This is especially important for students so they can get an idea of what the stage will be like. All students should be dressed in regular dance attire with all shoes. (NO COSTUMES) Please wear a cover up (your Steppin Time shirt!) into and out of the theatre as there are other events going on and we want to represent the dance studio in the best way possible. Please put your name in all shoes and props, so they can be promptly returned if left in the theatre. Preschool parents please stay for the entire preschool rehearsal. Elementary classes- Parents may stay, or if you trust your child to stay with the class monitor, you may leave them at rehearsal. These rehearsals are closed to the public. Please do not bring additional friends and relatives. Let them be surprised with the show! Checklist Regular Dance Clothes Necessary Dance shoes, with initials inside! Rehearsal Volunteers Needed! We appreciate you! We need class monitors for all preschool and elementary level classes. A class monitor is in charge of the class during the studio rehearsal or high school rehearsal only- NOT during the show. 13 13 Tickets & Past Due Accounts Tickets to the recital are in high demand. One ticket will admit one person to one of the shows- times are listed on the ticket. Children under 3, who will be sitting in your lap, do not need a ticket. Tickets will be available May 20, once June tuition is paid and your account is clear for the dance season and summer Parents must pick up the tickets. Tickets will not be given to students. We will hold 6 tickets for each student participating in the show- 5 will look like tickets and the remaining one will be in the form of a wrist band for mom. If you would like more than 6 tickets, please sign up for extra in the office after dress rehearsal and before May 20. We will distribute these as fairly as possible during the last week of class and during stage rehearsals. If you do not need all of your tickets, please return them to the office so we can distribute them to someone who needs them! Videotapes The recital will be videotaped by a professional videographer and a digital copy will be sent to your address on file. You are welcome to bring your own (non-flash) camera to rehearsals, however NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOTAPING DURING THE PERFORMANCE WILL BE ALLOWED!!! Flashes, audience movement, tripods and other commotion are distracting to the performers as well as inconsiderate to other audience members. Should you experience problems of this nature during the show, please contact one of the ushers or security guard. If you would like to purchase additional DVDs, they are available for $10. Orders available May 20. Recital Volunteers Every year generous moms offer to volunteer to help out back stage during the show. It is absolutely not necessary to do so, but if you would prefer to stay backstage with your dancer, we can definitely use the help! Please speak directly to Miss Jill or Miss Jamie and we will explain our needs. If you volunteer during the show, we will do everything we can to ensure you watch your child s dances from backstage, but you will not be able to see them from the audience.
14 14 We appreciate everything you do for your kids! The Recital Saturday, June 8, 2019 Please Bring : Costume, with initials! Accessories, with initials! Tights, with initials! Shoes, with initials! Tickets!!! NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT A TICKET! (per fire code) X--- Do NOT bring any food or drinks. To Get Your Child Ready : Please feed your child a normal snack or meal before they come! Bring your dancer, dressed in street clothes, with hair and make-up done. There are NO mirrors in the dressing area! Did you take off all of her jewelry and nail polish? Go to the restroom before you put your costume on!!! Dressing rooms open one hour prior to show time. No men, including fathers and little brothers, are allowed in the dressing room. If a female is not available to assist your daughter in getting dressed, notify your teacher or the office and we will figure out alternate accommodations. Check in with the dressing room attendant! Dancers should be ready to go in their first costume, complete with hair, make-up, shoes and accessories 30 minutes prior to show time- 12:00, 3:30 or 7:00.
15 15 To Find Your Seats and your child after the show : After your dancer is completely ready, you may find your seats in the auditorium. Dancers are only allowed to wear their costume in the backstage and dressing room areas before the show. You must leave your child in the dressing room or viewing room when you go to find your seat. There is plenty of time after the show for pictures, and students may leave the performance in their costume. For handicapped seating, please speak to an usher. The auditorium will not open until 30 minutes prior to show time. Seating is first come, first served. No one will be allowed in the auditorium before this time. The show will begin promptly at - 12:00, 3:30 or 7:00. NO!!! Photographing or Videotaping during the performance!!! It is discourteous and distracting to those around you and can be dangerous for our performers. If you are caught doing so, you and your camera will be removed from the auditorium. After the Grand Finale and award ceremony presentation, children 1 st -3 rd grade and older will be sent back to the dressing room. Students kinder/1 st grade classes and younger will be held on the stage and you can pick your child up at the stage door. You may not enter from the front of the stage and your student may not exit the front of the stage. Thank you for a great night! We appreciate all your hard work!
16 16 Recital Rules and Guidelines 1. Dressing Rooms : Please locate your child s dressing room before leaving the Stage rehearsal. Men are NOT allowed in the girls dressing rooms. This includes fathers and little brothers. If a female is not available to assist your daughter in getting dressed, notify your teacher or the desk and we will figure out alternate accommodations. 2. Shoes : Be sure to bring all of your child s shoes. This is an item easy to forget! Make sure they are leather ballet slippers for ballet. (Not satin slippers like those sold at Target! Older and upper level classes may have canvas shoes approved- please speak to your child s teacher.) 3. Jewelry : No jewelry is to be worn. This means no rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. If earrings cannot be removed, please wear the smallest pair possible and cover with a small part of a band-aid. 4. Hair : All ballet classes will wear their hair in a bun. Hair pieces should be securely pinned to the head. Other styles will be announced before dress rehearsal. 5. Make Up : All performers should wear make up so that their facial features will be easily distinguishable by the audience. Make-up should be applied more heavily and exaggerated than normally worn by adults. Rule of thumb: After applying your make-up, check your appearance in the mirror. If you like what you see- you don t have enough make-up on! 6. Undergarments : Girls should NOT wear panties under their costumes unless tights are not being worn. If your dancer wears a bra to school, she should wear appropriate support under her costume. 7. More on costumes : All straps, ruffles and skirts should be securely attached to the costume bodice. Don t just pin them! Tutus are to be worn at the hips, not the waist. All straps should be worn straight over the shoulder- do not cross them on the back, unless otherwise notified. 8. Backstage : Only Steppin Time staff, CFISD staff, class monitors and dancers are allowed back stage. 9. Reserving Seats : No seats may be reserved in the theatre except one for mom. For handicap seating, please speak to an usher before we open the theatre. 10. Audience Courtesies : We want the audience s attention focused on the performers on stage. Therefore, no dancers will be allowed in the theatre. Also, please do not carry costumes into the audience. We want everything to be a surprise!
