Gymtowne Goes to High School It s high school gymnastics season and Gymtowne currently supports 3 local teams. Mercy and Burlingame High Schools are practicing at our SSF gym and at the Coastside gym, is Half Moon Bay High School. The teams are practicing 5 days a week. Come check them out! 3 page Xcel and Optional Teams Hit Pay Dirt at Gold Country Classic Hosted by Classic Gymnastics in Oakland on February 8-9, 204 The Gold Country Classic was a gold mine of fun and competition for both our Optional team and our Xcel team. With many Bay Area teams in attendance, our girls had a great time showing off their skills to family and friends. The Optional Team: Gymtowne s Level 7 girls, Nia Guevara and Ysabell Myhres placed well in their divisions. Nia (Sr. 0+ division) tied for 2nd on the vault and placed 4th in the All Around standings. In the Jr. 0- division, Ysabell was 5th in two events: the vault and the beam. Jolie Chiu, in Level 8, competed with style on the uneven bars where she placed 3rd. In Level 9, Julia Bellamy threw some stellar moves on the uneven bars to win a st place! When it was Level 0 gymnast, Kate Nelson s turn, she placed 2nd on the beam and in the overall standings. The Xcel Team: Platinum Level Liana Bustamante was strongest on the uneven bars (3rd place with a score of 9.250) and the floor (5th place). On the bars, Allison Koehler tied for 7th place. Gold Level - Trinity Nitafan led the Gymtowne girls in the Jr. 9-2 group with a 3rd on the vault and 5th on the floor. On the vault, Kaileigh Willis placed 5th while Youki Miyoshi tied for 5th on the bars. In the Sr. 3 divison, Grace Hagy scored a 7th place on the floor. Madison Perkins was a top gymnast in her Sr. 4 division where she came in 3rd overall (score ). Her best event, the floor, earned her a 3rd place medal and she was 4th on the vault. In the Sr. 5+ division, sisters Natalie and Emma Bellino represented Gymtowne. Natalie was on her game with a st place in the vault event. Her 3rd places on the bars and floor were also highlights of her day. Emma was 8th on both the bars and beam. The Xcel-Gold team placed 3rd in the Team awards. Silver Level - Our Xcel-Silver team had a great day. With our girls scoring high marks, the team placed 2nd All Around. In the Ch. 8-0 division, Shea Wakasa had a big vault that placed her first. Tessa Payne tied for 3rd on the floor with her sharp routine. Riley Rhodes placed 5th on the vault and Anna Steinberg scored a 7th place on the floor in the Jr. division. Athena Kalabolas brought home top scores on the beam (2nd place, score ) and floor (2nd place, score ) in the Jr. 2 division. Her overall score of placed her 3rd overall. Graycen Mahon tied for 2nd place on the bars with a score of On the floor Maxine Lanier tied for a 5th place medal. In the Jr. 3+ division, Sarah McLaughlin dominated the vault and easily earned a st place medal. Her 2nd on the beam and 4th on the bars also helped her medal 3rd All Around. Bronze Level - Our Bronze team had much success! In the Ch. 7-8 division, Genesis Hamilton tied for 3rd on the vault. Brooke Mendez was in 6th place for the vault and the bars. Nadia Fedotova scored a 4th place overall in the Ch. 9 division. Her 2nd places on the beam (score ) and floor (score ) helped put her there. Elise Hackenberg was tops on the vault where she earned a 3rd place medal. On the floor, Nataly Neves was 4th and Julissa Matadamas was 5th. Katherine Tse also earned a 5th place, but it was on the uneven bars. The Jr. 0 division had a leader in Anna Cramer. She placed 2nd as an All Around Gymnast (score 37.75) and 2nd on the floor. Her 3rd on the beam and 4th on the bars helped put her on top. Also coming in 2nd All Around was Clarina Camicia in the Jr. division. She couldn t be beat on the bars and beam and she brought home st place medals for both events. Tessa Mahon tied for 7th on the vault. Megan Lee was perfection on the floor in the Jr. 2+ division. She placed st and, along with her 3rds on the bars and beam, was 3rd All Around. Padma Armstrong was 5th on the beam. As a team, our Bronze Level girls placed 3rd overall. It s Full Steam Ahead For Gymtowne s Optional Team at Delta Classic Hosted by Champion Gymnastics in Stockton on February -2, 204 The paddlewheels were rolling down the Sacramento River as our Optional Team tumbled away at the Delta Classic in Stockton. Level 7 gymnast Nia Guevara led our team with an overall score of and an All Around 3rd place in her L7-Older division. Her st place on the vault was also a top team score. In the L7-Middle division, Ysabell Myhres showed precision and grace on the beam where she placed 2nd with a score of She was also 3rd on the vault (score 9.250). Jolie Chiu competed in Level 8 where she tied for 4th on the beam and 5th on the floor. Julia Bellamy had her Level 9 beam routine dialed in and it earned her a 3rd place medal. At the top of the Optional ladder, Level 0 s Kate Nelson showed how hard she s worked. Her uneven bars routine placed 6th and she tied for 6th on the beam. Great job girls!!!
