5 Play practice is underway Mark your calendars the C/S High School will be presenting the comedy Every Little Crook and Nanny on April 29 th and 30 th at 7:30pm in the Stickney Elementary gym. This play is about a small time crook and his partner in crime, who plan a bank robbery just down the street from his former nanny s boarding house. So he rents a room from her; what better place to avoid the cops right? Well perhaps not! Twists and turns abound in this evening of fun and laughs. 6 Mrs. Muckey and her C/S 4th Grade Class traveled to the Good Samaritan Home is Corsica to dye Easter eggs with the residents. This has become an annual event that both groups look forward to each year.
7 PRESCHOOL NEWS The preschoolers have been working hard on learning the letters and sounds of the alphabet. But we also enjoy having a lot of fun playing and exploring new ideas. Students in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade recently had the opportunity to participate in several contests sponsored by the Lewis and Clark Reading Council. The South Dakota Reading Council contests are one way we hope to promote and recognize students' success in various literacy endeavors. Congratulations to these winners! Family Literacy: Jaeryn Denning, Gabriel Ebbens, Peyton Denning, and Colin Ebbens Reading Challenge: Gabriel Ebbens, Jesse Torticill, and Braxton VanderWal Poetry: Jaydyn Feenstra Young Authors Extravaganza: Macayla Gerlach, Claire Gerlach, Garrett Gerlach, Jesse Torticill, Braxton VanderWal, and Lucas Krogstad Young Illustrators Art Escape: Mackenzie Vanderham, April Mosley, Cali VandenHoek, Hallie Faber, Sydney Spaans, Gabriella Olson, Ashlyn Lefers, Sutten Eide, Avery Broughton, Danae Dykstra, Marisa DeLange, and Casey Tolsma These students will be honored at the Lewis and Clark Reading Council Awards night on April 18 in Parkston. Their entries have advanced to the state level. State winners will be announced in April and honored in June. 9 +-- 1st Graders made Cats in the Hat PJ s, pillows and blankies and popcorn filled the gym as the kids enjoyed the movie The Lorax on Friday afternoon.
10 February 29-March 4 th was Dr. Seuss Week in the Elementary campus. Fun abounded as each day had a different Seuss inspired theme with a variety of classroom activities and reading Dr. Seuss books. One day was Cat in the Hat day were everyone wore their favorite hat or cap, another day was One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish when the girls wore red and the boys wore blue. Next was Wacky Wednesday which saw some strange clothing outfits and zany hairdos. Crazy socks and shoes were next on Foot Book & Fox in Socks day. The week ended with the Sleep Book were pajamas and sweats filled the building and everyone sacked out in the gym to watch The Lorax movie and enjoy Mr. Wixon s popcorn. Mr. Wixon s 6 th graders made posters to hang throughout the school.
