GLAZER FAMILY FOUNDATION The Glazer Family Foundation was established in 1999 to better the lives of children and families by establishing lasting, impactful programs throughout Florida communities. Since that time, the Foundation has given millions of dollars in programs, grants, tickets and merchandise to the Tampa Bay area. Most recently, the Foundation donated $5 million toward the construction of a new children s museum in downtown Tampa, which opened in September 2010 and is named the Glazer Children s Museum. Visit BUC-PACKS FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL The Buc-Packs for Back-to-School program provides Buccaneers backpacks filled with school supplies to children throughout Central Florida. In 2011, children from over 63 community groups received a total of 3,500 backpacks during the team s training camp. To date, more than 20,000 bags have been given away to charities throughout the region. COLLECTION DRIVES During the 2011 season, the Glazer Family Foundation teamed up with Buccaneers fans from the Bay area to support charitable causes through gameday collection drives. Before five different home games, fans donated a variety of items including canned food, school supplies, toys, animal supplies and items for the military to help those in need. Military Supply Drive to benefit Support Our Troops and U.S. armed forces overseas School Supply Drive to benefit Hillsborough and Pinellas County Schools Sack Hunger Drive to benefit Agape Food Bank, Feeding America Tampa Bay, Metropolitan Ministries and RCS Food Bank Pet Supply Drive to benefit the Humane Societies of Tampa Bay and Pinellas Toys for Tots Drive to benefit underprivileged children through the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program ENTERPRISE VILLAGE The Foundation is the official sponsor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers store in Enterprise Village, at the Stavros Institute, providing financial support and merchandise for the program. Each year, Enterprise Village hosts more than 11,000 students from public and private schools who spend the day learning about the free enterprise system in the hands-on, interactive marketplace. CHEERING YOU ON! The Cheering You On! program provides teddy bears to children in eight hospitals throughout Central Florida, lifting patients spirits and making their stay more cheerful. To date, the Foundation has donated nearly 454,000 Buccaneers teddy bears to young patients. 14 COMMUNITY
GLAZER FAMILY FOUNDATION GRANT PROGRAM The Glazer Family Foundation awards grants to local nonprofits to help fund programs that focus on the welfare of underserved youth. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated more than $600,000 in grants to Central Florida charities. GAMEDAY FOR KIDS At each home game, the Foundation hosts 100 deserving youth through the Gameday for Kids program. More than 12,800 children representing over 100 organizations from the Bay area have been rewarded with free tickets, food and Buccaneers flags for achieving goals of incentive programs implemented by their community agencies. HOLIDAY SHOPPING SPREE Since 2000, the Foundation has hosted an annual event to provide a happy holiday season for needy children. In recent years, the popular holiday shopping spree has given hundreds of underserved children the opportunity to select clothing, toys and personal items thanks to the help of Buccaneers staff, Cheerleaders, Captain Fear and the Women s Organization. TAMPA BAY SPORTS COMMISSION The Glazer Family Foundation has donated almost $1 million to the Tampa Bay Sports Commission for its support of amateur athletic activities in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. The Sports Commission uses the funds to support annual events, including all-star football, soccer and basketball games for Bay area students, as well as its local High School Football Combine, which helps high school athletes earn college scholarships. VISION PROGRAM In 2009, the Vision Program was enhanced with the introduction of the Glazer Family Foundation Vision Mobile. That initiative now continues in its fourth year of providing the next step in vision services: not only detecting issues with students ability to see, but correcting them. Following the initial school screenings, students from Title 1 schools who are recommended for additional testing will have it performed on the Vision Mobile, which travels throughout Central Florida to offer on-site service. Certified doctors provide comprehensive vision exams and prescription glasses to children at no charge. It is the Foundation s goal to not only provide these services to children who cannot see clearly, but to those who would not otherwise have access to the exams or be able to afford new glasses. Throughout 2011, the Vision Mobile provided eye examinations and glasses to 1,500 disadvantaged children in Central Florida. COMMUNITY 15
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers remained champions in the community throughout Thanks to the efforts of current and former players, coaches, front office staff and their families, the Buccaneers led the way in ensuring Central Florida s underserved populations continued to develop into a more positive, structured community. Throughout the year, nearly 1,000 nonprofit organizations benefitted from the charitable endeavors of the Buccaneers. Whether through team donations, engaging community initiatives, NFL outreach programs, or one of the hundreds of appearances for which players and coaches volunteered their time, team members ensured the Buccaneers continued their strong tradition of giving back. BUCCANEERS DAY OF GIVING In 2011, the Buccaneers surprised 30 families with holiday presents, Publix and Hess gift cards, a shopping spree and more during the team s Day of Giving. The event featured players, cheerleaders and Captain Fear surprising underprivileged families with gifts during the holiday season. FATHER S DAY KITCHEN COACHING In honor of Father s Day, the Buccaneers provided Kitchen Coaching for five families from the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation. The event offered a memorable and rewarding experience for families with a mother battling late stage, limited life expectancy cancer. HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION In 2011, the Buccaneers and Publix hosted a Halloween Celebration for over 700 disadvantaged youth. Children joined the Buccaneers rookie class, cheerleaders and Captain Fear for a night of fun and games at the Lowry Park Zoo, where they took part in haunted houses, arts and crafts, trick-or-treating, rides and more. IN THE COMMUNITY LACE IT UP FOR KIDS In 2011, the Buccaneers helped over 600 local youth kick off the school year on the right foot with the third annual Lace It Up For Kids shoe giveaway. Buccaneers players, cheerleaders and Captain Fear welcomed the children to training camp where they selected brand new shoes purchased by the Buccaneers. In total, more than 1,600 children have received new shoes through the program. 16 COMMUNITY
The Buccaneers gave away a once-in-a-lifetime experience to five mothers from Central Florida for the team s Mother s Day Makeovers program. In honor of Mother s Day, the team provided a day of pampering, a new wardrobe and an evening out with family members for five deserving women. PLAY 60 MOTHER S DAY MAKEOVERS In 2011, the Buccaneers promoted the Play 60 initiative of being active for at least 60 minutes a day through a variety of school visits, team events and NFL programs. The team also dedicated the second Buccaneers Fitness Zone at Carver Exceptional Center in Tampa, which included a new court cover and athletic equipment to support students who battle a wide variety of challenges. The Buccaneers surprised Christina Salatino with a new car through the Buccaneers Road to Success initiative. Salatino, who overcame significant challenges in her life and is dedicated to empowering others, was selected out of 180 applicants who were nominated for the 2011 program. ROAD TO SUCCESS ROOKIE CLUB STUDENT AMBASSADORS COMMUNITY 17 The 2011 Buccaneers Student Ambassadors included a team of 40 motivated high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who created Buccaneers spirit in their schools and worked as customer service representatives for Buccaneers home games. During their one-year terms, students had the opportunity to tour the team s training facility, learn from important guest speakers at monthly meetings and participate in Buccaneers community events. The Buccaneers Rookie Club was established in 2001 as a way to help the rookie class learn about each other and their new community through charitable outreach. The Rookie Club s annual efforts include hosting a bowling outing for foster kids, volunteering at Metropolitan Ministries, visiting patients at All Children s Hospital, and singing holiday carols for residents at a local retirement home.
18 COMMUNITY
At every home game, Buccaneers players, coaches and executives host a number of charitable groups and school children. These special guests are part of the Buccaneers ticket programs, which provide participants with front-row end-zone seats, custom t-shirts, food vouchers and the opportunity to be featured as a group on BucVision during the game. TICKET PROGRAMS TURKEY TIME WITH THE O-LINE For the past five years, the Buccaneers offensive line and Publix Supermarkets have teamed up to provide Thanksgiving meals for less fortunate families through the annual Turkey Time with the O-Line. Sponsored by the team s offensive line, the event transforms the Buccaneers facility into a drive-up service where nearly 3,000 families have received a full turkey dinner in time for the holidays. WOMEN S ORGANIZATION Throughout 2011, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued their commitment to breast cancer awareness and supporting the NFL s A Crucial Catch campaign. The team incorporated many awareness elements into its Breast Cancer Awareness game, such as distributing pink ribbons to fans as they entered the stadium, having children of breast cancer survivors lead the team onto the field during pre-game introductions, and recognizing a family battling breast cancer as the team s honorary captains. Buccaneers cheerleaders also lined the field in pink uniforms while players, coaches and referees wore pink apparel, which was later auctioned off to benefit the American Cancer Society. COMMUNITY 19 In conjunction with breast cancer awareness month, the Buccaneers and the NFL also donated $5,000 to My Hope Chest, a nonprofit organization that assists uninsured women with reconstructive surgery post-mastectomy. Linebacker Adam Hayward, who lost his mother to breast cancer, continued to be an active spokesman for breast cancer awareness. For his involvement in fundraising and support for research to combat the deadly disease, he was named Ambassador for the Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Among Hayward s many efforts was his role in filming a public service announcement that encouraged early detection of cancer through mammograms. BREAST CANCER AWARENESS The Buccaneers Women s Organization consists of wives, fiancées and girlfriends of Buccaneers players, coaches and front-office staff members. Throughout the year, the Women s Organization participates in charitable functions and community service projects in the Bay area. The group s 2011 outreach efforts included sorting food at Metropolitan Ministries and participating in a Holiday Shopping Spree for underprivileged youth.
