1 Dear YDA Parents, We are so excited for YDA s 8 th Annual Winter Dance Recital: RAISING THE BARRE Please read the information in this packet very carefully and be sure to add all dates and times to your calendar. All schedules and details included are very important. Well-informed parents can help the performance run smoothly and be less stressful for everyone, and make Mrs. Yvette s job easy :-). RECITAL Saturday December 2, 2017 Level I, II, and III Dancer Arrival: 12:00pm 3-6 Year Old Dancer Arrival: 12:30pm Recital Begins: 1:00pm LOCATION EE Smith High School 1800 Seabrook Road Fayetteville, NC ADMISSION Adults: $7.00 Children over 3 years old-15 years old: $3.50 DRESS REHEARSAL Friday December 1, 2017 EE Smith High School (1800 Seabrook Road) 3-6 Year Old Dancer Arrival: 5:30pm Level I, II, and III Dancer Arrival: 6:30pm COSTUMES Label all costumes and shoes with your child s name. You will be given a garment bag with the recital order. Place all costumes in garment bag prior to arriving at the recital. Place all dance shoes in a zip lock bag with your child s name on the outside, and place it in your garment bag. (No dance bags will be allowed backstage) Each dancer will receive a recital t-shirt to wear in the finale. Dancer may wear black bottoms of their choice (leggings, shorts, skirts, etc ). Ballet or Jazz shoes will be worn for finale. Tumbling students: plan to wear a black leotard and black dance shorts for tumbling dances.

2 RECITAL ADMISSION Adults $7.00, Children over 3 years old-15 years old are $3.50 (Dancers are free). Please be advised that no one will be allowed to enter the recital without a ticket. RECITAL Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes before the scheduled arrival time. Come dressed in your first costume. Report to your assigned dressing room, and place your garment bag on the appropriate garment rack. Please do not bring any food or drink except water. Dancers get in for free. All guest over the age of 3 years old are required to have a ticket. Plan to stay for the entire recital. Estimated show length is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Dancers will stay in their designated waiting area for the entire recital. Please do not save a seat for your child in the audience. Recital DVDs will be available for purchase during the recital. (CASH, CHECK, OR CREDIT CARD ACCEPTED). DVDs will be mailed 3-4 weeks after the recital. Concessions, Raffle Tickets, and YDA Apparel will be on sale in the lobby during the dress rehearsal and recital (CASH, CHECK, OR CREDIT CARD ACCEPTED) No parents will be allowed to stay backstage, unless they are Dance Parent Association Members. 7 and up dancers will be dismissed from the stage after they have gathered their belongings. 6 and under dancers will be dismissed from the backstage area. If you have multiple dancers, please pick up your older dancer from the stage first, and then go backstage to get your younger dancer. DANCER S APPEARANCE Costumes will be given to each student to take home and keep for recital time. On the front of the bag will be the student s name, costume/performance order, and notes on appropriate hair and makeup. Each costume will have tights provided (if needed for the costume), please try these on as well. You should already have the proper dance shoes. If you are not sure if you have the proper dance shoes, please ask! Hair should be worn in a bun or a ponytail if it is too short to make a bun. Light makeup including lipstick/lip gloss, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, and blush should be worn. Only hair accessories given to you by Mrs. Yvette should be worn. IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE WITH HAIR AND MAKEUP, OUR COMPETITION TEAM MOMS ARE PROVIDING THE SERVICE FOR $5.00 No excessive jewelry (bracelets, necklaces, watches, etc.). Stud earrings may be worn. Tights should be free of stains and runs. Ms. Yvette always has extra tights on hand backstage that you can purchased for $6.00, just ask :-) No socks should be worn with dance shoes.

3 No undergarments should be visible under costumes. Bras should only be worn if costume allows it, and if it matches the style of the costume (examples: racerback top and criss cross straps)

6 Hair & Makeup YDA Competition Team will be offering Hair & Makeup services for our Winter Recital. Hairstyle -Bun (Bun, comb & brush should be brought in with daughter. If a special product is used on daughter s hair, please bring.) Makeup -Full Face Eyeshadow & Blush will be provided. (Foundation, Lip color, Liners & Mascara if desired are to be brought in with daughter and will be applied.) Cost: $5 -Hair $5 -Makeup Sign-up sheet will be available at Dress Rehearsal at the sign in/out table.
