1 PUNTA GORDA 1 December 2014 P R E S I D E N T S M E S S A G E PGHA 2013/2014 Board Members President Laura St. John Vice President Dan Pabon dsp1104@gmail.com Secretary Linda Clapp (after 2 pm) The rain is really reeking havoc on our show season so far this year. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the November Speed show due to the rainy weather. This show has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 3, This is the same day as the Performance show but there shouldn t be any problems as Speed will start at 5:00 pm (like normal) and Performance will be over by then. Hopefully, we will not have any more cancellations due to weather. Remember that you need 15 volunteer hours to qualify for year end awards. 7 of those hours must be completed by January 31, 2015 or within your first 3 months of joining PGHA (whichever is greater). Members can work at any of our shows and also get one hour for each meeting they attend. Keep working on getting sponsors and don t forget to tell your friends about PGHA. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! 2 Page 2 Page 2 S E C R E T A R Y S R E P O R T The meeting was called to order with 17 members present including the Board. Minutes accepted. Meeting adjourned at 19:30 T R E A S U R E R S R E P O R T Checking and Savings account balances were given. D I R E C T O R S R E P O R T Field Maintenance & Improvements to the show grounds: Ants are bad, so please be careful. We are working on getting this issue resolved. The County is aware of the problem. Also we are working on better maintenance of the jump course in the grass arena. The a/c/ units are still working and it is getting cooler but we will need to get replacements. County/Sports Council: The bathroom renovations should be completed soon. H U N T E R / J U M P E R The Hunter / Jumper show had 22 riders making up 94 class entries. We had a few new members and nominations added which brought in $

3 3 P E R F O R M A N C E The November show had 19 riders making 98 class entries which brought in $ S P E E D Unfortunately the show was cancelled due to weather and the make up day will be Jan. 3, 2015 following the Performance show at 5:00 pm. The September make up show is scheduled for May 9, 2015 O L D T H E N N E W B U S I N E S S: Cooking at the grounds: There is absolutely no cooking or BBQ s allowed during any PGHA shows. We try very hard to have vendors on the premises. Fire ants: Fireant LLC is a Company that will treat the entire grounds. A motion was passed to obtain an estimate for the cost to treat the area. Motion was made by Amy Rogers and 2nd by Peggy Santor. Tower a/c: A new small window a/c is needed for the Tower. Anyone have donations? Ideas? NBHA: The NBHA District 4 is inquiring about using our arena for the 2015 show year. NBHA would have their own drag. PGHA would be looking at getting exhibition monies in exchange for supplying the volunteers for barrel setters and gates. This would give PGHA more exposure. Punta Gorda Horseman s Association
