3 Caterina Rago Dance Company -CRDC- I create my work only when I am hit by a feeling, an emotion. It is not about dance. It is about what we feel as we dance; opening ourselves so that we may speak, receive, and offer. By opening this channel we can hear you and you will hear our voice. - Caterina Rago It is Caterina Rago s approach of surrendering her body to powerful emotion that inspires her blazing choreography. Rago originally from San Lucido, Italy, felt the desire to share her life as a new Italian in NYC. She officially founded the Caterina Rago Dance Company in 2007 (between rehearsals and performances with the Martha Graham Dance Company) and presented her work in several student showcases and the Graham II NY Season in In 2010, two sold-out performances at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center marked CRDC s debut season. The company s work was selected for the White Wave Rising Series Festival 2011, Kat Wildish s NYC Showcase at the Ailey Citigroup Theater and for the NYC Dance Week 2012 at Dixon Place.

4 CRDC Artistic Director Caterina Rago Originally from Italy, Caterina Rago received her MBA from the Italian National Academy of Dance, in Rome. While completing her studies she performed with Danzare La Vita company under the direction of Elsa Piperno, for the choreographer Joseph Fontano, President of the International Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute of UNESCO, and, as aerial dancer, for the Kitonb Extreme Theatre Company directed by Angelo Bonello. In 2006, Rago was chosen to perform Ivan Manzoni s piece Simbolo Della Pace at the Inaugural Ceremony of the XX Winter Olympic Games in Torino. After moving to New York and completing the Professional Training Program at the Martha Graham Center, she was invited to present her work, Eternal Return, at the 2008 Graham II New York Season. In New York, Rago has been dancing with I Giullari di Piazza company directed by Alessandra Belloni, Nu Dance Theatre, Hunter Performance Group, Mare Nostrum Elements and the Martha Graham Dance Company. She has been principal dancer of the Off-Broadway Show Spider Dance, directed by Jeff Whiting, and toured Italy in the original cast of Cercando Picasso, a Martha Graham Dance Company production directed by Antonio Calenda e Giorgio Albertazzi. After the great success of Cercando Picasso, Rago performed in two Greek tragedies: Baccanti, directed by Antonio Calenda, and Prometeo, by Claudio Longhi, at the Anfiteatro Greco of Siracusa, Sicily. Among numerous honors, Rago received an official invitation to the 33rd World Congress of the International Theatre Institute, in Xiamen - China, has been guest artist in Kiev, Budapest, Brussels and Montalto Uffugo for the Ruggiero Leoncavallo Gala Opera Competition, and has been movement consultant to the photographer Sebastian Faena for V Magazine and Vogue. In 2007 Rago officially founded the Caterina Rago Dance Company which work has been selected for the White Wave Rising Series Festival 2011, the Kat Wildish s NYC Showcase at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, and for the NYC Dance Week 2012 at Dixon Place. Rago most recently danced in the opera La Nave presented by I Giullari di Piazza company at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

8 CRDC Dancers Natalia Bizinha Natalia Bizinha s dedication to the art of dance began at the age of four. Studying under the direction of Rennie Gold at The Gold School in Brockton, Massachusetts led her to pursue her passion for dance as a career. She currently attends SUNY Purchase College as a dance major with a minor in Arts Management. She has performed in various projects, Nutcracker, and recently traveled to Taipei,Taiwan to perform a Lar Lubovitch piece titled Dvorak Serenade. Also, she has studied under numerous well-known choreographers in New York City such as Doug Varone and Kevin Wynn. Natalia joined the Caterina Rago Dance Company in the Fall of 2012 and is thrilled to be a part of it. Lindsay Poulis Lindsay Poulis, founding member of the Caterina Rago Dance Company, is driven by her desire to explore how movement links man with his past and guides him toward his future. After early training with the Williamsport Civic Ballet, Poulis attended the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. As a member of Graham II, under direction of Virginie Mécène, she danced lead roles in Appalachian Spring, Acts of Light, and Steps in the Street; as well as the solo Lamentation. A thirst for deeper knowledge led her to study with Christine Dakin in Mexico at the Centro Nacional de Danza Contemporanea in Queretaro, and in Oaxaca at Invernadero Danza - a project created by Rosario Ordoñez. She has danced with Twins and Artists, Ko-Ryo Dance Theater, and Alessandra Belloni s I Guillari di Piazza company. Poulis performed most recently in Teatro Grattacielo s production of La Nave at Jazz at Lincoln Center and in a piece choreographed by Maria Bruun for the Nordic Spotlight. Apart from stage work, Poulis can be seen in recording artist, Lacy James video for Old Languages, and in footage from designer, Zachary Alexander s 2011 runway show, Cheimaphobia.

She toured England with London Studio Center Jazz Dance Company of 2008 and was most recently seen in Jimmy Maize s epic adaptation of Spoon River Anthology featuring a hundred actors, which she also

9 Marine Salielli Marine is thrilled to be part of the Caterina Rago Dance Company. She trained in Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz in France and England before moving to Madrid, where she danced with former Víctor Ullate principal and Staten Island Ballet Master Iván Barreto. She toured England with London Studio Center Jazz Dance Company of 2008 and was most recently seen in Jimmy Maize s epic adaptation of Spoon River Anthology featuring a hundred actors, which she also co-choreographed. Her thesis play Looking for Beethoven was presented at New York Theatre Workshop East Fourth Street Theatre this past April as part of Columbia University New Plays Now 2012 Festival. Marine holds a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of the Arts of London, a degree in French Literature from the Université Toulon-Sud and a MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. She has worked with the theatre company Anti-Matter, Lunar Energy Productions, was a faithful intern of Jean Doumanian Productions and assisted worldrenown choreographer María Torres O Connor on a number of projects over the course of the past year. Bring on 2013! Otis Donovan Herring Otis is a native of College Park, Georgia. He received his training and BFA from Howard University under the direction of the late Dr. Sherrill Berryman Johnson. He has performed with Kankouran West African Dance Company, Malcolm Low/Formal Structure, and the band TV on the RADIO. He is presently a member of Ronald K. Brown/Evidence, A dance Company and dances with Camille A. Brown & Dancers, Francine E. Ott/The Walk, and Whitney Hunter[medium] along with choreographing independent works. This is Mr. Herring s first season with Caterina Rago Dance Company, and is overjoyed with the opportunity to continue developing his artistic voice. He is thankful for the love and support from God, family and friends.
