1 Footnotes Established 1983 July 2014 Indianapolis, IN Our annual Luau last month officially kicked off summer for Indy Dancers. It was a blast and if you missed this over-the-top fun event, you will want to mark your calendar for next year!! Now, get ready for some great parties and activities. On July 11, you don t want to miss the annual Big Ballroom Bash. Indy Dancers sponsors this fun, semiformal event that benefits Special Olympics Ballroom of Hendricks County. The evening offers some of the best ballroom dancing and exhibitions. Most importantly for the first time, you will want to see your club represented when the Indy Dancers team performs a fun East Coast Swing routine. Need tickets? See Rhonda. Also, Indy Dancers will perform at the Indiana State Fair on Aug. 9 from 7-9 p.m. This is always a fun time as it provides us the opportunity to dance on stage and introduce our club to people from around the state. Often, they join us, and it s so much fun!! Details will be announced during our dances. By the way, do we have your address? Often, Indy Dancers plans off-week road trips or activities that you want to know about. and Face Book are our best means of last minute communication. Don t miss out on any fun! See Rheta if you are not getting our s. As Indy Dancers start a new calendar year, the Board of Trustees will be fulfilling the duties of president and treasurer until these positions can be filled. Therefore, nominations for these two positions will remain open. Please consider joining our team as an officer in building the club and providing fun events. Also, congratulations to Carl Dankert and Rhonda Bennett on their election as vice president and secretary respectively. 2 Secretary s Report Treasurer s Report Indy Dancers June 24, 2014 Meeting Minutes Margaret Bell Indy Dancers, Inc. Income Statement Don Mindach President Rhonda Bennett called the monthly meeting to order on June 24, 2014 at the Lodge. On Saturday, June 21 st, the Indy Dancers 'Luau Party' was held at the shelter house. Rhonda was delighted to report that it was a blast and a great success. We had special entertainment and the food, catered by Jug's, was delicious. We also had fireworks donated by Jim Pennington. Thank you, Jim for this fabulous fireworks donation. Rhonda also extended thanks to all those who volunteered their time to help. Without volunteers, our dances would never be the success that they are. Please be sure to read the newsletter and s for upcoming events and information. This is a sure way to keep informed and to be sure to not miss any of the events you may want to attend. We can't believe July is almost here!! July 1 st, we are having a patriotic dance to help celebrate our nation's birthday! So dig out your special red, white, and blue outfits and join the fun. Friday, July 11th at the Murat Shrine Arabian Room, Indy Dancers will be performing during the BIG BALLROOM BASH. All proceeds from this dance will benefit the Special Olympics Ballroom of Hendricks County, which is sponsored by Indy Dancers. Be sure to plan the evening to cheer us on and help benefit a good cause. Our President Rhonda Bennett then turned the microphone over to Trustee Dave Berard. Dave reminded everyone that in order to hold an office in Indy Dancers, you must be a member in good standing for one year. We need people with a variety of skills, who are interested in "dancing for the fun of it", and a desire to be involved to lead Indy Dancers. During our May 13th meeting there were no nominations for president or treasurer. Carl Dankert was nominated for vice-president and Rhonda Bennett was nominated for secretary, and there were no other nominations for either position on June 24. They accepted the nominations and will take over their respective duties on July 1, Congratulations to Carl and Rhonda. The floor was open to take nominations for president and treasurer. Cindy Baab was nominated for president, which she declined. Don Mindach was nominated for treasurer, which he declined. There were no further nominations. Since nominations for president and treasurer were declined, and there being no other nominations, the Board of Trustees consisting of Harriet Fishburn, Joan Rantanen, Marilyn Sutherlin, David Berard and Don Mindach, a new member of the board, will step in to fill these two positions. Nominations for president and treasurer will remain open. Please give it some thought and let us know if you would be interested in serving in either of these two offices. Dave Berard then turned the microphone back over to Rhonda. The minutes and treasurers reports were approved as printed in the June 2014 issue Footnotes. There being no further business, a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. So let the dancing continue!!!!
