1 WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW PROGRAMS AND INSTRUCTORS SPRING REGISTRATION DUE MONDAY APRIL 17, 2017 If you have a special talent/skill you would like to offer students or know someone who would be interested in facilitating a program LET US KNOW!!! FIND US ON THE SEVEN OAKS WEBSITE Registration booklets and registration forms are available for each school. EDGE is located under youth programs where you will find programs and calendar information. If you have any questions or need additional information. PLEASE CONTACT: Penny Raymond Extended Day Coordinator Penny.raymond@7oaks.org SPRING INTO FUN ACTIVITIES WITH EDGE! The Seven Oaks School Division provides affordable programs geared towards Middle Year Students Grades 6-8. EDGE (Extended Day Growth Education) offers interesting and fun activities students can enjoy after the school day is over. Most activities start at 3:15 PM and end at 5:30 PM each school day (unless otherwise indicated). This is an 8 week session (unless otherwise indicated). PROGRAMS START MONDAY, APRIL 24 TH AT E PARTRIDGE COMMUNITY SCHOOL All programs available on in-service days unless otherwise noted in course information

2 REGISTRATION PROCEDURE The first line gives the specific registration information: Program title, course time, and weekday the program is offered. The second line gives the start and end dates of the program, school location and registration fee. BAKED DELIGHTS! BAKING 3:15 PM 5:30 PM MONDAYS MAY 1 JUNE 19 At E. Partridge $60.00 Students are required to go to E Partridge to attend this program *LATER START DATE: THIS IS A 7 WEEK COURSE - NO CLASSES May 22 Victoria Day Class sizes are limited: Programs are offered depending upon enrollment. Programs with high registration may be split or a waiting list created for the next session. Low registration may result in the program being cancelled. Behaviour Policy: This form is to be read and signed by both the parent and participant. This is to ensure that all participants are aware of the behaviour expected during the course of the program. Photo Release Form: This form is necessary in the event that pictures are taken of students participating in the EDGE program for school website or newspaper articles promoting the EDGE program. If your child has to miss or cancel participation in a class: Please advise the Program Coordinator so the instructor of the program may be advised of an absence or withdrawal of a student. Contact information is listed on the back of this booklet. Join us for a fun filled delicious course that helps you develop your baking skills. Whether you have little experience or a lot you will enjoy baking cupcakes, cookies and more! Your instructor will start you off with recipes but you are encouraged to bring in your own favorite recipe to share too! Join us today and bake the day away! COOKING CREATIONS! COOKING 3:15 PM 5:30 PM TUESDAYS APRIL 25 JUNE 13 At E Partridge $60.00 Students are required to go to E Partridge to attend this program Transportation to an alternate location is NOT provided by EDGE with the only exception being the Adopt-a-Grandparent program. No return transportation is provided. Return your registration sheets to your classroom or school office by April 17, 2017 along with any required registration fee(s). Cheques made payable to the Seven Oaks School Division. Upon receipt your child will receive a letter confirming placement in the requested course(s) with a classroom assigned to their course. If you require a receipt for registration fees please write a request on the registration form. REMEMBER STUDENTS CAN SIGN UP FOR MORE THAN ONE COURSE! If you like to cook and try new foods join us for a delicious course that offers you safe kitchen skills and great tasting food! Learn how to make some favorite dishes like pizza and other simple meals that you can make for your whole family. How about a great dessert?! Come out to this course and we will show you how! BOLLYWOOD DANCE BOLLYWOOD 3:15 PM 5:30 PM WEDNESDAYS APRIL 26 JUNE 14 At E Partridge $25.00 Students are required to go to E Partridge to attend this program Your community continues to need your help and involvement. The EDGE Teen Club offers students the opportunity to give something back. Coordinate a fundraiser to help out your school or a local charity. Try organizing a gently used children s book drive for a local daycare or adult books and puzzles for a local senior s residence! Your instructor will guide your club and celebrate your hard work with a FREE Pizza party at the end! BABYSITTER CERTIFICATE COURSE BABYSITTER 3:15 PM 5.30 PM FRIDAYS APRIL 28 JUNE 23 At E Partridge $30.00 The name Bollywood is a combination of Bombay (now known as Mumbai) and Hollywood. This is a mixture of Indian classical and folk styles of dance forms mixing with western contemporary dance. It combines Belly Dancing, Kathak, Indian Folk, Modern Jazz and some really great music! Once you join us, the music rhythm and fun will keep you moving for the entire class! Join us today for a really unique experience! LEARN SPANISH! SPANISH 3:15 PM 5:30 PM THURSDAYS APRIL 27 JUNE 15 At E Partridge $25.00 YOU MUST TURN 12 YEARS OLD BEFORE OR DURING THE PROGRAM This course will include child care, basic first aid, home safety and emergency procedures needed to be a responsible and reliable babysitter. You will be required to complete all the assignments, behave and show a level of maturity that is befitting a babysitter plus pass the course test. Your babysitter manual will be supplied; a pencil, pen and notebook will be required. Hola! Are you and your family planning a trip to Mexico or another country where Spanish is spoken? Even if you re not, maybe you just want to learn about a different language and culture. It always can be an asset to be used in the future. How great would be if you could communicate even just the basics of any other language! In this class you will learn to speak and read some basic Spanish and this is the best place to start!

This program along with our Mr. E. will be fun and full of helpful hints to assist you with improving your drawing talent. Come out and have fun getting creative in this class! Supplies included. KAMUSTA! How many of your friends speak another language? How many of would like to be able to join in? This class offers you the chance to learn about a different culture and its geography plus learning to speak and read some of the basics of Tagalog. This is a great way to expand your knowledge both in language and geography and culture. Join up with your friends today!

Some might like Asian foods and some might like Italian foods or foods of any other culture but who doesn t like a great Taco?!! While we do think of a taco when we think of Mexican foods there are many other delights to try. Learn to make corn tortillas, re-fried beans and salsa from scratch. Delight your family and friends by hosting and making a Mexican delight dinner soon with even a Mexican dessert! NEW! ENVIROMENTAL SCIENCE ENVIRO-SCI 3:15 PM 5:30 PM FRIDAYS APRIL 28 JUNE 23 At ESOMS $25.00 Students are required to go to EP to attend this program. Here is a great place to do different sports and games each week. Try a bocce ball tournament or a Frisbee clinic and games. How about a ladder ball or bean bag toss tourney? Try your hand at setting up a relay course with different activities at each station and timing the results. On rain days play some sport trivia and other indoor activities let your instructor know what other games you enjoy maybe some soccer or basketball outside? Whatever your sport and game choices we are sure you will enjoy this program come out and bring your friends! ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE & GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE The combination of physical, biological and all other informational sciences (which can include everything from biology, ecology, physics, chemistry and more) are all used to study the environment and helping to find solutions that face the world and all those in it. Whether it s realizing a small way in your own community to contribute to saving the environment to learning about all the current ways scientists are trying to apply new technology today. This is a very exciting and interesting course for all young scientists and those interested in taking care of the planet!

Then this is the dance class for you! Within this course we will be doing a variety of different dance styles including hip hop, jazz and contemporary. You will learn a number of cool dance moves, tricks and proper dance techniques in this class. Along with the above, as a group we will work on a number of different combinations. This class is a great fit both for beginners and for those with experience. Hope to see you there! Do you like to make different and challenging art projects and love to get your hands right into it? Paper Mache is a fun building art form so if you like to build, create and get a bit messy in the process come out and try this class. We supply all the materials and you supply the creativity! Design your form either with balloons/chicken wire or make a mask! It s all fun and a great way to make art to decorate your room! How about trying a Piñata! Design one for your next party or for a family member or friend! Come out and try your hand at this fun and creative art form!
