2 February 28, 2019 Dear Parents of Lake Forest Dance Academy Preschool dancers, We are excited to invite you to the Lake Forest Dance Academy Preschool Recital 2019 Candy Land! This recital is meant to be a stress free, FUN experience for all! We are very aware that anything and everything can happen when we put children this age on stage and we firmly believe every experience is important. Your child may stand there in her/his costume and wave to you; she/he may perform beautifully; she/he may see you and decide to go sit with you instead of dancing at all! All of these are positive ways to introduce your child to performing on stage. There are 2 Shows: Show A and Show B. Attached is a list of each show noting which classes are in Show A or B. *NEW* Photo day is Sunday, April 7. All dancers will have a group photo taken - please see attached Photo Day Information and Schedule. Be sure to arrive no later than 15 minutes before your scheduled photo time. Dancers in more than one dance should bring all costumes with to change into before their next pictures. *NEW* Dress Rehearsal and the Recital is on the same day: Saturday, May 4. Show A performance is at 11:00 am with an arrival time of 10:00am for dress rehearsal. Show B is at 1:00pm with an arrival time for dress rehearsal at 12:00pm. Upon arrival, bring your dancer to the hallway at the north end of the theater. All classes will have a designated gathering area. Your dancer will be supervised by volunteers, teachers, and students who will also help with costume changes. *NEW* Once you have dropped your dancer off you may wait in the lobby to buy tickets, flowers or refreshments. You may also leave to grab coffee and come back in time for the show. Unless you are a volunteer you will not be allowed in the theater or back stage during dress rehearsal. Location for rehearsals and recital is at The John and Nancy Hughes Theater at Gorton Community Center, 400 East Illinois Road Lake Forest. The week of April 1-6, you will receive specific class recital day information from your child's teacher. This info will include information as to hair, accessories, tights, etc. You can find all information, links, order forms for Pictures, DVD s, and Tickets on the following link to the Dance Academy Preschool Recital page of the city s web site: Online ticket sales open Wednesday, March 20 at 10:00am. Online ticket sales close May 2. A small number of tickets will be available at the door. Remember that seating is assigned so don t wait to purchase your tickets. 4 Photo Day Sunday, April 7, 2019 Lake Forest Recreation Center Studio 3 (Group Photos) * Studio 2 (Individual Photos) Instructions: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled photo time (schedule attached). Group photos are taken in Studio 3. All dancers should wear their costumes, hair in a bun, or as otherwise directed. Make up is optional; please use only blush high on cheekbones and soft pink lip gloss, if any. LABEL ALL PARTS, SHOES AND ACCESSORIES individually with your child s name. If your dancer is in Pre Ballet w Tap, dress them in their ballet costume & ballet shoes and bring with you their tap shoes and any additional costume pieces or accessories for their group tap photo, which will be taken immediately following their ballet group photo. Parents will wait in the observation room as the photos are being taken. After the group photos are complete, dancers will be released to the observation room and you may then take your dancer to Studio 2 for their individual photo session. Order Forms and Payment: Photo order forms and payment must be turned in to the photographer on photo day. All dancers will have a Group Photo taken. Individual photos are optional and will be taken in Studio 2. Group and Individual Photo Order forms are available online and on-site. If your dancer is in more than one dance: Dancers should line up with their first group. The other costume(s) should be held onto by a parent/guardian who is in charge of your dancer. LABEL ALL PARTS, SHOES AND ACCESSORIES individually with your child s name. After their first dance pictures are finished, dancers with changes can proceed to the rec bathroom/changing room with a parent or guardian to change into their next costume. Their first costumes, shoes and accessories should also be labeled and placed in your child s bag.

10 **Dress Rehearsal & Performance Day** Saturday, May 4 John & Nancy Hughes Theater - Gorton Community Center Show A Arrival Time 10:00am * Show B Arrival Time 12:00pm Dress rehearsals allow the dancers and technical crews to have a complete run through of the performance on stage with lights and costume changes. When you arrive at Gorton Community Center, bring your dancer to the hallway on the North side of the theater. All classes will have a designated gathering area. Check your dancer in with the volunteer and leave your costume change bag with them if applicable. All dancers should wear their costumes, hair in a bun, or as otherwise directed. Make up is optional; please use only blush high on cheekbones and soft pink lip gloss, if any. A limited amount of flowers will be for sale on each of the recitals. Only parent volunteers will be able to watch their dancer either backstage or at the back of the theater. Volunteers should rejoin the group after their dance and remain with them through the curtain call line up. If your dancer is in more than one dance, please make sure to label all parts, shoes and accessories individually with your child s name and place them all in a labeled bag. We will have a group curtain call at the end of the performance for all dancers. Your dancer will be released to a family member at the conclusion of the curtain call. Unless you are a volunteer, you are not allowed backstage or in the theater during dress rehearsal. If your dancer is in more than one dance: The other costume(s) should be given to the parent volunteer in charge of your dancer s first group at the time of check in. LABEL ALL PARTS, SHOES AND ACCESSORIES individually with your child s name and place them all in a LABELED BAG. T-Shirts: Free LFDA Recital T-shirts will be passed out to our dancers on the day of the show. Remember this is a fun and casual performance for you and your child! Encourage them to smile and have fun showing you their beautiful dances. Even if they simply stand and wave it will be a great performance experience. We look forward to a great weekend and thank you for volunteering. Your help makes everything run smoothly for our young dancers.
