The sexual tension between Connie and Jacob is electric, and Charlie sees it all. After a little encouragement, Connie invites Jacob into her office, but will she finally find the courage to make a move? Cal s head is in a mess. Charlie asks if he s spoken to Ethan about his discovery, but Cal doesn t have the heart. He decides that the only way to solve this is to find his birth Mum and ask her directly. The new receptionist Jack Diamond arrives, and makes his presence known by taking charge of the Christmas decorations. While Nikki and Olivia are back in the Emergency Department and Ethan dismisses Dixie s concerns that there s more to Olivia s injury than meets the eye Ceri Mears 2

3 THE REAL MIKE PHILLIPS Monday, December 7, BBC One Wales, 9pm In this Rugby World Cup year, cameras followed international rugby star Mike Phillips on and off the pitch, to get under the skin of the controversial player. From preparations for the Six Nations Championship to the impact of coach Warren Gatland s World Cup selection decisions, this programme tells all. Mike, from Bancyfelin, Carmarthenshire, is considered by some as one of Wales greatest scrum halves and has earned himself a reputation as the bad boy of rugby. He has made headlines on the front pages, as well as the back. Off the field his high-profile relationship with singer Duffy, his late-night brawls and his celebrity Twitter spat with One Direction s Niall Horan mean he has never been far away from the limelight and controversy. But there s another side to the maverick player. In this one-off documentary, friends and family talk of his commitment to fundraising and his hard work as a charity ambassador. And Mike talks openly about his A-list relationship, the pressure of the game and his fear of failure. According to Eddie Butler, He s multi-tiered, he s hot-tempered, he s a handful. 4 WALES IN THE EIGHTIES: MAKE OR BREAK Tuesday, December 8, BBC One Wales, 10.35pm This episode of Wales in the Eighties tells the story of a decade that saw the beginning of a transformation in attitudes towards disability and diversity. One of the most successful Welsh athletes of all time, Tanni Grey-Thompson, who was born with spina bifida, faced any number of challenges during her childhood. After struggling with crutches, a wheelchair provided the independence she needed, which led her to success in the sporting world. During the 80s, AIDS was regarded as a gay plague and the gay community suffered widespread hostility. Actor Stifyn Parri talks about his years facing up to coming out. After seeing her mother suffering from domestic violence, Yaina Samuels from Cardiff went on to help other women escape similar situations. Guardsman Simon Weston, who was severely injured during the Falklands War, tells of his ups and downs from struggling to come to terms with his disability to turning his life around, setting up a charity and marrying the love of his life. 5 COMING HOME: JEREMY BOWEN Friday, December 11, BBC One Wales, 8.30pm BBC journalist Jeremy Bowen has spent the last 30 years reporting on the front line from the world s most dangerous conflicts - and has even been on the wrong end of a bullet. But there s another story he s keen to pursue closer to home. In Coming Home, he travels to Carmarthenshire to trace his Welsh ancestry. His journey begins in St Clears, where his paternal line can be traced back to at least the late 1600s. Generations of his family have earned their sea legs in west Wales; including his four times great grandfather, Benjamin Morgan, who was a mariner. Jeremy s keen to find out why the family moved from rural Wales to an industrial town. His great-great-grandfather was just a baby when his parents made the move to Merthyr Tydfil. Education may not have been important to every family in the 19 th century and, for most, getting the children to work as soon as possible was the priority. Although his great-great-grandparents were illiterate they understood the value of education. At least six of their children went to school, including Jeremy s great-grandfather William at the young age of three. Education has continued to be important in the Bowen family. Jeremy s father, Gareth Bowen, went to grammar school and university and had a successful career as a radio journalist. Gareth reported from the scene of the Aberfan disaster, covering one of Wales most tragic accidents. It was a story that drew the attention of the world to Wales, and Jeremy listens to an original recording of his father s radio report from the disaster almost 50 years ago. Stephen Morgan 5

Although Angela knows nothing is seriously wrong, she enjoys seeing Eifion worrying about her. Ed sees his chance to spend time with Vicky by organising a Christmas party for Cwmni Perffaith. Avoiding extending the offer to everyone, he gets his chance to kiss Vicky under the mistletoe. But when Ed finds out that Vicky is meant to go out and escort Dewi, he lies to Dani in order to make her change the arrangements. Gemma goes to prison to visit DJ, but is worried he s being bullied.
