2 Breakfast is available for purchase in the HS Commons from 6:50 to 9:00 am Wednesday Breakfast Pizza, French Toast Stick & Syrup, Cereal w/cheese Stick Thursday Apple-Filled Breadsticks, Breakfast Nachos, Cereal w/cheese Stick Announcements Lower Level (PK-5) Silver Week New Today Trick or Treat in the DCC High School on October 28 from 5:00 7:00 pm. This event is free! You can also take advantage of our Haunted Theater (recommended for ages 10 and up) for $3 a person. ATTENTION ALL FUTURE CHEERLEADERS! The Discovery Canyon High School Cheerleading squad will be hosting a kiddie Clinic on October 20th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm in the Middle School gym. The cost is $40 and you will include a t-shirt, ribbon, snack, a ticket to the football game, and 3 hours with the awardwinning Cheerleaders! All Clinic participants will perform at halftime of the Varsity football game on October 20th at 7:00 pm. Registration forms are available in the office beginning Wednesday, October 4. Any questions, please contact Coach Paxton at tami.paxton@asd20.org. We can t wait to see you there! Please join us for our first grade program, Jumanji! October 26 at 6:00 pm in the ES Cafetorium. The winning student will have submitted to Ms. Filbert an original, hand-drawn, black-andwhite image of Thor to be judged by the yearbook club. The winner will receive a FREE yearbook! Submit your design by Wednesday, Oct 25.
3 Join us for the DCC Middle School Orchestra Concert, Wednesday, November 7 th at 7:00 pm! Our concert will feature a professional violin soloist, holiday music, a symphony and much more! Join us for the DCC Middle School Band Concert on Wednesday, November 8 th. Our 6 th Grade Band will be playing at 6:30 pm, and our 7 th & 8 th Grade Bands will play at 7:30 pm. Our concert will feature music inspired by cultures around the world and we will play a piece honoring our veterans. It s Book Fair time! Come down to the Middle School library to buy a book or two. We have novels, fun books, activity kits, pens, and lots more. The Fall Book Fair will be open during school hours from Friday, October 13 through Monday, October 23, including conference days. See you there! Red Ribbon Spirit Week is October 30 through November 3. The essay is due November 1 st, submitted to Ms. Eaves. One winner from each grade level will receive a gift and will read their essay during the assembly. DCC Middle s first drama performance of the year, Charlotte s Web will be on Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27 at 7:00 pm. $5 for adults, $2 for students, and staff is free with their staff ID. New Today Sophomore Socktober: The Sophomore Class will be collecting packages of new, unused socks to donate to the Urban Peak shelter which helps homeless teens have a safe place to sleep. Please bring in sock donations and put them in the Socktober boxes in the front lobby October 23-30th. New Today Costume Contest: There will be a Costume Contest held during our Healthy Activities Thundertime on October 25th!! Stick with the Halloween theme and dress up as something scary, or go all out with something cool! Please remember, no masks or gory representations. Costumes should be school appropriate, and not be offensive to others or disruptive to the learning environment. Feel free to stop by and see and administrator for a consultation about your costume. Upperclassmen and Underclassmen will compete in their own groups for awards such as: Best overall costume Most creative Scariest Best Cosplay Fluffiest Join us for DCC s first-ever Writers Week this January! We want to hear your stories, poetry, speeches, songs, and more! Pick up an application outside rooms 332 or 328 or talk to your English teacher. Share your words, celebrate your story! Attention Students: I need your voice!! We are currently working on revamping our current student dress code policy. Please take a short survey. The link was in the 20 Alert, as well as sent out in some of your class remind, and will hopefully be on the board in thunder time. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Forehand. DCC RAD will meet Tuesday mornings at 7:00 am in room 470. Come plan activities for DCC and Friday Nights at the Tri-Lakes YMCA. Students - Please remember that students should not be in the hallways or Art Bridge during lunch. Students may be in the Commons or outside. Please help keep the hallways clear and quiet for classes that are going on during lunch. Thank you!
