bray Park Athletic Complex. Home games are held at Jordan-Matthews High School. Away games played at various fields located in or near Chatham County. Registration opens: May 6th, 2019 Registration deadline: July 12th, 2019 (or until full) Flag Football (ages 5-6) $25 Tackle Football (ages 7-12) $30 Siler City Parks and Recreation offers basketball leagues for boys and girls ages 5-15 (age as of January 1st, 2019). The leagues focus on learning the basic developmental skills and improving existing skills of basketball. Typically, the 5-6 coed division practices on Monday or Tuesday. The 7-8 coed division practices on Wednesday or Thursday. The 9-10 girls and boys practice on Mondays; 9-10 boys and girls are typically on Tuesdays. The 12 and older age divisions practice on Thursdays. Practice days could change pending on number of teams. All games are played on Saturdays. Registration opens: September 4th, 2019 Registration deadline: November 9th, 2019 (or until full)
